hskrfan4life
I did some research to see how Nebraska compares with the Top 5 teams in the nation in Runs Allowed With Two Outs. I did not count any runs that were scored via sacrifice. This would be determined as a runner on third and tagging up during a fly ball that would result in the second out same with a sac bunt, even though I don't believe that has been attempted against us. First off here are the Top 5 teams according to Baseball America 1. Virginia 2. Cal Poly 3. Louisiana-Lafayette 4. Florida State 5. Oregon State Now for the breakdown Virginia has allowed 28* earned runs with two outs, 7* unearned runs with two outs. They have given up 105* total runs this season, 95* of those are earned. So given a total of 35* runs allowed with two outs that is 33.3% of their runs coming with two outs. Cal Poly has allowed 35 earned runs and 5 unearned runs with two outs. They have given up 131 total runs, 117 of those are earned. A given total of 40 runs allowed with two outs. That is 30.5% of their runs coming with two outs. Louisiana-Lafayette has allowed 38 earned runs and 9 unearned runs with two outs. They have given up 164 total runs, 145 of those earned. A given total of 47 runs allowed with two outs. That is 28.7% of their runs coming with two outs. Florida State has allowed 34 earned runs and 10 unearned runs with two outs. They have given up 149 total runs, 132 of those earned. A given total of 44 runs allowed with two outs. That is 29.5% of their runs coming with two outs. Oregon State has allowed 31 earned runs and 9 unearned runs with two outs. They have given up 105 total runs, 83 of those earned. A given total of 40 runs allowed with two outs. That is 38.1% of their runs coming with two outs. Nebraska has allowed 82 earned runs and 5 unearned runs with two outs. They have given up 206 total runs, 170 of those earned. A given total of 87 runs allowed with two outs. That is 42.2% of their runs coming with two outs. So after all this, Nebraska does have work to do to catch up to the top teams. They need to be able to get out of jams with two outs and finish innings. 2 Quote Link to comment
wiuhusker
I never would have guessed that the top teams would have that high of a percentage. Obviously Nebraska is having a harder time getting out of innings but apparently its not just limited to them. Also the fact that Virginia has only given up 105 runs this year is ridiculous.
