  1. for as much as we talked about the trenches the last few years - i'm scared to see what it's going to look like next year. we whiffed recruiting the DL, and we whiffed recruiting the OL. but we have receivers and RBs everywhere. can we make some offseason trades? Amen
  2. Well, firstly, I'd say Beck is our top recruiter. Secondly, if Marrow has only a recent, temporary waiver for recruiting for Cotton's surgery, how does he suddenly become one of our top recruiters? Beck needs to get back to recruiting balls to the walls as he is a great recruiter! Seems like since he became OC it has slowly taken a backseat. Hopefully we can find a solution for this. This is Marrows 2nd year on the road recruiting for us. He has more connections in Ohio than we know what to do with. I was really hoping we would keep this guy on staff. I am still under the impression a full time spot will be available on the staff this offseason yeah, this staff full of Bo's ohio buddies that everyone's always bitching about, sh#t, I just dont know how we're gonna keep those Ohio connections. Marrow has ample coaching experience. He was over qualified to be a GA and we were lucky to have him. When people including myself mention hiring his buddies it is more or less in regards to experience for the position etc. was Els the best available LB coach for us? Was Pap the best DC available for us? I will give Bo credit recently as he has started to stray away from that mentality. I feel both Kaz and Joseph were solid hires. I hope he continues this.
  3. More was born a Husker, Klachko is done with football after transferring, A-Rod no clue here, Hardrick was ok. Still wonder what that guy could have done with 4-5 yrs in a D1 weightroom

  5. Exactly, Bo has lost loads of talent that has not been replaced. Our defense has gotten worse
  6. if these commits leave to be with morrow at UK fine. If they leave us to go somewhere else then what the hell sold them on us. A GA? Come on fellas. They would leave because they had built a relationship with the coach recruiting them...it isn't the recruits fault there recruiting coach was our GA. Sounds like our issue.
  7. what? when? against who? Teams that ran a variation of the spread. Michigan w/ Dennard, Northwestern, tOSU runs several spread formations. UCLA is a multiple offense but I would not consider it a spread offense and more pro though they do run several spread formations. we were referencing the big 12's spread attack. We had a defense of Callahans NFL players. That's the difference now we get blown out with Bo's players. Regardless of scheme etc we should not get blown out
  8. Theyre not excuses. Theyre reasons. There are reasons for everything that happens in life. These are the reasons we are having issues as a football program. You listed them all. None of which should be excuses for NEBRASKA. And full circle we come, right back to the entitled "we deserve better" mindset. You are right lets strive for bowl game and winning seasons. We are only Nebraska just another college team. That isn't how you win championships and winning championships is what NU is all about.

UCLA is a multiple offense but I would not consider it a spread offense and more pro though they do run several spread formations. You agreed with my point with this one phrase. The spreads we face now are nothing like what we say in the Big 12. Name on Big 12 quarterback we faced with the fraction of the mobility that Robinson, Culter and Miller have. .......... ............. ....... .......... None. Not to mention, the play action and designed qb run game by these three guys takes their offenses to another level. Bo's Big12 defense were built off film study, route matching, and simply being prepared and able to read tendancies. The Big12 offenses fed off of being able to get the ball out to the receiever quick enough before the defender knew what what happening. Bo's defenses were great because our db's prepped enought to know what route was coming before the play snapped. Then he would throw in wrinkles up front to confuse the qb and oline such as the spinner with Meredith against Missouri 2010. Edit for the bold- Sorry, I guess we did play RGIII in 2008 I will agree with you on the concepts of the spreads being different. A mobile qb always creates problems. Bo definitely has always struggled for the most part with Mobile QBs. A defensive genius however should never be getting blown out regardless of the teams formations.
  11. When will we stop coming up with excuses for Bo? We get blown out because we switched conferences. We get blown out because we don't have the right athletes. We get blown out because Bo is still learning. We get blown out because our Coordinators are still learning. We get blown out because it is hard to recruit here. We get blown out because we had to change our recruiting footprint. We get blown out etc etc etc Lets stop making excuses. He has been a HC for 5 years now. No more excuses.

