Nexus
No expansion talk here. Just replacement. The Nebraska football program is planning to redress one of its two grass practice fields with FieldTurf. The Huskers use the two grass fields east of the Hawks Championship Center often during spring and fall practices. Nebraska associate AD John Ingram said it’s the grass field closest to the Hawks indoor practice facility that will be replaced with the same type of FieldTurf found inside Memorial Stadium. “With our climate and only having two (outside) practice fields, they don’t really hold up too long,” Ingram said. “So you go out there for two-a-days and the grass is pretty beat up after a couple of days and it’s hard to get it to recover. “So we just need extra practice space that’s reliable.” The new practice field is among the items that will be reported to the University of Nebraska Board of Regents this Friday. According to the meeting’s agenda report, the contract bid to put in the FieldTurf is $321,717. The new practice surface should be in place by the time fall camp begins on Aug. 7. Briefly Also at Friday’s regents meeting, University of Nebraska president J.B. Milliken will report the naming of the Ndamukong Suh Strength and Conditioning Center at the Osborne Athletic Complex. Suh recently gave a $2.6 million gift to the university, including $2 million to go toward athletics and $600,000 to endow a scholarship in the College of Engineering, from which he earned his degree in December 2009. whateveritis1224
Good story, nice to see they're naming the Strength and Conditioning center after Suh, and they're already using some of the money Suh gave to improve the facilities. Quote Link to comment
GMoose
NO! The recruits won't be able to pronounce the name on the facilities! (which they always seem to be so enamored with). This is a bad recruiting strategy. Quote Link to comment

HuskerfaninOkieland
When the doors open to the S&C building, you won't hear any squeeks. Instead you'll hear "Suuuuhhhhhhhhhh" as they swing open. Quote Link to comment
Husker_x
$321,717 Wonder where the rest is going to go. Quote Link to comment
bbeerma2
Scholarship 600k may seem like an awkward number, but they have it all worked out mathematically to what they need monetarily to provide a certain dollar value scholarship and have the endowment eternally fund it. Quote Link to comment
