Eric the Red
Chamberlain shines, but Anderson wants more Following his team's 6-2 win against Seton Hall on Friday afternoon, Nebraska baseball coach Mike Anderson sounded like a teacher who wanted his A students to earn some extra credit. In other words, the 21st-ranked Huskers' eighth straight victory, which made them 16-2 for only the third time in school history, didn't leave Anderson overly impressed. Huskers Rally Past Seton Hall, 6-2 Lincoln – Joba Chamberlain (Lincoln, Neb.) fanned 12 over eight innings, while Nebraska overcame an early 2-0 deficit with a five-run fourth inning to defeat Seton Hall, 6-2, Friday afternoon at Hawks Field. Chamberlain improved to 4-0 on the season, allowing two runs – solo homers by Tim Pahuta and John Walsh – on four hits over the first eight frames. The sophomore right-hander, who has a 0.83 ERA and 49 strikeouts in 32.2 innings this season, got stronger as the game went on, retiring the final 11 hitters he faced and allowed only one hit after Pahuta’s leadoff homer in the fourth. Eric the Red
Kroenke, Nimmo Lead Huskers to 11-2 Win Zach Kroenke tossed eight shutout innings while Bryce Nimmo went 2-for-3 with two homers and a career-high six RBIs, as Nebraska downed Seton Hall, 11-2, Saturday afternoon at Hawks Field. Kroenke (2-0) turned in his best outing of the season, striking out five and allowing two singles, as he faced only two above the minimum over eight innings. The left-hander was in control all afternoon, allowing only one Pirate into scoring position and was helped out by a pair of Husker double plays. Kroenke, Nimmo shine in NU baseball win The real treat for Nebraska pitcher Zach Kroenke in Haymarket Park on Saturday afternoon came a half-hour after he'd dished up eight shutout innings in the Huskers' 11-2 win against Seton Hall. Eric the Red
Gordon Earns National Honor Gordon was also honored, as he was chosen as one of Collegiate Baseball’s National Players of the Week. The junior hit .560 (14-for-25) with four homers, 10 RBIs and 11 runs scored in leading the Huskers to a perfect 6-0 record. Gordon, who leads the Big 12 with a .437 average, had six multi-hit games last week, including a 3-for-4 effort with two homers, five RBIs and four runs scored in a win against Northern Colorado on Tuesday. Gordon is the second Husker to receive Collegiate Baseball’s National Player of the Week this season, joining Joba Chamberlain, who was honored after his 15 strikeout effort against New Mexico on Feb. 25. He is also the first Husker position player honored since Jed Morris in 2002. Quote Link to comment
