Recruiting advantages of using Internet Medium?

Recommended Posts

After seeing Bo has a twitter account which totally shocked me i am curious what people think of coaches taking advantage of things like twitter/facebook/Myspace. If a coach uses these social networking sites does it give them a certain edge in recruiting over coaches who are older, say Paterno who may not use them? I know there are rules of direct contact with recruits but does that include befriending someone on a social networking site or following people on twitter? Just curious if anyone knows how these things play into recruiting and if it is a possible opportunity for coaches.

Other forms of electronic communications are forbidden in times of non contact just as a phone call or a text message would be. If a coach is communicating with potential recruits on a social network it would be a violation just the same.
