  1. Thanks for looking into the future..............now leave. Thank You Yeah, they'll stop doing stuff that works every time! Just watch! :-)
  2. me too I do as well, then noticed the yardage numbers, wondered if he had almost gotten sacked and did it again. Hhhahah we were cheering and laughing "Same play! Hey! It ended the same way too!" :-( Punts suck
  3. Damn it! I was all set to hate USC and now you have a good reason for me to want them to win (that is, they beat us). Crap!
  4. You're right Addison, it isn't really that important. The system is screwy, that's for sure. I'm surprised that the networks don't push for a playoff. Let's say the winner of Boise and NU goes on to play the winner of the later match up between teams X and Y. Fans of X and Y are going to tune in to watch NU play Boise to see what they're going to be up against. Well, I would, anyway! They need a playoff for the conference champs at the very least (and some wild cards, maybe). The rest of the 985 other bowl games can still go on, but they'll draw their normal level of interest. There is time for 3 or 4 more games between the end of the regular season and when the spring semester starts... start playing in the summer! Something. It's not that tricky.
  5. Damn it! I was gonna say that--- GLad I read the thread first
  6. This is why I like the NU-OU rivalry. There has been almost perpetual respect from both sides. CU, OTOH, bleh. Smack from fans, coaches, and players. Is there something in the water? I was thinking about that 0-5 comment that hte coach made... why in the hell did that even come up when they were 0-5?
  7. I'm not aware of that rule, can you tell me where in the NCAA rulebook that is? You can't read it yourself? I'm not going to waste my time on a rule that may not exist. If I made such a statement, I would back it up with some support. Even the annoucers said that the refs blew it on that one. Maybe this will shut you up: Rule 10 under penelty enforcement states continous contact with the opposing helmet is a 15 yard penalty. It took me all of 5 minutes to google up the info to make you look like an :asshat Now move over nancy Maybe you could highlight it for me because in the 2006 NCAA football rulebook: http://www.ncaa.org/library/rules/2006/200...tball_rules.pdf I did not see it where you claim it to be. BTW, you don't have to be a jerk about it. Thanks Jesus christ, dude. use the search function and search the PDF LOSS OF 15 YARDS Marking ball ..........................................................................................27 1 3 3 28 Numbers changed ...............................................................................27 1 4 2 30 Illegal signal devices [also disqualification] ....................................27 1 4 8 36 Team not ready to play at start of either half ..................................21 3 4 1 70 Simulated substitutions ............................................................... 22, 27 3 5 2 72 Interference with opportunity to catch a kick ..................................33 6 4 1 86 Illegal block by fair-catch signaller ...................................................40 6 5 4 87 Tackling or blocking fair-catcher .......................................................38 6 5 5 87 Offensive pass interference ...............................................................33 7 3 8 97 Defensive pass interference [first down] .........................................33 7 3 8 97 Continuous contact to opponent’s helmet [first down] .................38 9 1 2 107
  8. Was that athe same guy?! Priceless! We rewound that 3 times... that was some funny, funny stuff.
  9. After watching TX melt down, I'd much rather see NU play them!
  10. NO kidding! I didn't know that a procedural penalty would offset a personal foul... stupid.
  11. It doesn't matter if we lose; why risk purify? ZT was about murdered... no way that I want to see anything set up to anyone if it will be dangerous and against these cheap bastages it will be.
  12. What, really?? He was outside of the pocket! Are you sure? I just heard that he was in front of the line... it was illegal forward pass. Still should have been an illegal hit.
  13. Okay, the ref called the penalty immediately (we rewound and watched just to make sure) and it was still 1st and 20 on the next play. We wonder, WTF>
  14. I've said in another thread that there is a good chance that it will be very close for the same reasons that they bring up here. There is no reason to worry about winning from very calculating point of view. Don't get players hurt, don't risk anything on huge, dangerous plays becasue if we lose, we're still the north champions. I think that we've seen this kind of mentality from BC before and I think there is a good chance of seeing it again on friday. This isn't "Looking past" or having "Heads in KC" at all... it's just being smart about using and possibly damaging players. Then again, he might want to say "SEe? I am a husker!" and drop some big plates on CU. However, I just don't see him risking players and going big. I see a very simple, safe plan coming into play. Of course, NU could smack the bejesus out of CU with a simple safe plan! I mean, come on, CU is terrible this year. The huskers could come out and line up backwards and they'd still probably do pretty well against this buffs team.
  15. Classic illustration of trading TDs for FGs. Imagine how bad they'd be if they didn't have an "all world" kicker. So does the kicker average 5.5 FG per game? Hey! This reminds me of that old disney movie where the horse (or jackass?) kicks fieldgoals and saves the team...
