California Husker
So, I saw this article and of course I noticed Nebraska wasn't even in the top 25 in spending. I was a little surprised, especially when you see Wisconsin in there at #4 in spending.I believe, based on articles I have read elsewhere, that Nebraska's football program brings in somewhere in the range of $75 - $80 million annually...which would rank revenues among the top programs. (The latest figures I saw were something like 5 years old however...I don't know how much NU brought in in 2012, the year this report covers). And I guess the question would be....if Nebraska takes in top 25 money, are they not as committed to making the program a top program, or are there other mitigating factors? Maybe it's just because things are less expensive in Lincoln? Maybe the power-that-be are just WAY better at managing money at NU? I don't know.... Maybe someone who follows the $$$ a little closer can shed some light?http://www.bizjournals.com/nashville/slideshow/2014/08/29/college-footballs-most-expensive-programs.html?s=image_gallery&img_no=25?ana=rss_nsh_tabo Quote Link to comment
NUance
It's nearly impossible to compare apples to apples anytime you compare the budgets of companies, political states, charitable organizations, etc. Football programs are no different. I'm guessing that the various schools classify expenditures in widely differing ways. That would explain Wisconsin at #4. There's just no possible way Wisconsin spends more than schools like LSU and Oklahoma. Quote Link to comment
Hingle McCringleberry
Something isn't right. USA Today has us the same way... http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/schools/finances/ Omaha has us over 100 million... http://www.omaha.com/huskers/nebraska-s-athletic-budget-will-top-million-for-st-time/article_a644fe2e-23e3-11e4-9efe-0017a43b2370.html Looking deeper the top link is for 2013, and the Omaha post is for this year, but the numbers are still of by millions. I'm not sure about the USA Today numbers, but the one from Omaha.com is for the Athletic budget. The link I put in the original post is just for football. I was not able to find the football budget for the Huskers...maybe I didn't look hard enough.... Quote Link to comment
WoodyHayes1951
All these lists are garbage. Just spend and do what Oregon is doing(or get close to it). Oregon's facilities are sick. No one should care how much Notre Dame is making or how many 5 stars they are recruiting. Obviously their money doesn't match Oregon's success. Quote Link to comment
