suddenly a carbon copy of last year's team? Everyone hear thinks that they will absolutely roll us.

To win this game, we have to play, Beamer Ball. Defense giving us good field position and even a defensive score. Special teams needs to be focused the entire game, preying on OU's mistakes, like a botched hold on a field goal, blocking punts, solid blocking on returns, and lights out kick coverage. If the defense, and this is a big if, can take a pick to the house, and give us 7 points, that would help out tremendously, special teams returning a kick, or maybe just relying on our special teams to get us a field goal. 10-14 points from our defensive and special teams units would be a huge advantage in the game. As for offense, if our other two units give us points, then Cody would just have to sustain drives. Don't focus on the homerun ball, just move the sticks, points will come with that process.

 

Oh, and btw, since Landry Jones is a freshman, let's make that stadium a living hell for him, much like what we saw our own Zac Lee go through in Blacksburg.

You make a good point, esp the one about special teams. With how mediocre our punt return game has been, why aren't we going balls-to-the-wall trying to block punts? I'd like to see this team quit trying to set up a 3 yard return and go after the punter instead...just don't get stupid roughing penalties.

 

We REALLY should have done this during the Mizzou game, where we dropped every other punt. AND, if we were a little more aggressive on punts, that ISU punter maybe wouldn't have had a 20 yard gain on us.

We did block one saturday. Maybe they are working on this more. I wouldn't mind having the opposing punter nervous everytime he goes out to kick.

If we had the offense we did when the season started (with Castille) I'd think we may even pull this game off. Our offensive inconsistency is laughable, and is going to get shut down against this OU D. You can't make little mistakes against that and expect to win. If Green focuses on his receivers with tunnel vision and makes poor throws again this week, expect a lot more pick 6's. I think we're in trouble.