  16. Well, I think that striving to not be as bad as CU students at a football game might be a pretty low bar I'm not saying "We're just as bad" or anything like that! I'm just saying that 'sker fans aren't all peachy nice friendly folks either. Yeah, nothing is the "Sal" range is likely to EVER happen again (not any time soon, anyway), that was just downright evil. However, during the KU game there sure were a lot of people doing the wave while that player was hurt. Hey, I was there. I get it. It wasn't a "yay he's hurt" wave... it was a "this is taking 20 minutes, let's do SOMETHING to stay awake" wave. People applauded very nicely when he got up. However, there were people who weren't there who heard about it (people in lincoln) who were disgusted that it even happened. I had to explain the atomosphere, that when there is no action for so long people get restless and, well, do stuff. Be that as it may, it daoesn't take much to start looking like a bunch of jerks. It really doesn't even take that much spin to turn that into negative press. But one thing that can almost certainly start you down the road to bad fandom is believing that we (NU fans) are per se "good fans." Hey, we weren't doing that wave because we're bad, we're doing ti because we're bored. The point is that it doesn't make a difference, it was inappropriate and inconsiderate. We weren't out to actively hurt anybody, we just didn't care or think about it; why would we? We're the most polite people in the world. Striving to be better than the worst isn't really aiming for much. Hey, there are times when I think you're SUPPOSED to boo and jeer. It's what the game's about. It's a show, it's a melodrama. The villian comes out and jumps on your logo in the middle of the field-- let 'em have it. That's WHY they're doing it. IT would amost be rude to no boo. When that texas jackass came out in... err... oh god... that game that ended with the INT in the endzone... that guy planted the UT flag on our N... he did that to get us to Boo... let him have it.. all of it... full on. But come on, a dude is hurt... the wave? As the saying goes, it's all fun and games until someone gets hurt. That's when it becomes personal... maybe the end of his career... not cool. "But Owen," I hear you cry, "That's not as bad as throwing ice at old ladies, is it? IS IT!?" No, but, again, kidnapping a bus full of special ed kids, driving them out into the middle of nowhere, spray painting their faces orange, and then letting them find their way back to town isn't as bad as shooting up a kindergarten, either... but the former example doesn't make you a good person Okay... I know, I expect too much from people. There are ALWAYS going to be the few who have to mock a dead player, cut in line around handicapped people, or just inconsiderately do the wave while a player is down. That's just the nature of the game. And I'm really proud that we have a very small number of people who do that sort of thing. (GBR) I just dream of 100% that would drive bad opposing fans NUTS if they couldn't get a rise out of anyone at all... Heh... Oh my... I just spent way too much time writing that.
  17. Let's not forget "Sal is dead, go big red." Not all buff fans are jackasses, not all husker fans are classy (or even polite to our own staff or ADAs). I'm sure that everyone on this board is great to the opposing fans, but let's not take high-horsed "our fans roxxorz, their fanz are teh sux" stance here. Being a good person, a good fan, and a good sport is kind of marred when people pat themselves on the back and lord themselves over others because of it.
  18. Yeah, people have been using that hilarious line since '96. Cuz... you know... "Glen" sort of sounds like "ben" and "Dower" sounds kind of like "dover" if you have a cartoonish Austrian accent. It's an easy mistake to make just like Fletch did. Although when Fletch said it, it's because someone wanted to anally violate him. Oh! I get it! hahaha! See? Wow, all this time and I never got it.
  19. no you won't....you'll wear red...or a hundred of us will beat you down! SEA OF RED not sea of black What the hell is black? Hasn't that died down yet? Even the Blackshirts don't wear black on game days. They still wear the team colors. Let the team decide what the fans should wear. In fact, there has been a post just a few days ago of an e-mail someone got from the captains saying "Wear RED!" Friggin' wear red!!!! You wear black this week and you'll be supporting Colorado. Oh, I thought we were speaking more broadly I'm not wearing black THIS week (because I wouldn't "want") nor did I wear black to the MU game. You seemed to think that I didn't qualify my statement. I'll wear green, blue, or aqua if I want. I'll wear a pink shirt with heart-shaped holes cut out around my nipples and a big ol' rainbow and unicorn iron on across the back if I want... If course, I wouldn't want to wear those things.
  20. That's the longest list of 5 I've ever seen
  21. no, mainly because I don't like his comedy. I just don't sit well with the white trash humor...but that's just me. the "Git R done" phrase annoys me. is the real reason you dont like his humor because it hits way to close to home for you? then i guess you denounce the expansion project at Memorial Stadium, right? like it was said before i am sure that he put up some cash towards it along with the skybox that he owns. Yes, I hate the new expansion. I wish that fewer people could see the games live. In fact, I had hoped that they would cut the top third of the stadium off and lower the capacity to around 50 thousand. Unfortunately, Larry the Cable Guy *may have* paid for some portion of the expansion smashing my dreams forever; then again, maybe he didn't. Are you sure because you know or because you feel it in your heart? Even if you're right, that wouldn't make him funny.
