mattbri17
People act like the option is going to magically fix the crappy blocking and bad penalties. The line and WR coach need some new opportunties next year. That will fix most our ills. Why return to the option? We lost, big damn deal. We're 4-2 and we could have lost to Colorado like Kansas! No, we lost to Texas Tech. A very potent offense that is ranked #2 in the country in passing and scoring. To return to the option would just set us back another 4 years+ and then someone would write a post after a similiar loss saying "Return to the WCO?" Quote Link to comment
irafreak
We also lost at home as opposed to on the road. And one game was close and the other wasn't. Quote Link to comment
rkhufu7
Smaller, quicker OL and more I-formation. Quote Link to comment

First of all, Texas Tech's offense has absolutely nothing to do with our offense, unless one wants to make an argument that going back to the power running game would keep an offense like Texas Tech on the sideline and out of rhythm. (see "How to Beat the Spread Offense"). Everyone here wants a national championship, right? Will someone please explain to me just how we're going to accomplish that if we don't do something different than the other teams in the country? There are a slew of schools that have a tremendous recruiting advantage over Nebraska. What makes us so arrogant to think that we can run a similar type of offense as other schools while fielding inferior players (due to our recruiting disadvantage) and accomplish our goal of winning national championships? Divine intervention?? That's insane! We were faced with the same geographic challenges in the last decade as we are this decade. Somehow NU persevered in the face of this adversity. So, let's analyze it. Here are two key questions: 1. What made Nebraska successful in the past when faced with such a recruiting disadvantage? 2. When was the moment that the program began to slip, and did it have anything to do with the offense we were running or the personnel that were running it? Was it the defense, or lack thereof? You do the math. Quote Link to comment

He focused to much on options and could not recruit top flight I-backs or QBs to run the offense. Quote Link to comment
