  1. <<Well the chances of getting by Michigan at their house is slim at best as I see it. They have found another QB I think that runs and passes. Spells danger and disaster for brothers Pelini. We really do not want any part of a BCS level team,>> I agree. Let's just to a low-level bowl game against a weaker opponent, perhaps one we've played and defeated in the regular season already. Oh wait. Nevermind.
  2. Yeah, like being in the Big 12 still.
  3. Wow! All this media attention! Now I know how Notre Dame fans feel.
  4. Not to start a pissing match over something that really should be a dead issue, but I do disagree with the bolded statement. I don't care what the trainer told Bo, he shouldn't of gone off on Taylor like that on national television. I don't mind Bo going off on a blind/biased official as was the case in the A&M game, but blowing up at a player during a game in front of everyone to see is wrong. Save it for the locker room. However, this one incident doesn't make Bo a bad coach just as much as it doesn't make Taylor a poor leader. I think we'll see a much more mature Bo and Taylor on the sidelines this year.
  5. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHmvkRoEowc I'm gonna make one of these on Taylor Martinez pretty soon. Except not sound quite as flaming. LEAVE TAYLOR MARTINEZ ALONE!
  6. And the Texas teams continue to blame Arkansas for the dissolution of the SWC. Not that the monumental corruption in that conference had anything to do with it. Nah, couldn't be that. I think it's in the NCAA rules: 1) It's never Texas' fault. 2) If it is Texas' fault, see rule 1.
  7. I seriously wonder if it's an Iowa fan trying to just make a few bucks. Kinda like the Boz-Buster shirts of the 80's.
  8. Especially agree with you there. But if we play any of the original 7 in the near future, I think we should insist that in both the home and away games that we get officials from a conference other than the Big 12, and to be fair to them, the Big 10.
  9. Word is they will be announcing the teams that will be "filling the holes" for the future nonconference schedules. What teams would you like to see scheduled? Not any one year in particular, just some teams that will make some good matchups. On my wish list are: LSU--Can't remember the last time we played an SEC team other than a bowl game (although we do have Tennesee on a future schedule). I think LSU would be a great team to play with the Pelini connections. TCU -- Good quality team and will be a member of the Big East next year. Arizona -- Wildcats are my distant 2nd favorite team being an AZ resident. Tucson's a fun drive and weekend getaway for me. UNLV -- I know, not a great team, but I just want another excuse to go to Vegas. Another question while on the topic...how long do you think it will be until we schedule a Big 12 team? Personally, I would like to see us boycott the Big 12 teams until Dan Beebe is no longer comish.
  10. Before everybody jumps on the DirecTv bandwagon, they had a dispute with Versus network a few years ago that prevented subscribers from seeing a few of the Husker games that were on the station that year. No huge whoop, but I don't think any Cable/Satellite network is without their drawbacks.
  11. 1) The BCS Championship game 2) The Big 10 Championship game 3) Wisconsin
  12. If Bo was to go next season, I would expect someone from within the coaching staff to get the nod. Probably Carl Pelini. But if Bo took the whole staff with him and he had no choice, I would try to lure Turner Gill away from Kansas. Sorry if my response wasn't sarcastic/assholeish enough to be on this thread.
  13. One thing about having 9 games in the Big 10 is that the chances of having a rematch in the CCG increase. I'm not a big fan of rematches in college football, and would rather see that extra slot for a quality nonconference opponent. On the other hand though, 10 teams won't be playing in the CCG, but knowing it's the 2nd time the teams match up always takes a bit of the luster out of the game (see Washington 2010).
  14. I'm surprised Bo allows tweeting from the players. I can really see nothing good coming from players doing it. As a teacher, I have a facebook but prohibit my students from viewing and never discuss my job. While I probably could, I just know that someday what I post will be taken out of context by someone with absolutely no life and cause a big stink, much like what happened to Yoshi.
