  1. Crazy game. Some Jekyl and Hyde like quarters for these two teams. Thought I'd part with a couple post game thoughts: I thought Tommy Armstrong looked much improved as a passer when he had time to throw. BYU wasn't getting any pressure that first quarter and TA was nails on those timing routes. It wasn't until Bronco mixed up the blitz packages and started bringing guys from all over that he regressed to the TA of last year. Your inexperienced line will get better. Also, it looked as though you found a bit of a run game in the second half. I know Spielman and crew made a big deal over it, but I don't think it was coincidental that it improved once Tuiloma went out. My heart is broken for Taysom. All world athlete with crazy potential all for naught because he is made of glass. There is BYU Photo of Mitch Matthews presenting him a game ball in the locker room and Taysom is crying. Bronco said he suffered the lisfranc injury on the TD run. He went and had the foot taped and continued to play until that awkward slide forced him to stop. I think you guys saw glimpses of why he is so special. I know most of you don't think much of BYU, but I think we have a decent squad. It will be interesting to see how the rest of September goes without Hill, but I am encouraged by what I saw out of Mangum. I don't believe there should be any shame in losing to us. But that's just me. You won't face the height of BYU's receivers the rest of the year. You have some playmakers on your team. I think you will be just fine. I knew that there would be some growing pains with a new system for you guys. Many scoffed at that. But the penalties, especially those procedural ones are reflective of that. Those will work themselves out with more familiarity with the system. But they were a killer tonight. Give your OL more experience and design some protection schemes to allow TA to throw and incorporate more options for him to run and you'll be fine. Anyway, you all are a hospitable bunch. Thanks for entertaining me the last couple days.
  2. You can add the Gameday crew. Pollack, Herbie and Desmond all pick BYU.
  3. Streaks are ending today. I think after you lose you will change your mid-major tune. May Taysom have mercy on your soul.
  4. This is wishful thinking. They didn't give specifics because there are none. Based on everything I have heard, Kai Nacua will be the only player suspended for the brawl. There will be 3 others players suspended for off the field incidents, one of which will miss just the first half. Takitaki is one of those and his suspension was announced weeks ago.
  5. Mike Riley hasn't faced BYU with their new offense.
  6. I think this was the cause of a lot of the replies on the BYU thread. It was pretty clear that he didn't think he'd suspend anyone else. joke. BYU talks integrity only? Yes. Lip service only.
  7. I know nothing about your rbs besides the starter (?) left school. I have heard that each of your wrs are about 7'3". The tallest WR is 6'6" according to their roster Here is one of the 6'-6" receivers. Mitch Mathews. He's a senior. https://twitter.com/mitchmathews10/status/585951981505646592 Nick Kurtz is the other and he is a 6'-5" JC transfer Junior that turned down offers from Oregon and USC to come to BYU. Broke his foot lost year so he has a year in the system. Devon Blackmon is a 6'-1" JC transfer senior that had a rough time learning the offense last year. He spent his first year at Oregon so he has some speed and looks to make a big splash this year. Should be interesting to see how they match up with your athletic secondary. The RBs are going to miss Jamaal WIlliams this year. He had a knack for getting an extra 3 or 4 yards just about every play. Algernon Brown is a bit of a bruiser back at 235 lbs and has great hands out of the backfield. Behind him depth is a little scary as we have Adam Hine (great kick return man but not great laterally) and walk-on, 5'-8" Nate Carter that will provide some sort of change of speed to the RB spot. Will be interesting to see who will step up to the plate with the extra carries this year. I would like to introduce you to Mr. Westerkamp...
  8. Good morning Huskers. http://bigstory.ap.org/article/0578bbc46d8248f6a45ab33b74ab42d5/taysom-hill-byu-offense-lead-way-brutal-early-schedule
  9. I'm not too concerned about your RBs due to the fact I think our front seven is going to be pretty good and I haven't heard of any world beaters in your back field. I am a little concerned about your WR because I hear you have two that are pretty tall. Haven't heard much about them other than their height. My son is a HS sophomore at 6'6" and I wouldn't be too concerned about him as a WR. The concern comes that our new defense has our CBs on an island more so that we can stop the run. Now, that works if you can put pressure on the QB. If you look back at the 96 Fiesta Bowl against Wuerfle (sp?). We put our CBs on an island by themselves, but the key was, he had absolutely no time to even look for them. You can not leave any CB out there for very long or a good QB is going to find an open receiver. So, I think that's where the key is on this entire game. Can our front 7 first contain your QB and then put so much pressure on him that he doesn't have time to find these giants roaming the frontier? I'm worried about your defensive linemen. I am not worried about your LBs at all.
  10. Did not know there were other players besides Taysom. Will have to check it out. We did lose DPE, our punt and kickoff return specialist. I still think the special teams are often overlooked. Even without DPE, we have top level talent in the kicking game and also some pretty decent return guys besides DPE. DPE is special. BYU's kick returner Adam Hine is very good. However, our special teams likes to block in the back and hold negating many of his big returns. Also, they can't stay onside on kickoffs. It kills me.
  11. Glory...as BYU fans we get this on every board we visit. We (well most of us) don't judge a fan base by a few religious bigots but thank you for your comments. They're true and timly. It's expected, because of which it doesn't bother me. It is low hanging fruit to be honest.
  12. Oh, I completely agree. That is exactly what the game is about. To me it just seem funny how everyone is making Hill out to be this super human. They did it with Jake Locker a couple of years ago. It is not the guys that you have respect for that you have to worry about a lot of times it is the ones you don't respect. Like the QB at Minnesota he killed us last year. I disagree. Taysom is the kind of player who can win a game by himself. Really? that would be cool to see. I have never seen one player go against an entire 11 man team all by themselves. By the sounds of it, we might see him do that this Saturday. You probably will.
