  1. I went to the game today, they did show good fight, but it was clear from the first inning who the better team was. Every time Cal got a hit, it was a BLAST. Most of our hits were nubbers. Maybe we need to be the scrappy team in order to win, but I think today's comeback was the best chance we had for getting a win this weekend. We could very easily get swept.
  2. Illinois has called a noon press conference to "discuss the future of the men's basketball program." Bruce Weber is getting canned. Holy crap, we're actually going to keep Doc.
  3. I'd love to get excited about ANY men's Nebraska sport. Man, this is about as dark a time for Nebraska athletics as I've ever lived through. Football is mediocre, Basketball is god awful, baseball has been god awful, I'd love for one of these sports to turn the corner.
  4. Oh, I didn't see that. In the article I read in the World Herald, it made it sound as though Doc didn't intend or didn't know he was meeting with Tom today.
  5. If you're Tom, why do you allow him to do that if you're going to fire him? It can't really be a thing where Tom hasn't made a decision yet. This makes me VERY nervous.
  6. And you think Bo is qualified to give that talk? Now we're on the right track. Someday you're going to come up with a more creative way to try and insult me than a play on my user name that a 3rd grader would come up with, and then your mommy will finally be proud of you.
  7. Why did the AD grant Doc an extension last year? I know I'm in the minority here, but it makes no sense to waste millions of dollars on the buyout. Who are they going to replace him with? Is Bob Knight coming out of retirement? Is Calipari looking to resurrect our program? If not, why waste the money? NU sucks at basketball, NU has almost always sucked at basketball, so I see no reason to fire the coach a year after his contract was extended. Just let him ride it out and then don't rehire him. That approach is quite frankly, idiotic. Unless you want to announce to the fans that the University doesn't care about winning and then ride it out as attendance sinks to 300 a game.
  8. If he gets fired, it will be an afternoon press conference, so don't get too excited to wake up to that.
  9. Tom has to know he's going to infuriate a large portion of the fanbase if Doc isn't fired. Hell, Shatel and Barfknecht are already talking about "how to carry out the coaching search." If Doc is retained, Tom is going to be facing some real backlash for the first time in decades.
  10. So, just as a reminder (for the athletic Department) Nebraska is 7-27 in February and March the last three seasons. We've posted losing overall records in two of the last three years and haven't gotten as far as the 2ND round of the NIT since the 2007-2008 season. There is simply no way a remotely competent athletic director allows Doc Sadler to remain employed.
  11. And you think Bo is qualified to give that talk?
  12. You really expect us to sweep them? You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but you're going to be disappointed.
  13. Honestly, I'll be pleased if we split. I'll be ecstatic if we take 3
  14. Was said on ESPN today that Shaka was lead candidate for Illinois job. Then let's go after... Jimmy Pastos of Loyala Maryland Patsos served as an assistant coach to Gary Williams at the University of Maryland for 13 years. Patsos took over at Loyola after they suffered a 1-27 season under former coach Scott Hicks. Patsos was the 20th head coach of Loyola men's basketball. In his first season as coach in 2004, he guided them to a 6-22 record. In his second season, they reached 15-13, the first time they had a winning record since the 1993-94 season, the year they reached the NCAA Tournament under Skip Prosser. On Dec. 22, 2009 a Patsos led Loyola team recorded the greatest regular season win in program history defeating the Indiana Hoosiers 72-67. The Hounds led by as many as 22, before the Hoosiers rallied to take a late lead. Senior Guard Brett Harvey led the Hounds back scoring 9 points in the final 3 minutes.[2] He has guided the Greyhounds to multiple 3rd place MAAC finishes, finishing with 18 wins in 2006-07 and a tied a school record with 19 wins in 2007-08. Patsos has sought local talent in his coaching staff. Former players from Maryland, Terrell Stokes and Matt Kovarik are former assistants at Loyola.[3] On his staff, Patsos currently has G.G. Smith, son of Minnesota Coach Tubby Smith, former Greyhound Greg Manning, and Luke D'Alessio, former head coach at Division II school, Bowie State.[4] Patsos received a contract extension from Loyola on July 9, 2008. Per Loyola policies, details of the contract were not released.[5] On November 25, 2008, Patsos and the Greyhounds double-teamed Davidson All-American Stephen Curry for the entire game, leaving his other three players to face the 24th ranked Wildcats in a four on three game. Davidson won by 30, while Curry stood in the corner during most possessions. Commenting afterwords, Patsos said: "We had to play against an NBA player tonight. Anybody else ever hold him scoreless? I'm a history major. They're going to remember that we held him scoreless or we lost by 30? I know the fans are mad at me, but I had to roll the dice as far as a coach goes. I'm not some rookie coach," said Patsos, a former longtime assistant at Maryland. "I won a national title as a top assistant coach to Gary Williams. For 13 years I spent on Tobacco Road. I coached a couple of No. 1 picks in the draft. And we scored 48 points. That's the problem that Loyola basketball had today." (implying that his team's offense cost them the game, not their defense).[6] That last quote about Curry makes me think the dude is kind of an idiot. I'd notice the 30 point loss more than whether or not Curry scored a point. Maybe I'm just more of a "team results" type of guy.
  15. It's been years and I don't remember how it went, but there was talk on campus that Crum put out feelers and was interested but our administration decided against it. I think there was concerns about if he ran a clean program or not????....I can't really say I guess. I don't remember for sure. So basically you're saying our athletic department has ALWAYS been monumentally inept when it comes to anything outside of football? How sad.
  16. Whoa, we certainly broke this one open, last I saw we were up 4-2
  17. Or, maybe the guy who said that was like me. I didn't know softball was only seven innings (because I don't follow softball at all) we put what sport it is. Do we really need to do detective work in order to figure out what sport we're talking about
  18. Boy, if this comes true, then I need to just stop following Nebraska sports. This would underline Osborne's inability to put what's right for the program above his personal affections. He would be hamstringing yet another of our sports.
  19. It's supposed to be the nicest day of the year by far. I wish I COULD sneak out and see the game
  20. I'm looking for 12-5, 11-6 is about as bad as we can go and hope to actually make some noise this season.
  21. New Mexico State is a mediocre baseball team however you want to slice it. It was a nice win, but let's stop short of calling it "huge"
  22. Not great that we had to come back against an incredibly mediocre team like New Mexico State, but it's become pretty obvious that we are in fact, a pretty mediocre team. That still might be enough to win the Big Ten. New Mexico State scored 4 in the top of the 2nd and lead 4-2 heading into the 9th inning. Sanguinetti hit a two run walk off home run to win it. Keller had an awful start, allowing 4 hits, 2 walks and four runs in 1.1 innings but the pen allowed three hits and three walks the rest of the way.
