+10 The odor and stains. I love the smell of natural grass (napalm) in the morning. The smell, you know that real grass smell, the whole hill. Smelled like...........VICTORY! Muddy? Not any more because tricked out drainage plus heat pipes placed underground the turf (like Lambeau Field ). OU played natural grass field for the last 15 years .... no problem slipping and muddy enviornment.

cool pix! You know USPS chiefs wants to close down 236 mail processing plants and I think including Lincoln PO (adjacent to new arena - some people eyesore). If so, can easily tear that building down and put up a parking garage. USPS death wish includes Dallas and Ft. Worth (consolidate North Texas PO), Tulsa (consolidate OKC), Oakland CA (consolidate S.F.), etc. The only hold up, US congress and president.

Pershing is still standing. The Haymarket Arena isn't so much to replace the Devaney as it is to replace Pershing. Both facilities are showing their age, and it's pretty hard to get major events like headlining bands to come to town with Pershing. I don't know if this is to do with facility conditions or politics but Lincoln also lost state wrestling a few years ago to Omaha because of the Century Link Center (former Qwest) there. All in all it's a great thing, this town might get some more excitement in it for the younger crowd other than O street. Last time was KISS concert @ Pershing, late '70s. Oh god, I'm old !

Nice! Good pictures. I used to work at Lincoln post office plant 25 years ago (left side picture). I believe new arena was located across the Amtrac railroad track, right? Question: What's the purpose to replace arena? I thought Bob Deveney Center is (or was?) pretty much good facility. Oh BTW, Pershing Arena is still standing?

That is why recruiting battles are BS........ well most of the time. I noticed Boise State got two 1st round NFL draftees (again) vs. Huskers, vaunted OU and Texass, added tOSU, got ZERO. In the past 10 years, Broncos never received 4 or 5 stars except one player (4-stars).
