I hope. Inconsistent play is just infuriating. LOL....Husker_x...sometimes your posts annoy me, even though most often I agree with your point. Just realized it is your clown pic that pisses me off for some reason. LOL -

Return of the Attacking Blackshirts Defense?
grandpasknee replied to The Duke's topic in Husker Football
Maybe they are feeling our DBs are good enough to cover even if we attack...that's awesome if it is the case. Would love to see the D start knocking suckers out ala Peters, Polk, SandMan and Wistrom... -
I got to thinking I wanted to post a few thoughts and / or comments about tomorrow's game, but couldn't find a suitable thread, so thought I'd start this one. Kind of like the "Official Game Thread" only prior. Surely I"m not the only one that just wants to talk about the game without restricting it to a certain topic? Heard this morning you could get three tickets for $9, but they are now up to around $10 each. Even at that, if I were still a young sprout I'd grab two buddies and pull an all night road trip to go see the game. How fun would that be? There has been a lot of talk about MSU's defense and how good they are, and I don't argue that...they have been good. But I'm thinking even good units have bad days, and tomorrow is going to be one of those bad days for the MSU defense. Some have posted that their D has been talking about revenge for last year and coming out all fired up, yada, yada, yada. My belief is that will be their downfall. They are going to be coming with their "ears pinned back" and we will burn them early going down the field to Mr Bell and Mr Enunwa, etc. At that point, the air will go out of the MSU D, they'll be confused and broken the rest of the game. Our D will play well with good, basic football along the line and superior play in the defensive backfield. MSU will not score more than 16 points. On the other side of the ball, we will have a good, solid game with minimum mistakes, both in terms of turnovers and penalties. With the MSU D deflated, we score 20+ points before half time and coast in around 42 points for the day. Downside of the day is...we still won't have a punt / kick off return for more than 10 yards....and we will still have to burn at least one Time Out that will make us all scratch our heads... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO BIG RED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We will score. If our D can have a big night, which is looking more and more possible lately, we win. Don't think we'll be plagued by the turnovers. I think Beck will call a good game. Can't remember the 4th one.

This ^^^^^ It is fun to ignore all of the "what ifs" before then and just imagine this game. We would probably lose, but I don't think it would be a throttling. I suspect with a bit of time, Bo, doing what he does best, might be able to scheme a defense that would at least slow them down. And like The Dude says......OH MY...if we did happen to pull it off...that would be "where were you when....." night.

THE Nebraska Cornhuskers 42 (We kill the clock at the end of the game with dives up the middle rather than scoring the 48th and 49th points) Men in short metal skirts 17 (Do you like gladiator movies Timmy?) Rushing inflicted torture: 266 (two 100 yard rushers in this game for the Red) Pigskin Javelin Chucking: 329 (at least 8 different people get receptions) Yes, yes, yes...that Koolaid is tasting sooooooooo good right now. chuckleshuffle chuckleshuffle chuckleshuffle

As I've said before, I'm a Husker fan to the core..win or lose, I'll always be rooting for the Scarlet and Cream. Obviously I prefer the "win" in that equation, and I've let out my frustrations from time to time this season. Somewhere between Frank S's reign and this year I've come to view every game as an "I hope..." proposition...with the occasional "I doubt..." thrown in. I know the last two wins haven't been the prettiest, but dad gummit, they are wins against pretty good teams. As I was bagging leaves this afternoon I found myself looking forward to next week's game against MSU and realized I was no longer in the "I hope.." or "I doubt.." mode. I am confident we will win that game. What a nice feeling. Wishing now I hadn't given our tickets to my daughter for the PSU game. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!GO BIG RED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
