  1. You would think that after bookies everywhere lost tons of cash on Saturday's game, that they would be a bit more wary. This isn't the same Husker team that didn't cover the spreads against Maine and Pitt.
  2. How can you say we're screwed? Herian will be back and Mike McNeil is a solid recruit. Don't forget about Tomerlin and the coaches can always move Zach Potter to TE.
  3. If I was bothered by all of the ignorant wretch spewed out by the media, I would surely have several complexes by now. Several more anyway.
  4. I'll go with the two Cory's. I think that it will be interesting playing on the road and coming off of a loss. I think Nebraska should roll, but we also very capable of beating ourselves, especially if we don't cope well with the above mentioned intangibles. I just don't see Baylor going toe to toe with us and coming out with a W.
  5. Oklahoma a loss? Oklahoma is a horrible team. If Adrian Peterson plays in the game, its a game. If AP doesn't play, NU wins this one by 2 touchdowns. Kansas St managed to make Bret Bohmar look like a good QB. Our defense wont be as kind to him as Kstate was. If KU hangs with Oklahoma or even beats them, then OU doesn't deserve to go bowling this year. Seems everyone who writes about OU these days says that if OU wins the game against Kansas but struggles, they will be very hard pressed to win 3 more games to make a bowl. I think it's too early to count out Oklahoma. We seemed to have turned a corner on offense, perhaps Oklahoma can do the same thing. The only thing that really scares me about the Sooners is the level of talent. Most of the guys on their roster were pretty highly sought after out of high school. If things start clicking for them, they could give us trouble. For anyone that cares, I believe Evridge is going to be K-State's starter this week. I hope we beat the 'cats bad. Living down here on the Kansas-Nebraska border (Nebraska side of course), I have to put up with a lot of K-State crap. They are second only to Colorado in my list of most hated teams.
  6. Unless the Huskers self destruct with penalties and turnovers, I just don't see Baylor pulling this one out. Their offense isn't much better than ours was through our first three games, and their defense and special teams have actually performed similarly to ours. The offense has the edge, and the Huskers get the W. GBR!!!
  7. I was pumped after the Texas Tech game. We showed heart, character, and the most progress from one game to the next that we have seen under Callahan. As the Baylor game approaches, I think it is natural for my enthusiasm to diminish. Is Tech that good? How will injuries affect us for the rest of the season? Did Baylor make Iowa State look foolish or did Iowa State do that themselves? Lots of questions, and 4 more days before the answers. What are your thoughts?
  8. This is a rumor that I believe has some truth to it, and I hate to even bring it up because I cannot confirm or deny it. A person I work with has a sister who lived close to the Solich's, and the rumor is that he had a girlfriend who was an enrolled student who he got pregnant. Don't know if it's true, and I don't know if it had anything to do with the firing, but this could be the personal problem you speak of. Again, take this with a grain of salt. This is not the gospel.
  9. Former - Your posts really make many of us doubt that you are a fellow NU fan. I'm not going to say you are or you aren't because I don't know you personally, but you have to admit that the doubt may be justified with a lot of your posts.
  10. Not really all that relevant, but anyone else here thinks he looks like Mekhai Pfeifer from ER?
  11. Former had a lot of valid points in posts related to previous games, but after a solid performance in all aspects against Tech, his true colors are really starting to show. He complains about coaching, recruiting, etc. It really is ridiculous. I think some of you really give this guy too much credibility. I for one won't be taking any of his posts seriously in the future.
  12. Since we got creamed by Colorado and Miami in 2001, then followed that up with a 7-7 season, then won 10 games the next year but got blown out when we played 3 of the better teams in the Big XII, and followed that up with a 5-6 season. Quit living in the distant past and realize that we need to improve to compete with the big boys. Nebraska is showing that we are making those strides, and that excites a lot of us who long for Nebraska to start a new run of "glory days".
  13. Benard - If you can't see that the Huskers are vastly improved from the Maine game, you are blind.
  14. You made my post so much better with your additions. I agree wholeheartedly. If we continue to make strides this year, everyone on our schedule better be scared. And next year - watch out.
  15. It is so hard to keep myself still from playing the "what if" game. I think any win is better than a loss, but it really is great to see that we can compete with one of the better teams in the Big 12. This was not the case in our 10-3 season. It's also nice to have a team that runs an offense that can actually come back from a decent deficit. Not as nice as having a team that never gets into a decent deficit, but it's nice nonetheless.
  16. Just another piece of info - I ran into a bunch of Texas Tech fans in Belleville, Kansas today. We talked a bit about the game, and the gentleman I spoke with talked about how well he was treated in Lincoln and how fans in Lubbock wouldn't be anywhere close to as gracious as us Husker fans. We truly are one of a kind.
  17. No transition is without it's bumps and bruises. This was a bump, but it was also a learning experience. A loss is still a loss, but it can definitely help this team grow. I am also encouraged by our performance today. This is going to be one heck of a season. I don't know what our record will be, but I think that we will play hard and not give up no matter what happens. I also predict a winning season and a bowl game (not much of a limb I'm out on there). Watch out for the Huskers next year.
  18. I totally agree about Baylor. Not only is Baylor much improved from last year, but they are also our first road game and our first game after a loss. For the 4th week in a row, we will find out a helluva lot after next Saturday.
  19. Here's an idea that I think a lot of people would like. Nameless gets the Huskers and Former gets Baylor. The loser leaves this board FOREVER. GBR!!!
  20. Right on!! This season this team has become a TEAM.Once Bill started to get rid of all the motions the offense has started to click.I'm starting to see improvements in all the young players.Zakk was 21-35 today. The last two games he has a good completion %.Bill is useing all the running backs and all the wide receivers. The defensive is almost back to the level of the top BLACKSHIRTS that have roam the field. This was a great game and just think if we won this game. Don't do that "what if" thing to me BLS, I am still trying to overcome the "what ifs" myself. What if LeKevin downed the ball, what if we scored a touchdown on Ruud's fumble recovery. It doesn't do any good. Mcrooks, great post. I agree with you wholeheartedly. It looks like this staff might be getting the hang of the college game after all.
  21. except for maybe USC and Virginia Tech. I'm not saying that I think we would beat teams the likes of Texas, Alabama, and Ohio State; but I think that we could make it a game with almost anyone in the country and at least make a respectable showing. This is the first time I've felt like that since Eric Crouch was QB, and it's a good feeling. GBR!
  22. Former - I think that you've really outdone yourself this time. The offensive numbers are similar only because the O played like crap the first 3 games. Now that things seem to be clicking, can you honestly watch ZT with his poise under pressure, his checkoffs on the progressions, and his accuracy and compare him to Dailey? The O as it has played the last two weeks is seriously better than last year (and this is against the 2 best defenses that we have faced this year). I've never thought that any of your posts were way out of line, but this post seems to prove you either don't understand football, are blinded by your contempt for our coaching staff, or are just a very delusional person (not a realist like you say).
  23. DaveH - That article was great. Thanks for posting the link. I never knew a fan could feel pride just for being a fan, but that is the way that article made me feel.
