  1. Actually, it's your job to fix those mistakes which is what they do. I expect nothing less from our coaches, fix the mistakes and get it back on course.
  2. Do I even have too read the rest of the updated recruiting profiles too know what you posted? I was thinking the same thing... Just getting a little exciting over the possibility of landing these guys down the final recruiting stretch. These are players to get excited for at this stage in the game.
  3. That's life in recruiting, sometimes things don't work out. Maybe out staff is finally going full SEC and realizing that hey just because a kid plans a visit doesn't mean anything, if you're ready to move on no need to waste anymore of your time or theirs. On to the next one, I wanted Carter over Vandenburg anyway.
  4. I think for me I don't like the penalty, but I like the mentality. You have to go out there and punch that other team in the face and let them know you're there and you're not going anywhere. I think to just sit here and say we should field 11 Rex Burkheads is completely unrealistic. Rex just like Suh was a rare breed, he was even better off the field than he was on, and all the field he was an all-conference RB (when healthy). That just doesn't happen everyday, Rex is a once in a great while talent that had both what some wanted. Some people on here think that we should only recruit upstanding kids and kids that didn't come from where it was rough because we're afraid they'll embarass our program. To me that's just down right ignorant and I can't stand hearing it. Some of those guys could be great kids in a rough situation, look at what Rickey Thenarse did with his life, he got out of Compton, CA (which a lot of people wish they could say) and made it, now he's back coaching his high school football team and mentoring young men. So the more guys with swagger we recruit I'm all for it, if our defense started looking like Alabama's or LSU's (which despite what some people on here believe, are just a bunch of great athletes and not necessarily criminals) to go along with Oregon's offense then nobody in the B1G, even the great Ohio State would be able to stop us.
  5. That comment really had some people upset. In reality though a team does need many different personalities etc. Try to find a MNC team without a few people you wouldn't want to be alone in an alley with. If that is really what it takes, then I will take my 9-10 wins and few/no championships. It's not worth it to me, and as a whole that is the problem with our ass backwards society. Perfect example, this morning ESPN giving Tyron Matthieu an exclusive interview that was essentially a plea on his behalf to NFL teams to save him from being a dumbass, waste of talent drain on society. Why? Why give a loser like that the attention? Why not let the Rex Burkheads of the world have that chance. The glorification of these people send the wrong message. It's not all about winning and losing. When you start to believe that it is, you have developed a serious problem. NU's greatest teams were not full of saints. We had guys that would crack some skulls and kick babies. We need to play with a controlled rage and swag. We need some mean streaks in our OL and DL. I finally saw Martinez get in someone's face and stick up for the team. There should have been a few guys backing him up That's all fine and dandy. It's just not what I believe. The only thing here is that we have a god's plenty of the said "saints" that should more than outweigh the "criminals". Unfortunately, they do not. I dont care. I agree with you on the "controlled rage and swag". What I'm talking about is full blown embarrassments to the program. Guys like Lawrence Phillps and Christian Peter. Guys who always seem to be followed by trouble, self-inflicted or not. If those kinds of guys are absolutely needed to win championships, I want nothing to do with it. The kicker is, I dont believe that is the case. Pretty easy to say this now, what were you saying when they winning this program titles? Bet you were quite ok with it.
  6. A lot of Nebraska fans lately seemed to have become obsessed with high character guys coming into our football program. How important is that really, would people be willing to sacrifice 11 Academic All-Americans for 11 All-Americans, which is more important? Back in the 90's Nebraska wasn't full of the most high charcter individuals (people that know this program know the guys), yet those were our best teams and people weren't calling for as many high character guys back then, they were calling for athletes. Now to be fair the 90's had some great kids on those teams too, one of them has an award named after him at Nebraska for basically being a great human being. My question is essentially is taking high character guys important or having a guys like that on our team, or would you rather go after more athletes that are "projects" so to speak, but would be some top athletes in the country? What say you?
  7. Despite what people think TO was heavily involved in the program, from meetings with Bo about different things to drawing up plays for the offense. TO was very involved in this program, anyone who says differently is selling something.
