  1. And another thing, it's not like we have a TTU basketball problem here. We are talking about 4 players out of over 100. Start worrying when the offense or defense has a closed door meeting with Osborne. And one last thing on my soap box. People bitching about every move that is made hurts the public perception of this program just as much as a couple of quitters walking off the team. If you don't think that these kids read these posts and sees how mean and vindictive people can be when discussing things, you are mistaken. Let's worry about recruiting and coaching when Bo starts to lose more games than he wins.
  2. This may be true, but if so, why was he ever the starter to begin with It's stuff like that that makes me wonder. Just seems to be more to it than guys being lazy or not wanting competition. Competition for playing time exists at very school, not just NU. Shut up. I would just say that probably the reason for him starting was that Thad Randle was fighting an injury and the other option was a freshman. Bo probably went with what he thought was the lesser of two evils at the time. The UCLA game showed him that Williams is a better player and has since made the switch. That's what a good coach does. We had a coach a few years ago that started a transfer QB when he had a damn good one riding the pine and only gave him a shot due to injury. That is a sign of ego before team. Bo is showing that his initial assessments of the defense were not right and now he is making a plan to fix it. This should not be difficult to understand.
  3. He was listed as OR for starting tackle with Thad Randle. Maybe he got beat out for the starting role now that Thad is healthy. This of course in addition to possibly moving to a 3-4, there probably was not a place for him at the table. Also! He is a sophomore. It's not like he was a 5th or 6th year senior. Its not uncommon for freshmen to be as good or better than a sophomore. We did start a redshirt freshman at QB over our returning senior and he didn't quit the team. It's part of growing up. Be good at your job or someone else will.
  4. I'm sure he could get a ride still to an fcs team, or even some lower level fbs, but I wouldn't rule out the possibility that he walks on here or another good program if he convinced them he can pull it together. I'd guess pops can afford it. Either way, it's a shame to see talent wasted. You are assuming that Bo would take someone like him as a walk on. It sounds like there would be a lot of work put into keeping him on the straight and narrow. I am afraid the return on investment would not be there. There are A LOT better DB's that we are targeting with less baggage. I say move on, it wasn't meant to be.
  5. You know, we did that. We opened the pocketbook far and wide-we hired Bill Callahan. NFL coach-won a super bowl. Well, you know the rest. It's always interesting to me that right after we lose a 'game we shouldn't have lost' (I'm still not convinced we 'shouldn't have lost' that game. UCLA may go on to win the Pac-10. If they do we won't feel so badly about this lost) people start talking about a coaching change. It happens every single time! AND THEN these same people (not saying that you are one of those people in particular) get all bent out of shape when other really good teams have Bo on their list as Head Coach material!! So, while I respect your opinion, FLU, I disagree with it. Flu: Give me 5 names that you think would come here next year and be better than Bo. Also, how far do you open the checkbook? Bo is at 3M/year. How much furhter past that do you go? Also, what happens if that does not pan out? Do we go further into the wallet and look for someone else? It took Osborne 23 seasons to win a NC and he had ALOT of losses he wished he could have back. Give this time. They are still winning the vast majority of their games and until that stops this shold not even be a conversation. Once again, who said anything about next year? For argument sake, pick some names for next year.
  6. ESPN is showing on their recruiting page that Lacy just committed to UCLA 14 minutes ago.

  8. Bo isn't a bad coach, he's just stubborn, and he wants to build a legacy by allowing all these youngs guys to learn from him and giving them "their shot." One day it'll click for him as a head coach and he'll keep things going in the right direction without all these ups-and-downs. He missed the boat in Stoops, but it sounds like that wasn't only his fault. My point exactly. There is no one better to get to coach this team.
  9. If everyone thinks that Bo is such a bad coach and recruiter, give me 5 coaches/coordinators that would be available at the end of this season that you could replace him with and really feel that in 2 years we would be competing for a National Championship. I couldn't think of 3.
  10. His teammate Deon. He surely breaks a lot of tackles Probably not going to happen now. Johnson was just arrested on rape charges. Info is from 247 twitter feed.
