  1. Watson had one good game as an OC. Even a broken clock does better.
  2. Because obviously Barney coaches the players to not remember the snap count and hold.
  3. This notion doesn't make any sense. Because we had some good rushing games, Barney is getting it done on his end? For goodness' sake, Cosgrove kept the occasional opponent under 14 points. That doesn't mean he was a good coach. What doesn't make any sense is the irrational "barney sucks" ranting that invariably always follows any thing pertaining to the OL. Nebraska certainly needs more consistentcy along the OL no doubt. But there's no magic wand or bullet. It takes time to build OL depth. And Nebraska had nearly 3,000 yards rushing last season so somebody is doing at least one or two things right in terms of coaching the OL. I think there are plenty of legitimate criticisms to talk about regarding Barney, Bo and all the other coaches. But this constant drumbeat of negativity has long went past ridiculous.
  4. Not all all. Reread the post. Maybe then it'll occur to you that Barney and the OL aren't nearly as bad as some of the more ridiculous posters are claiming. By all means though, hate away if it makes the voices in your head stop.
  5. No question there are two sides. But the Barney haters only see one side, theirs.
  6. Poor OL play? Like in the win against Washington in 2010? Nebraska rolled up 533 yards of total offense, including 383 on the ground. The Husker trio of Taylor Martinez (137 yards, 3 TD, 19 carries), Roy Helu Jr. (110 yards, 2 TD, 10 carries) and Rex Burkhead (104 yards, TD, 13 carries) combined for Nebraska's fourth triple-100-yard game in school history, and the first since the Baylor game in 2001. http://www.huskers.c...TCLID=204996759 How about the thrashing we gave Kansas State? The Huskers racked up 347 rushing yards on 28 carries (12.8 ypc) while Martinez completed 5-of-6 passes for 128 yards (21.3 ypr) through the first 45 minutes. http://www.huskers.c...TCLID=205008409 Or Maybe Barney's "incompetence" was revealed when Roy Helu ran for 300+ yards against Missouri? Nebraska finished the day with 328 rushing yards and 126 passing to finish with 454 yards of total offense. http://www.huskers.c...TCLID=205021455 What about our game with Oklahoma State? Nebraska amassed 542 total yards, including a career-high and NU freshman record 435 total offense yards from quarterback Taylor Martinez that included career bests of 323 passing yards and five passing touchdowns. http://www.huskers.c...TCLID=205017172 Or how about 2011, again against Washington? Rex Burkhead scored on a pair of one-yard runs on back-to-back plays from scrimmage in a nine-second span in the third quarter and notched his fifth 100-yard rushing game of his career. The junior from Plano, Texas finished with 120 yards on a career-high 22 carries to lead an NU rushing attack that amassed a season-high 309 yards on the ground. The Huskers finished with 464 yards of total offense. http://www.huskers.c...TCLID=205272802 Wait, maybe it was the game against Ohio State. Nebraska finished the game with 423 yards of total offense, including 232 rushing yards and 191 passing. http://www.huskers.c...TCLID=205313278 Or how about 2011's nearly 3,000 yards rushing as a team? http://www.huskers.c...0&DB_OEM_ID=100 Those are all facts. Now if you want to say there are some inconsistencies and things that our OL could do better, then that's fine. But any objective measure and analysis reveals that Barney Cotton is doing a good job. And with a little more consistency could do a great or excellent job. Further, I'd like you to consider that it takes time to build depth, especially along the OL. We've been recruiting some some great OL the past three classes and will continue to recruit kids with great potential. But it takes time to develop an OL. Remember, the '12 season will be Bo's, and Barney's, 1st senior class. Barney Cotton is not perfect, nor is he faultless. But this immense hatred that you and other have displayed towards him in this thread is beyond idiotic because you're essentially blaming Cotton for Tyler Moore's quitting. In point of fact all we know for certain is that Tyler has some personal issues to work through and can rejoin the team at any time. In closing, Nebraska's OL has shown tremendous flashes of dominance in multiple games over the course of the past two seasons. To completely ignore those facts and just herp derp the same old tired boilerplate, "Barney Cotton sucks" without any real analysis makes your posts essentially worthless.
  7. Not me. That sorry POS needs to be canned yesterday and Moore needs to grow a set And yet another reasonable, rational, and compelling diatribe from the herp derp fire Barney crowd. I'm probably going to regret this, but why exactly should Barney be fired?