  8. I respect what Alabama has done because Nick Saban is using the Nebraska model of the 90's to do it (Because he respects what Nebraska did and wanted to do it himself). I've heard from people close to Alabama that when Nick Saban got there his dream team to create was 90's Nebraska. He wanted the biggest, baddest dudes in the country to come play for him and he wanted to be the most physical team in college football. Nick Saban has told many people his Nebraska model. Remember we took it to Saban in 95 when he was at MSU, so he saw up close and personal what 90's Nebraska football looked like.
  9. Has Bill Callahan ruined expectations for this program? Callahan came in and had the worst seasons Nebraska had seen in 40 years at Nebraska, back when TO was running the show expectations were you don't lose more than 3 games. Callahan never did that, he lost way worse, sure Frank started it but got back to only 3 losses and he still won something of substance, the last Husker coach to do so. So my question comes back to: since Callahan had such bad seasons at Nebraska (2 losing seasons) did he ruin what expectations for this program should be? Bo has yet to lose 3 or less games in a season, but since he's not losing at the rate Callahan did are we finding ways to justify it? He's winning 9-10 games a year when Nebraska plays 13-14, is that good enough? What are your expectations for this program in 2013 and going into next season, not with this team, but what should Nebraska fans expect out of their program? I expect to win the conference every 3-4 years, reach a BCS bowl 3-4 times a decade and win multiplpe BCS bowl games (not titles, though that would be nice) a decade. And reach at least one national championship a decade, we've done it every decade since the 60's.
  10. There's no doubt this team needs more speed, and less complicated defense. Bo's trying to get these kids to learn a very complicated system which some NFL guys would struggle with, and the players get so overwhelmed and confused to get into position that they get out of position. You think Nick Saban runs one of the most complicated defensive schemes in the country, no way, when you have the best athletes you don't need to. Obviously Nebraska doesn't have Alabama's athletes (few teams do), but we have some pretty dang good ones (or at least we will next season). Raw talent can win in college football and when you keep things simple for these guys their raw talent will make the same plays a complicated scheme would. We need more athletes no doubt, you've gotta keep pushing south LA, AL, GA, MS, FL. Just because one kid from the south says no doesn't mean they all will. Terry Joseph can't recruit down there all by himself other coaches need to step up and join him down in the ultimate hotbed of recruiting.
  11. You know for all the Husker fans on here questioning whether Georgia is smack talking them or not...2 things. First, you guys are doing a pretty good job of smack talking on their program as well, I haven't seen any Georgia trash talking whatsoever, and Georgia won a BCS Bowl game in 2008, Nebraska hasn't been to one in over a decade. And if we are this great program why haven't they destroyed us in ticket sales, we're the best fans in college football right, win or lose we travel to games, yet we've only sold about 4,000 and Georgia has sold about 10,000? Interesting.... Second, Georgia is way more talented than we are going into this football game and will likely win, they were within 5 yards of going to a National Championship, we weren't within 5 touchdowns of going to the Rose Bowl. We should probably cool it on the Georgia talk because, no pun intended, their the bigger and badder dog in this fight.
  12. The two parties couldn't get along, everyone will take sides in a situation like this. Truth is all of us could agree we wish he was still a Husker. The information about TM's feelings on the situation didn't come out until recently.
  13. His gf played a huge role in him leaving and going back to Florida, but from straight from TM it was Barney. He even said he doesn't understand how Bo can put up with him. He still was clearly upset about how things transpired. And he kept saying stuff like do they even know what it's like to only want one thing and cheer for one team your entire life and not be able to play for the school you grew up loving? Under different circumstances even with the gf he would probably still be here, but because of Barney and essentially Bo it was dang near impossible for him to stay.
  14. I ain't got time to be selling beer at Husker BB games! Oh come one, what's a few nights a week? You get tips!
  15. How would Husker fans feel about selling beer at basketball games?
  16. Jamal is a stud plain and simple, should be touching the ball 5-10 times a game.
