Omaha-Husker
Only reason I find this interesting is that he was building one of the best resumes in college baseball history. Bummed to probably never see a Tanner coached team in Omaha again. Quote Link to comment
Excel
Mixed feelings on this one. I'm happy for Tanner as its clearly what he wanted and it means he'll stick around USC for awhile. On the other side of things its probably not great news for the Baseball team and there were more "qualified" candidates, at least with experience working as AD's, who were, apparently, interested in the job. We'll see what happens. Either way it'll be hard to fill Hyman's shoes. He oversaw a huge turn around in Gamecock athletics and made some great coaching hires and facility upgrades. Tanner's got work to do but at least he'll have fan support for as long as he wants the job. Quote Link to comment
Omaha-Husker
Just a shame the sport had to lose on of the best they have. Loved how his teams played the game and he was a great ambassador for the sport. Hope he continues to push college baseball as a whole into the forefront in his new position. Quote Link to comment
Nexus
Good thing T.O. didn't hire Chad Holbrook last year when he had the opportunity, huh? I remember a contingent of Husker baseball fans wanting Holbrook as the next HC instead of Erstad. Holbrook would've left Nebraska in a heartbeat to go back to S.C. and who could've blamed him?
