Huskers Looking Forward to 2016

NU loses four seniors, among them a pair of starters, from the national championship group. But not only are the Huskers set to return five talented starters in 2016, they also bring back the core that formed the team’s circle of camaraderie this season.

Amber and Kadie Rolfzen, coming off decorated junior seasons in which both achieved All-America honors, will be seniors. Setter Kelly Hunter, whose rapid improvement in her first year as a starter mirrored Nebraska’s late-season rise, will be back as a junior.
Freshman outside hitter Mikaela Foecke, the final four’s most outstanding performer, will have an offseason in NU’s strength and conditioning program to facilitate a successful encore to her spectacular debut.
The unsung heroines of NU’s title run, the back row of libero Justine Wong-Orantes and defensive specialists Kenzie Maloney and Annika Albrecht, all were underclassmen. That should mean NU’s passing, ball-handling and floor defense will be the envy of the Big Ten.
Add to the mix serving specialists Sydney Townsend and Brooke Smith and all of NU’s top servers are expected to be back.