  8. When I take a defensive lineman and try to rush the passer I literally get tackled by the OL every time and there's never a holding call. But when I'm on offense I get called for holding...lol. And the false starts, oh lordy the false starts, I get called at least 10 times in every game.
  9. I am glad to hear that the door is open for Tyler to return. I'm guessing those that were flying off the deep end, screaming that Cotton should be fired because of this, are feeling pretty f'ing stupid right about now.
  10. Well here in Boise at the local Papa Johns apparently they have poon as a topping for pizza or you can order it as a side dish.
  11. Personally, I find the recruiting process in dynasty mode on this game incredibly tedious and boring. What I do, is on my recruiting board I target first the players I need to fill the holes on my roster. Then I target other players to maintain depth at all the other positions. I then simulate through the system the entire recruiting process. The result? One #2 ranked class and the other was the #3 ranked class. It simply doesn't pay to "drill down" into the depths of recruiting this game allows you to. And I've completely avoided scouting any of these players because every time I scout them they always are crappy. So I simply let the computer do what it does and I haven't had a single issue. This is overall a fun game, but the defense is a complete mystery. In my second dynasty season I was at home against Michigan St and the final score ended up being 56 to 49. I won the game but the Spartans literally had like 600 yards of offense. It didn't matter what I did on defense. If I play base either man or zone they ran the ball for at least 7 yards a pop. When I blitzed they torched me on long TD passes. If I played zone they picked me apart. There were no audibles to call, no substitution packages to run, no timeouts to be employed that could help my defense in that game. On one snap I blitzed the nickel CB, he came in totally unblocked, and hit the MSU QB full force and started to wrap up on the tackle. You'd think that was a sack right? Not even close. The MSU QB literally pushed my guy to the ground and fired a TD pass 49 yards down the field to a WR who was double covered.
  12. Had to +1 this. Ben Cotton has been a very good player to this point. I expect no less from Jake and Sam.
  13. Lots of speculation and not enough information.
  14. Yes and so was Daredevil and it was awful.
  15. 1. The Dark Knight. 2. The Lord of the Rings. 3. Terminator (Ranking those films in terms of preference: 2, 4, 1, 3). 4. Pirates of the Carribbean (Although it's actually four films). 5. The Matrix. 6. Indiana Jones. 7. Star Wars (Episodes 4-6).
  16. So what this boils down to is you're playing the updated roster version of NCAA Football 2012, with increased injury percentages and more false start penalties. I don't know. I never played NCAA '12. I just recently, a couple of days prior to my birthday, bought a PS3 and NCAA '13 was the first, and indeed still is, the only game I currently own.
  17. I +1'd ya. That's because he ran with a high pad level and would routinely over-extend past his center of gravity.
  18. Well Peat isn't gone yet and I wouldn't really worry about it until it is confirmed that he is gone. And really, I don't care if a kid was a 5 rated, and ranked #1 at his position or even was the overall #1 player, if he's lazy and has no work ethic he needs to be shown the door.
  19. Every game is big. And for the record: Tyler Moore, Jamal Turner, Quincy Enunwa, Ciante Evans and Ryne Reeves were all true freshman who started at least one game and/or played significant snaps in their true freshman season. Other true freshman that played recently but didn't start: Aaron Green (transferred), Braylon Heard and Andrew Rodriguez.
  20. Because this is Nebraska and we can create threads of 15+ pages about uniform changes and trainers getting fired! To your question specifically, yes Pelini is the guy we need. It never ceases to amaze me at how a certain segment of our fans view "9 wins" as though it is some immense failure. And to NUpolo8's point: Certain Nebraska fans are the epitome of entitlement babies.
  21. why run it as base? If you ran it as base it wouldn't be as successful as it is. Opposing defenses would spend more time during the week to defend it. Come on. Lets put the diamond thing to rest. Its good for a different look here and there maybe 5-7 times a game. The thing that makes option football successful is having ALOT of formations and fewer plays. Obviously our offense is mostly based on option football. Then again, that's just me though Why run it as a base? Well, heaven forbid we would ever develop an identity for our offense. Marginal at everything, excellent at nothing......gotta love being "multiple"! Multiple means being able to run a play 5 or 6 different ways regardless of formation or personnel.
  22. Yes we still use it because it works and we can do a lot of different things out of it.