  11. Being reported on other sites that he was just arrested on 2nd degree rape charges. Although it is innocence until proven guilty, I think it should be safe to assume that the Huskers probably will not be interested in having Jonathan Cook convince him to commit.
  12. With all the hoopla here, do you think Stanton stays commited? I think Stanton would redshirt and be a star when he is the starter, the way it should be, not come in and be a four year starter. It allows him the time to be ready to be a backup and then the starter, just like in the old days (like in the 90's when kids played as juniors and seniors not freshmen and sometimes sophomores). Name me a major program that does not have a couple of good quarterbacks in the stable and still recruit one every year? Ohio State has a sophomore as a starter and they were able to pull Barrett. When he shows up on campus next year, he will be staring at a 2 year starter with 2 years to go. This is how it is. No team will ever build depth if they a reliant on starting a true freshman every year. Find one school that has been successful doing that.
  13. My first game was when we got killed by UCLA 41-28 in Pasadena. I was really young but I remember the Bruin fans being terrible people. I think Aikman was the QB and we got shredded. First game in Lincoln was the following year against K- State. W won 38-31.
  14. How is the recruitment of Kenny Lacy going now?
  15. In case anyone has been keeping score, we are officially "over" 300 on the number of posts to this thread before anything said from the coaches.
  16. Not buying the media portion of your statement. Bo doesn't control the media. Some journalist has to have had some knowledge of this by now. They could have posted something about getting more info or anything. But it has been complete silence. Something isn't right.
  17. Also, Moore started at tackle last year because he was better than anyone else last year. So he comes to practice this year and someone has put in work and out performed to get the nod. I will defer to the coaches to see that on the field and put the right people in place. Say what you will about Cotton but his job would be more on the line if he was not putting the best guys at the top of the chart. If he saw something better in someone else for a starter, who are we to argue? How many of us have dissected practice and film so far this summer?
  18. I would like to bring up one more observation. Everyone talks about Pelinimand his good practice earns playing time. Is this not the case of the U$C, OSU, Alabamas of CFB? They consistently bring in more talent than us every year, allegedly. That means EVERY recruit feels a sense of entitlement. If this were the case, they would have a harder time recruiting and even fielding a 2 deep roster. There is nt one college player at a major program that is skating by. If someone feels that they deserve something just because of where they are playing, they have the wrong mental makeup no matter who they are playing for. I highly doubt that practicing for Stoops, Saban, Meyers is any less challenging than at NU. Not buying it. Some of these programs have five stars backing up five stars and they have no problem fielding a full team. But at NU it is supposed to be different?
  19. The Facebook quote is your confirmation or do you have something more? Seems weird that his girlfriend, overly emotional or not, might wait until he at least gets his pads turned in before posting things like this. Suff like this does not happen until days or weeks after the dust has settled. Also, If Moore did not even give Pelini a chance to talk to him and work things out before bolting to Florida, then he had his mind made up long ago.
  20. How about his fiance's facebook page? Link? Also, still not a major media outlet. I have to believe with as much attention that this has received that some main media reporter would have made some calls or posted something and at least got a "no comment" from someone from his family or a coach or something. The facebook post seems odd to me.
  21. Why is there not one main media outlet saying anything about this? Seems weird. Not saying that nothing happened but I have to believe that LJS, or OWH would have made mention of this by now. They report what was for breakfast on the training table this time of year. Until I hear it from the kid or Bo, I am going to say that this will blow over.
  22. I just saw where Lavonte David had 2 tackle, a TFL, PBU and an interception in his first NFL game last night. Not a bad start even though it was preseason. former Husker Larry Asante threw in 6 tackles As well
  23. This is the most Pelini has ever had before the season starts. With it being such a big class, up to 28, it makes sense we are taking alot of kids right now. I get what you are saying about the class size, but the kid still needs to make a commitment. When was the last time we had this many kids give a verbal this yearly? Never? I am impressed with the coaches going out and trying to get the players earlier. Big class or small, get them on board early and stick with them
