  1. Here is something to take into consideration when trying to neutralize the SC receivers. Watching them over the last few years, they never run out of the shotgun, everything seems to be under center. So how do they get it to their WRs quickly? Quick slants, outs, whatever. How do you neutralize that? Play bump and run, that way they can't get open right away and it gives our d-line more time to get to Booty. I hope they are looking into this.
  2. We need to run some different running plays instead of just plain dives and isos. Maybe mix in some counter action or other mis-direction plays. And yes Purify needs to become more involved, he will be a huge asset down near the goaline, although I think our tight ends are too. Secondary needs to play 10x better, it's obvious where our weakness on D is. And how come we only had 2 sacks today and they were both in the first few plays?
  3. I was wondering if we were even working on special teams this year. There has been no mention of it anywhere. Grixby/Nunn will probably share the PR spot again. As for the KRs, I think Wilson and BJax/Green should be used. But they have a lot of options for returning kicks so I guess we'll find out later today!
  4. And don't worry, the NU game is on every Fox Sports regional network at 2:30 central time.
  5. It's ironic because in '95 we went up to Lansing and pummeled the Spartans. Could you imagine TO coaching against his former team? NO WAY
  6. As far as the off-field problems go, you would think that Lincoln is a little bit of a step down compared to Tempe in terms of distractions. Plus, it's his final year and he has NFL scouts on him, you would think he would get his act together if he wants to keep playing at the next level. On a side note, I remember seeing him play last year against somebody and he absolutely lit their D up. He really utilized his big receiver, Hagan I believe was his name. I think he would be a great fit in our offense especially with the talent that should be back next year.
  7. Dude, ZT put up like 430 yards in the air. The only problem was they couldn't put it in the end zone.
  8. Looking at our schedule we don't have a bye week until the week before the Colorado game. I believe this is a result of the new 13-game scheduling. Glancing at other B12 teams, everyone is pretty much in the same boat with a bye week coming towards the end of the regular season or not having one at all. Hopefully our offense is in full swing right from the start and we won't need an extra week to tweak things out. It was obvious having the bye before Iowa St. last year was huge as the passing attack came out of nowhere. So it will be a true test of endurance and committment week in and week out this year. Any thoughts?
  9. "On nearly all changes of possession, the ball will be spotted by the officials and the clock started rather than starting it on the first snap. An incomplete pass or a player going out of bounds won't always keep the clock stopped either, including on a fourth-down pass that's incomplete and a defender running out of bounds with an interception." This is a bunch of BS if you ask me. There will definately be games this year that get decided by this lame excuse of long games. In particular, I don't really understand the last paragraph. Could you imagine a 2-minute drill? You get a nice gain of 15 yards, running out of bounds, and the clock doesn't stop? Or with the interception, what if you have the following situation: your team is down by 2 with 20 seconds left and the opponent is driving at midfield. They throw a long pass and you pick it off, returning it to their 25 before being shoved out of bounds with 7 seconds left. Does the clock run out? Just food for thought, but I think these rules are a little un-football like. It's unfortunate television (w/ the exception of tv timeouts) has to interfere with the way the game is played. Morons.
  10. It depends, I've strained my left one twice and right one once. Straining is just like pulliing. It says he has a sore hamstring which he should be able to recover from soon. Bowman pulled his in the Maine game last year but was starting by game 4 or 5 I believe. Dre will just get treatment everyday (ultrasounds, stems, with ice or heating) and he should be good to go for LaTech.
  11. That's probably the difference between you and a guy that is in great shape, it's all about the recovery time. Not saying you aren't in good shape, I have no idea, but these guys are D1 cornerbacks who go through pretty rough conditioning. Bowman pulled his hammy in first game against Maine and he took over as starter in the fourth or fifth game of the season. I think Dre will be just fine, but he doesn't need to rush back by tomorrow.
  12. Sore hamstring? Come on, that isn't too serious. Relax folks, he will be fine for the LTech game.
  13. Yeah he got the boot from 810. That's ok because they are much better off without his sorry a**.
  14. This guy is a straight up idiot. His columns in the KC Star are further evidence. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story...whitlock/060817
  15. I liked Randy Jordan's comments about run-blocking in that if you can't run-block you probably won't play. So if Lucky is our #1 back and he is in it might be obvious to the defense we are going to run, and conversely if we take him out we are probably going to pass. This is not something that will be noticeable in the first game but if we do this and become predictable that wouldn't be good. Just a thought, what do you guys think?
  16. Hahjulealuah! Not sure how to spell it! GBR!!!
  17. OK nevermind, it's all over Red Sea Scrolls over on HI.com They are saying it didn't burst, but either way get him operated on now and it might be only 2-4 weeks. So maybe the USC game depending on recovery time.
  18. What board did you see that on? I don't see anything about it anywhere. If it's true that sucks. Hopefully he can get back ASAP.
  19. That would be nice, but it is bound to happen.
  20. Man our offense sure looks bright for the future, especially at WR & RB. WR #years left Swift 3 Nunn 2 Purify 2 Hardy 3 Holt 4 Henry 4 Brooks 3 Spain (if he goes back) 2 RB Lucky 3 Glenn 3 Jackson 2 Wilson 2 Now we just need to make sure our backup QBs (Ganz, Hildebrand) get some action this year so they are ready for the years to come. Also, I'm sure our offensive line will keep getting better and better each year. Look out! GBR!
  21. Let's face it, the key to the NU-ISU game will be who wins the turnover battle. If we give them the ball in good field position we could be in for a long day. However, I think Stevie Hicks is overrated and we should be able to get to Bret Meyer again this year. It would be nice if Bowman was there to lock on Blythe, but I think Jones can hang with him. NU 34 ISU 24
  22. Freeman is obviously Prince's guy. You know at some point he will get thrown into the fire this year. If Meier goes down, especially early, Freeman is in for a long season. It could really affect him down the road.
  23. I find it interesting that Bomar receives $18,000 in cash benefits and gets the boot, Jarrett receives $18,000 in rent benefits and he'll miss no games. WTF?? http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=2544968
