  1. What about the stat posted earlier this week though that says that since 2011, we lead the nation in most losses of 17 points or more? What do you do with that? That's a four-season span. **Edit - I accidentally said 'most wins of 17 points...' Fixed.
  2. I think the three biggest problems we have (in order) are: 1. Lack of an actual defensive coordinator to push back on Bo's stubbornness to turn us into a B1G rush defense 2. Offensive line coaching 3. An apparent lack of QB coaching I feel like it's completely obvious those three things are not getting fixed in our current configuration. I'd prefer the Solich Ultimatum. Fire your coordinators, fire Cotton (FOR F***'S SAKE, FIRE COTTON), fire Ganz, and bring in known variables at each. I like Bo as the face of the program, and I think his integrity and values match up pretty well with our program's traditions/the state's values - similar to what QMany said. But no more pissing on a game like Saturday and then claim in the Monday morning presser that it's raining.
  3. Sheriron, please...please come to Lincoln. We'll love you long time. Promise.
  4. Haha, I lol'd. We should be friends in real life, sd'sker. I definitely take stock of how important my little girls are relative to Husker football on days like last Saturday. I've watched the Miami highlight vids multiple times lately to give me some good Husker feels. Barely gets me to normal...
  5. A concise way to sum it up, agreed. If the only variable that greatly improved would be O-line discipline and determination, our results would probably even be fairly dramatically different. I think coaching can and would fix this.
  6. This is a great thread. I can relate to the 'Maybe I'm growing up and my interests are changing...' sentiment. Then I'll say to myself, "This is ingrained in me; it's who I am to be obsessed with Husker football!" But at any rate, your chart of preseason interest is so spot on. Next season is going to be dismal heading into it, even if we win our next three games in stunning fashion.
  7. This has the potential to be the worst OP we've seen in awhile.
  8. Agreed. Sometimes I wonder if it's a function of how much man we're playing, too. Whatever it is, it just keeps happening.
  9. What you did there is called creating a straw man.
  10. As a former, successful defensive coordinator for NU, Pelini knew the fans, traditions, etc. Didn't end up meaning anything at all.
  11. I don't think anybody said that Frost won't work out because Bo didn't. The point is that recent examples in the college football world show that bringing in someone who has meaningful FBS head coaching experience gives a higher rate of success than hiring a coordinator with zero FBS head coaching. There's a huge difference between those two scenarios. Also, I don't think Frost has more of a tie to our program than Bo had in 2007. They both had significant successes previously with us. In my opinion, Frost would be better than a shoe box with a Pikachu sticker on it for a head coach and could probably do better than Callahan, but I wouldn't touch him unless he was the last option. Throw the damn money at a known variable.
  12. If the options are sticking with Bo or taking Tressel, I'd take Tressel in a heartbeat. Wouldn't even have to think about it.
  13. I think the more interesting thing is to speculate on who you'd get rid of if Bo stays (which he will, unfortunately). -I'd get an actual QB coach. -I'd probably get rid of Beck. -I'd can Ross Els, yesterday. -I'd definitely can Papuchis. Or find a kids' table for him somewhere.
  14. If the options are sticking with Bo 'The Human Meltdown' Pelini or going with him, yes. Yes, I am.
  15. Either way, I don't want another "up-and-coming" assistant who's never been under the spotlight before. Get someone that's proven. Throw the huge sacks of money at him.
  16. Frost's resume is no more impressive than Bo's was in 2007. He's never been an FBS head coach. Therefore, he's a gamble. Just like Bo was a gamble. Make the decision Osborne was incapable of - throw a dump truck load of money bags at the guy who's won at least a conference title with an FBS program. I'd take D'Antonio or David Shaw, in that order.
  17. I will say though that he's got to be the best possible option. So the insinuation in the OP of trying Fyfe is just not happening. At all. But that actually makes me feel WORSE about the situation. His zone read game = pretty good. But when a good defense stacks the box, he just doesn't cut it.
  18. Agreed. This is my take on Tommy, and WOW do I feel terrible saying this...but he doesn't have the pedigree to be the starting QB of a team that strives for top 10 football. He's just not good enough. He doesn't match the average level of talent of the rest of our skill position players (like Abdullah, Westerkamp, Bell, etc.). He's in the same league as Cody Green and Martinez in my not-so-humble opinion. Someone will chime in and claim that completion percentage doesn't mean much in the college game...but seriously, he does not have the accuracy. He just doesn't.
  19. I feel like he'd define our power game and would be capable of stopping this never-ending offensive no-man's-land. Both in recruiting a style of QB that's doable for us and in scheme. But that's just hypothesis.
  20. Agree with both of you. I guess my point was that the reason this frustration is reaching a fever pitch is because it's likely we'll get at least one of the next two. If so, we hit the nine win mark, which although is relatively pointless to us all at this point will rationally probably seem to hold a fair bit of sway with Eichorst. Bo has hit his peak, which is really more like a sustained plateau. I personally would take David Shaw. But that's just me.
  21. No, it doesn't. The worst regular season record we can currently wind up with is 8-4. We went 5-7 that year.
