Sucks for Westy. Not only missing the game and going out on a bad note but would have been nice for him to tie the record.

I think #2 is not realistic in the short term. Michigan and Ohio State have been 1-2 for some time and I don't see that changing any time soon. But I think we have to be #3 or #4. Penn State has location advantages but there's really not any reason we should't be challenging them for the #3 spot. Any farther down than #4 and we're putting ourselves in quite the hole right from the start.

The recruiting forum has become really negative, Matty isn't even a total sunshine pumper lately That happens every year about this time. We get done with the season and it probably didn't finish how we wanted so everyone starts looking at recruiting and sees we haven't had a commit for months. Even though we have some really good players considering us, every time someone indicates one of them probably will pick someone else many people get all depressed and start thinking we suck and our coaches suck and we will never be able to compete with anyone better than Purdue. ... and then we get a couple years down the road and people are complaining that we need better talent to compete. So ....

I would guess he's not getting as much credit because two of those guys were already committed to Nebraska before he got here and a foundation had been laid for Farniok. Credit to Cav for getting Wilson and locking up Farniok but he definitely walked into a pretty good situation. I thought that the previous staff was in on Wilson too? Pretty sure not.

He's pretty good at reports like this - what actually has happened - so I'd probably believe him here. It's when he starts trying to read into things and figure out how interested in Nebraska somebody is that he has trouble. It seems to me like he's looking too hard to find reasons why a prospect is liking Nebraska - maybe doing it almost subconsciously - instead of taking a more objective approach. Maybe not realizing that the guys he's talking to know he's a Nebraska guy so they talk up Nebraska a little more to him and he thinks that means they're more interested than they actually are. Always have to remind myself that he's still trying to sell subscriptions. Some of it may be the truth, but more times than not it's to pump sunshine and get their name out. There very well could be some of that. But there's also a difference between "this guy is really interested in Nebraska" and "I really think this guy might commit when he visits next week - he talked up Nebraska more than any other school" followed by that guy committing elsewhere and never visiting.

Rumor is a pretty serious knee injury. Out for the bowl game, shrine bowl and would not be able to participate in the NFL Combine (if invited).

Which is both a good and a bad thing.