  13. So we hire a 2nd oline coach then have Stai etc and now we give credit to Cotton....Marrow is a better coach and recruiter than Cotton. Marrow is tied into multiple recruits and does more than his share of recruiting.
  14. agree w/ you on this - unfortunately the fact that we are saying that going into year 6 is troublesome, considering assuming he figures it out this year it will be year 8 or 9 before they start making an impact. this is also being said in year 6 because after year 4 we switched conferences which means Bo had to do 2 things. 1) play against teams he had never faced before and figure out their playing styles, and 2) recruit different types of players because of the different playing style of the BIG. I think the offense is a perfect example of what Bo's teams will be in given time, Bo has an idea of what he wants, so he focuses on that and strives to get that type of team. He wanted a offense that could light it up so he recruited the kind of players he wanted and now we have one. Now that we are in the BIG there is a certain type of defense he wants and he is going out and trying to achieve that. I honestly think people over look the impact that switching conferences had on the defense, Bo had to recruit for the Big XII and now he is recruiting for the BIG. I would be that if we were still in the Big XII we would have won the damn thing this year, and if not our only loss would have been to k-state. Our defense is undersized and slow. How would that correlate to winning a conference that is better than the B1G? I thank god daily that we switched conferences because this year would have been suicide for us. How the hell can you say that? The total direction of Bo's defensive philosphies-from overall recruiting to where the fricken DE lined up-had to be adjusted. Bo had developed a defense in the Big 12 that was distinctive and revolutionary in it's time and, until that point, was the first to even be remotely close to as dominant as it was in that era of sling-it-all-around big 12 football. You can say Callahans' recruits bla bla bla and Suh this and Prince that, but the bottom line is Bo put the guys in position within a system he devised. He had also developed a niche in recruiting for that system. All DB's and and moblie, smaller DLlineman, and few LB's, fully explaining the performance of those respectable posititions. It's not a science or an excuse Hedly, it's common sense. These things all changed when conferences were changes I'm the first to say that this "3 yards and cloud of dust big10" perception is misleading. There are spread teams in the Big 10, but still, they are balanced. No offense in the Big10 operates like what we saw almost every week in the Big 12. The Big 10 still requires the use of lb's. We pretty much abandoned the linebacker postition in the Big12. Bo didn't invent or revolutionalize that defense. He grabbed an old scheme and happened to have a roster full of NFL talent on the defense. We looked like poo against any teams that ran a spread attack too. This is more than changing conferences. Changing conferences doesn't equate to getting BLOWN out

  16. I think we all know why SE was brought here
  17. The other problem with this excuse is Wisconsin didn't know for sure who they were playing until a week before the CCG. Nebraska didn't clinch the division until the final week of the season. So the prepping for us excuse flies out the window...lets just stick with out coached and out executed. We were under prepared and lost. We have seen this the last two years and I don't understand it at all
  18. ??? Don't agree? Many people here would actually agree with me in regards to Marrow being a solid recruiter.
  19. I am sure plenty of people would take a 6 figure job to coach football....on Bo's staff you do not even have to be qualified! :moreinteresting :moreinteresting :moreinteresting :moreinteresting :moreinteresting
  20. Is Marrow even allowed to recruit, not being a member of the staff?... They put in some sort of request allowing him to recruit on the road for Cotton....that seems to put the writing on the wall. However Cotton is hurt or something along those lines.
  21. He is one of our best if not our best recruiter. You have to make room. There will be at least 1 spot open but the question is. Was Bo planning on using it for Marrow? Or was he planning on Marrow getting a slot next season
  22. Then stop being a hypocrite know it all. But you talk down to people with all your limitless inside knowledge... HL, a word of advice, don't get your dick caught in the stirrup, getting up on your high horse... I state my opinion while you call names. You have no right to call anyone a hypocrite. If you want to continue this please take it to PM Not calling names, merely stating what many people feel that you bring to the board, which isn't very much. If you are unable to tolerate the heat you bring upon yourself, due to you presenting yourself as an unabashed know it all, then I don't know what to tell you... 23. Agree with you guys. Hunt is equal to this kid at the very least. He doesn't want to be a husker obviously
