It's just "Ducky" for Suh

Per Tim Griffin's B12 Blog:

IRVING, Texas -- Nebraska defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh might be one of the biggest and strongest players on the Cornhuskers' roster.

But it still hasn't kept him from earning a nickname from his teammates that isn't exactly flattering.

Suh is known as "Ducky" because of his resemblance to a character in the 1988 cartoon movie "Land Before Time."

"He looks like Ducky that little dinosaur they have on there," Nebraska running back Roy Helu Jr. said. "We call him Ducky. Ndamukong is very interesting and a little outspoken."

Former Nebraska quarterback Joe Ganz was responsible for dubbing Suh with the nickname.

"It was all fun and games," Suh said. "We have this thing that's been there what people look like it. It was hilarious that Joe brought it out to the media last year."

Suh hasn't been called the nickname recently by his teammates but he's bracing for its return when the Cornhuskers return to fall practice.

"It hasn't been brought up lately," Suh said, laughing. "But I bet it will come back up."

Even if they are kidding Suh, the Cornhuskers are happy he returned for his senior season despite some projections he could have been a first-round pick if he had declared for the NFL Draft after last season.

Suh led the Cornhuskers with 76 tackles, 7 1/2 sacks and 11 1/2 tackles for losses. He also shared the team lead with two interceptions -- both of which he returned for touchdowns.

"I was so excited when he decided to come back," Helu said. "He's an anchor and everything. He's a leader and has done a great job in doing what we need."

Even if he does look like a cartoon character to his teammates.
