Couldn't help but notice Mark Banker looking confused on the sideline. With BYU on pace for 600 yards, is it still too late for the Mike Riley era to switch to a 3-4 like 80% of the successful NFL teams have?

BYU's 3-4 looks a heck of a lot more formidable.

We got little pressure. Almost none..... We rushed 4 they blocked with 5-6...... Their back up looked like a Hypesman hopeful....

We don't have the Linebackers for a 3-4, but without a true rush end, we have the d-line for it. I personally favor a 3-4 front seven and a cover 4/quarters secondary. In a pinch, you can drop 8 into coverage, 4 over top and 4 underneath. You can put 9 in the box by either blitzing the corners or dropping the safeties into the box. Its versatile, has the potential for literally everything you can think of defensively. It can hold the running game to short yards, it can smother the passing game, and if you coach it right, you can adjust it on the field to stop any formation without substitutions, even a 5 WR look. Its weakness is a well coached power run team unless you're run blitzing your LBs and dropping your safeties in the box, but that leaves you vulnerable to screens and play action.