  15. That wont matter soon. How are we going to get top recruits if we aren't even an AAU school? LOL I can see it now..."So here's the University of Nebraska, Mr. Top Football recruit. We have one of the richest traditions in college football, an NCAA record sell out streak, top notch facilities, and a dedicated staff with a track record of developing recruits into NFL caliber players." Recruit: "Yes, but are you in AAU school?" "Um, no, we aren't but we...." Recruit: "Sorry, this obviously is not the place for me. Can someone please take me to Boulder?"
  16. If you ever catch a late night Pac 10 game on Fox Sports Channel there is an announcer named something like "Petros Papadakis" or something like that. Don't care to look it up, but his voice sounds absolutely horrific. I really can't tell you about what he talks about because I just can't get over the way his voice sounds.
  17. Texas = Ohio State Based on the fact that they excel in almost every sport Oklahoma = Penn State Rich tradition Colorado = Iowa Up and down team with the rivalry factor Missouri = Michigan/Michigan State A real stretch here. Wouldn't have said this 5 years ago, but a quality team in our division. Kansas St = Northwestern Struggled in the past, few really good years, now just a shade above mediocrity Texas Tech (Mike Leach era) = Wisconsin Totally different styles of football, but always seem to produce good teams Oklahoma State = Purdue More in offensive styles as opposed to football success Kansas = Indiana A basketball school that usually struggles in football Iowa State/Baylor = Illinois An occasional good season, but usually....no.
  18. Yeah, we struggled against South Dakota State last because shmucko Husker fan here in Arizona and others on the board predicted at the beginning of the season it would be the easiest game of the year. When will these players stop reading these message boards and trying to teach us lessons on taking games seriously?
  19. This matchup excites me about 10 times more than the annual game against CU. I could just never really get into that game, even the few years that Colorado actually fielded a decent team.
  20. I remember the ESPN writer for the Big 12 (sorry, name not coming to me and don't feel like looking it up) said that Nebraska was the most interesting team off the field to watch last season, and you really hit the nail on the head here. It's pretty amazing we were as successful as we were with all the distractions. Well said. It's the coaches job not to let it get "that bad". As much as this appears to be true, I'm sure another part of it was the fact we already stomped Washington into the ground earlier in the year and we just plain old "didn't want to be there", because during the Oklahoma game it didn't look like we gave up, but for the bowl game, combining the fact that the team may have started turning on Martinez plus the fact we didn't want to play in a re-match, could have all equaled what we saw on the field that night. I just think with all the hooplah of the last Big XII season, Texas, Oklahoma, getting robbed against A&M, last conference trips to Manhattan, Stillwater, Ames, College Station, still upset about 00:01, moving conferences, "not running from Texas", Freshman Quarterback, dropped passes, Watson under controversy, Eric Martin hit/suspension, Cotton's parts being grabbed and nothing was done about it, Beebe not showing up to present us the North trophy, Beebe saying there were threats against him that were never followed up on, Taylor quitting/not quitting/quitting/not quitting, Bo's demeanor at A&M, one last time against Oklahoma, Another Biased Call signs and waving yellow flags during the Colorado game, quarterback controversy at the start of the year, Zac Who talk, minimal depth at quarterback....I think that just mentally wore on the team, coaching staff, and fans to the fact that we choked away the Big XII Championship game, and a re-match in the same bowl as the year before against a team we already blew out....ya we were done after the announcement of what bowl we would play in. We clearly weren't interested in being there, and it showed, and it showed even more if that was the game the team gave up on the season and finally Martinez at that point in time if it happened However, it's still the coaches jobs to not let it get to that level. Time to circle the wagons, move on and all we can worry about is next year.
  21. And the tallest building in Wyoming is (scroll down the page to Wyoming) . . . Wikipedia A seven storey dorm! Guess it keeps the suicide rate down.
  22. We should be happy that Bo lets the University sell tickets and the local newspapers report it.
  23. You never know.... a lot of people didn't expect Joe Ganz to see much playing time, and look what he did for our program.
