Headed to the Holiday Bowl

Recommended Posts

My 13 year old son and I are headed from AZ to the Holiday Bowl in San Diego. We have never been to a Nebraska bowl game, or a home game for that matter. Went to a road game in Manhattan a few years ago, but that is it.

A few questions... Let me know your thoughts from your past experience, etc.

Husker Huddle

I have heard some positives and negatives, but not a lot of details.

What is the Husker Huddle normally like?

Is it just a glorified tailgate?

Are there guest speakers?

Your opinion - worth attending?

Pep Rally

What is the pep rally usually like?

Your opinion - worth attending?

Team walk through at Qualcomm

I have seen that this takes place the day before the game.

Is this something the public is allowed to attend?

Any other Husker related activities in San Diego that we should check out?

I have been to quite a few bowl games.......don't know a lot though..

1. Attended a "Husker Huddle" party and yes, it is a glorified tailgate...band and cheerleaders will make an appearance

2. We went to the public "pep rally" at the Gator Bowl and it was a blast. But I haven't seen when or were the one for the Holiday Bowl is.

3. I have never attended the stadium during "walk through", but my guess is the public isn't welcome, but only a guess.

4. We have found the "team hotel" a few times and gone to "hang out" for about 1/2 hour or so, just to sit back and watch the coaches/team. not stalking, just a good picture taking opportunity.

** This year, we bought tickets to the Holiday Bowl luncheon which includes battle of bands, both coaches talk, both team videos, etc....never attended but am excited.

** We usually just like to hang with and meet many husker fans.

Sorry not a lot of help.

Did the Husker Huddle last time NE played in the Holiday Bowl. Met some fun people and ran into others I knew from NE, but was pricey for the experience. I'd save my money and goto MacGregors in SD, home fo the Husker Den.

Take ME!

And my 8Yr old Son!

I was so tempted to rent a larger car and drive out after reading about 'Skers tailgate...Probably more fun than any pep rally..and what is the "Husker Huddle"?

I remember back in '95 when we played the Gators out here (Fiesta Bowl)..A Dog-park-buddy got us tickets to some lunch thing that included both teams...It was fun and the food was good, but we didn't get to interact with any of the players or coaches

Jon, here's what you got to do. Swing by my place the day before the game...(i'm in North Phx) bring an extra ticket, and I'll be your official tour guide for the Holiday Bowl. :)
