The N/S Korea border is a DMZ. It works because there's a buffer region and it's heavily armed on both sides.

If we put our military there, what are we trying to do? Threaten Mexico? Because that's what it looks like.

Also, the N/S Korea border is a lot smaller than the US/Mexico border. And the US/Canada border, for that measure.

we're not trying to threaten Mexico, just the illegal immigrants. yeah the border is bigger than korea, but we have troops all over the world (doing nothing that the other countries militaries couldn't do themselves) that could be placed on our border. Its better than what we have now, its better than giving immigrants drivers licenses, its better than wasting money we don't have in other countries. Its the best plan i've heard from any presidential candidate, jmo.

Tell that to Mexico. "Hey guys, we're putting a hundred thousand troops along the US-Mexico border. But don't worry, we're not planning to invade you - really." Even if we weren't, who would believe that?

Yeah, Karl Rove is a real objective person to be citing for information about Obama. To address just one of his points, special interests: Obama has not taken one dollar from special interest PAC groups while McCain has taken millions. I guess you won't find Karl Rove telling you about that, however.

Sources???? :dunno None, like usual....

PAC and committees FEC Disclosures as of 1/31/08

McCain $582,743

Obama $7,940

With all the union PAC's lining up with Obama that pledge will go out the window, just like using public money for the general election he pledged to do, but now is backing out of. Big surprise.

You're right, I would have cited a source had I remembered mine. I think I read it in the paper a few weeks ago. Anyway, it is pretty ironic that you criticized me for not posting a link to a credible source and then you do the same thing yourself.

In any event, even assuming your figures are right, it sure shows that McCain is much more beholden to PACs than Obama...

Sorry bud, I thought I did. I just went to the Federal Election Commissions web site. Oh by the way, all those unions that have endorsed Obama, they all are PAC's. Big Labor is the same as Big Business in my view. That shiny big building with the letters AFL-CIO on K street is no different than any other lobbyist building there.

And what exactly has Bush and his band of boobs do again to curb Illegal Immigration again? Oh that's right NOTHING! Hell atleast if they have a drivers license we have some type of documentation of where they are living. I can give you many examples of where Illegal Aliens have commited crimes against another person. When you try and look for them in the system such as NLETS, there is ZERO information about them. Ever think of this as being a plus for Law Enforcement? There is no way in hell you are going to stop immigration. Why not alteast have them on the books and documented. Do you think the illegal immigrants are going to all of a sudden stop driving because they don't have an official drivers license? Give me a break! Oh by the way, many scream about "these friggen Aliens are stealing jobs from AMERICANS". I counter that with saying.....Get your lazy ass back to school and get a better job!

I didn't say Bush was a great president, but you don't have to go and turn socialist on us!

Bush has been reticent to enforce immigration as toughly as some others would because of (in my opinion) the large farm and factory owners in the US wanting cheap labor.

You say we can't stop illegal immigration? I have an idea: use plastic bullets. Yes, have some border guards shoot some illegals in the ass with plastic bullets, word will get back to the sources and then the tide of illegal immigration will dissipate. That will also help to stem the flow of illegal drugs into the US.

Might as well, we're footing the bill for 15-25 million of their citizens anyways. It is funny how they protest when our troops are on the border when they have their own troops on the northern border of Guatemala. My neighbor is a naturalized citizen here from Guatemala, and he has told me how the Mexican troops shoot border crossers at will. The women take birth control pills in case if they're caught, because many are raped by the soldiers. So when Fox or Calderon criticize us, I just think what hypocrites they are.

Yeah, you're right, except there is a big difference between a "PAC" and a "committeee." A PAC is what we think of as a special interest. A committee is usually something like a state political party. Obama has received a little under $8,000 from "PACs & Committees" most of which are state political parties. McCain, on the other hand, has lots of money from PACs, including fortune 500 companies and special interest groups. So I stand by the spirit of my original post. I may have not have received totally accurate information from the newspaper article I read, but the basic concept, that McCain has received lots of PAC money and Obama has received almost nothing, is still true. You may have won the battle, but you lost the war.

Dude, you're not helping.... You don't need to shooting anyone unless provoked. If you choose to draw your weapon you better be darn well prepared to use it! All that needs to be done is penalize the employers of all undocumented workers period, no exceptions. The jobs will dry up and all will go home. I've heard the vegetable farmers out west bitching that they can't find enough help ie.(illegal paid under the table). My solution to this is pay a descent wage and you will get your help. Try using that subsidy check to raise your wages instead of buying a brand new pickup every damn year. I'll pay the extra per pound at the market to insure that legal American workers are used.

Rerouting money from committees and other candidates that have received money from PAC's is still using PAC money. So you've won nothing except now you know how candidates can invoke plausible deniability in their finances.

The idea that Obama is "less qualified" or has "less than average" experince in politics is what intrigues me about him. Remember the movie Gladiator? Marcus Aurelius wanted Maximus to become the leader because he has not been corrupted by the Senate or politics in general. That's why I'm leaning toward Obama. My thinking is, it can't get any worse than it is right now. Health Insurance has never been worse.

Bush has killed the Republican party. McCain no matter how good a candidate must defeat the Democratic candidate and Bush's legacy. Even with Nadar taking votes away from the Democratic candidate, McCain faces an up hill battle. I almost feel like the Republicans want Clinton to win so they'll have some new ammunition to launch at the Dems. Right now they are constantly faced with "look what Bush has done for us?"

Do you agree that President Bush has done a terrible job with foreign policy? Clearly you have some good ideas about how to restore and advance America's image in the eyes of the world.

That's an excellent way to approach international relations - screw what they think, why not invade them?

I agree that bush has done a horrible job with foreign policy, thats why i support Paul he feels we shouldn't be involved in other countries business(sounds good to me). theirs a reason other countries hate us, and its because we have been policing the world for the last 50 yrs. If we stay out of other countries business i think we would gain some respect around the world.

i never said invade mexico, i said we should put our troops on the border so illegals wouldn't invade us.
