T_O_Bull
Forty seven years ago it started. 300 games have been played. Through good weather and bad the fans of the University of Nebraska have never stopped filling Memorial Stadium, a fanny for every seat, every football Saturday that came along, the hardest ticket in town. Its been a love affair that just continues to flourish and for every day that goes by it just gets stronger. There were a few recent years that seemed to test the streak. The stadium's capacity had grown by 10,000 seats, 13+% more spots for eager fans to fill. The vaunted offensive system was scrapped and a new coach, an outsider, brought in a system that was totally unlike the style play that had brought so much success. Traditions were no longer observed, walkons, once the moral backbone of the team, were discouraged and streak after streak fell by the wayside as the once proud program spiralled downard. Then after several years of absence the Legendary Coach returned and righted the ship that was and is Nebraska Football. The fans were tested but the love of the game and of the team never faltered. Congratulations to Husker Nation, to all of you with season tickets who are there week after week, to all of you who manage to get to one, two, three... games a year, and yes even to those of us who occasionally travel to a football Saturday in Lincoln and know that they will end up watching the game in a tavern or a sport's bar. Congratulations to all!!! You kept the streak alive. We are Husker Nation, we are strong, we are proud and we wear RED!!! T_O_B GO BIG RED Quote Link to comment
