Man, it just hurts to see how far off the team has fallen from the simple fundamentals. Charlie McBride played man-to-man in the secondary always. We always rushed 5 or more. LB's were always in position to make the plays. You try to get fancy and you take it in the keester.- 2,134 replies

Martinez is the ONLY guy on the team that can make mistake after mistake after mistake and not have to worry about competing for his job on a weekly basis. How many different defensive packages have we seen this year so far? One guy blows coverage on one play and he sits for 3 weeks. Everyone is on pins and needles playing, not wanting to make a mistake because they'll sit for a week. These coaches are hurting us. Badly.- 2,134 replies

Too bad we can't get the ball into Bell's hands more often. Bubble screen, end around....something. That guy is a play maker.- 2,134 replies

I guess my original post was to point out that all you need to do is be able to manage a game and let the 'team' aspect win it for you. Instead we play to the perceived strengths of a select few, become one dimensional, and are usually out of the big games by the middle of the third quarter.
-
Why aren't we playing to TM's strengths? Throw occasionally and run the heck out of the ball? Why are we trying to stay 50/50? Even the 'c$%ks' know to clear the zone with receivers and have their QB scramble for 10-20yds when needed. Why doesn't NU? So much talent and possibilities are at hand, yet almost none of it is being realized or utilized. Too bad. On a brighter note.....booked my hotel room in So. Cal for the UCLA game.........See you there!!!!

Southern Miss on the schedule next year

Never really seems like we're ready for the 1st game of the season. Had a couple of close calls against teams we should have plowed over. Usually play a bit better the second game........Next year is going to be interesting. All Pelini's guys now. -
Going to UCLA too!!!! GBR!!!

Scott Frost's "thoughts" from 2005 still relevant today.
Husker in CA replied to Mid Coast Offense's topic in Husker Football
I think Bo and his staff need to be reaching out to more high schools in Nebraska and getting feelers out to all of the coaches. Maybe tell the coaches what kind of players NU looks for....what they need, etc. I saw a few players on other teams this year from Nebraska that were doing pretty decent things AGAINST us in games. Why or how we didn't end up with them is a moot point. The point is, have great relationships with coaches from all over the state might aid you in getting the tips on good players coming from close to home. Make it so little kids playing pee-wee football want to play for NU and no one else. And keep fueling that fire.
