  1. Welcome Coach Riley. I hope you take a page out of the BobFather and Dr. Tom's playbook and start to recruit In-State more. Calvin Strog and Johnson would be a good start.
  2. Thank you. I tried to find the 2014 spring game date on husker.com for some time and could not ever find it. Where did you find it / page ?
  3. Positive- We can score points without having a pysical offensive line. It is about time we face the fact that we are not going to see SmashMouth football this year. Lets all get over it and embrace these kids. We wanted an identity and we now have it. We are a quick strike offense. "Oregon with some power" when Rex is in there". Our linemen need to only get in the way now. As much as I want to see them get a five yard push every play, things have changed. Maybe we need to understand this offensive system before we bash the line. Lets go Barneys Boys.. We need you. Rose bowl here we come for the rematch.
  4. I seen many of this years O-lineman right after the rained out spring game. Lets just hope these kids were not in game shape back then. I remember those championship year lineman being chiseled and solid muscle. I did not see that in the spring. But I am sure they have been working hard. Maybe those walk-ons pushed the others to the weight room. We need our identity back. Lets get behind Barney and the Boys. It's Time. Rose Bowl here we come.
  5. Congratulations to Nate Meier of nearby Fremont Mills Iowa on becoming an Iowa Hawkeye. I had hoped to see him come out of the tunnel at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln and it looks like I will get my wish, only he will be on the wrong side. It will be fun watching his football career. I hope the Hawkeyes win ever game each year he plays, except the day after Thanksgiving against Nebraska. It looks like he will get a good look at runningback/fullback. I felt Nate Meier and also Drew Ott could have helped the Huskers get their identity back. I guess we will see first hand what those two bring to the Hawkeyes. Good luck to both of them.
  6. No. Meier has done all his talking on the football field by leading his team to the state championship and setting records along the way. There is not much more he could do to prove that he may have been the top player in the whole state of Iowa in the 2011 season. I consider him a local kid (lives 35 miles from Omaha, 60 from Lincoln) and a player the fans would love to get behind. I am a long time Husker fan that hopes to see him wearing the "N" on his helmet some day.
  7. You can not judge by the video. You have to see him play in person. You would be a believer. And I know we have very talented walk-ons, but I think Nate could be a guy that challenges those 4-star/5-star guys at a running back position. He is what we are missing on short yardage situations..He would fill that role. I hope we get to see.
  8. The Huskers need to sign Nate Meier. This kid can flat out play. I had to go watch him play in person because I had to make my own decision. I have watched many Nebraska Class A games over the years and Nate reminds me of former Husker Judd Davies of Millard North. He was a man amoung boys on the High School football field. Another former Husker player he reminds me of is Chad Kelsay of Auburn Nebraska , a player that Dominated in high school. You could not go wrong with him on your team. He is also the type that would push his teammates to excell. He is a hard worker in the weight room (benches 385), and will open some eyes. He would be a huge crowd favorite. He is the Husker image, the poster boy for a hard nosed smash mouth team. And he is right in our backyard. The more I watched him play, the more I want him to stay at running back. He would be that third down/red zone running back we need so bad. Even at fullback he could get the job done as he takes pride in blocking and has good hands. Some think of him as a DE, but if he plays defense, I see him more comfortable as a down lineman. I tell you he just explodes off the ball . D-line is another huge need for the Huskers. I hope all the coaches at Nebraska know about Nate Meier.
