  1. I learned that Michigan Stares balanced offense is a dumpster fire without a NFL caliber quarterback.
  2. Sure I did! You don't really care what our offense looks like. Which is not a recipe for consistent success.
  3. It shows that when the running game is working, the running game works. And the running game doesn't work as well without a legitimate passing threat, something Langsdorf and pretty much every coach understands better than the guys who can't stop using the phrase "pass happy." Did you watch the Illinois game? At the end of the 3rd quarter Nebraska had 89 yards rushing. Would you say that's going good? Because we stuck with it we were able to put them away. Spin it however you want. The numbers don't lie. I was thrilled to watch our offensive line come together and Terrell Newby step up and have Nebraska power its way to a fourth quarter win. But it's not like we didn't run the ball in the first half. It's that we ran it better. Either wearing Illinois down or countering their defensive adjustments or both. There will be games where the defense does better against our running game. Langsdorf will have to adjust and you'll freak out. Remember, some folks scream when three consecutive rushing plays don't get that crucial first down. That fumble hurts just as much as an interception. Or to look at it another way, Nebraska scored 52 points in its most pass-happy game against Wyoming. The most points of the season. Using your logic, Langsdorf should have stayed pass happy because that's what works. See? Numbers do lie. All the time. Do you understand that a big reason we lost 7 games last year was mostly due to the fact that we abandoned the running game? We are also 4-0 this year because we have actually stuck with it. Is a coincidence that we are killing teams in the 4th quarter? Keep deluding yourself into thinking that passing the ball is going to take us to the promised land but I'll point out we've had 3 losing seasons in 5 years in your preferred offense.

  5. I think that other teams come in with that attitude. That's why we are seeing more passing in the first half than second half. Langs throws a few more times to make them pay for it, they loosen up and we pound it at them in the second half.Exactly, other teams come in focused on the run. And since we actually have a credible passing threat we can make them pay for that. Good times. Did you actually look at the numbers? They show that when we've tried to be balanced we scored less points this season. Then in the second half when we recommit to running the ball we are scoring more points and our completion percentage is going up.
  6. It's a small sample but pretty much shows that when Langsdorf stays committed to the run we score points. When he gets pass happy... not so much.
  7. Some of this was due to the way Illinois played us. Took away TA in out RPO game.
  8. Tommy will sling it all over the yard against Wisky. Mark my words. If he does we will lose.
  9. Sad day for Nebraska. My condolences to his friends and family. RIP coach.
  10. Those boys don't have the stones to pull that crap in Lincoln.
  11. Anytime you want to breakdown game tape let me know. Should be good for a laugh. You stick with your hodge podge offensive plan. I'm going to stick with a proven way to win at Nebraska.
  12. Not true Actually, that was the kind of thinking that got us to beat Oregon last week. Losing to Purdue was a result of a lot of bad fortune in the previous weeks - that snowballed / players that didn't know what to think about the new staff / coaches that didn't have a handle of exactly what the players could do / and probably about 5 other things that us fans don't know about. Bad fortune? You've got to be kidding me. We got straight up outcoached. Purdue stacked the box in the first half and Langford got pass happy even though we were able to run the ball against them. Which is even more puzzling with Fyfe getting his first start.
  13. Games like Purdue happen because the opponent has guys on scholarship, too. Games like Purdue happen because guys on our team aren't fully bought in. Games like Purdue happen because the coaches ask a green QB to throw it 40+ times. Games like Purdue happen because your starting QB, WR, WR & RB are injured & out. That is also the kind of thinking that gets you games like: Michigan State Rutgers Iowa UCLA Oregon It's the kind of thinking most every OC in America, at all levels of the game, do. Maybe Kiffin in Alabama can just line up and do whatever he wants, maybe the OC in Louisville this year. There aren't more than ten in the country who can do that. Everyone else takes what the defense gives them. That includes teams trying to claw back into relevance like Nebraska. I agree with very little in this post. If you go back and look at the 3 big wins on that list what do they all have in common? We stayed committed to the run game. Even if it didn't pay huge dividends on the stat sheet. (Mich State) Games like Purdue and Illinois happen because we settled for what the defense was giving them. On the second point I'd like you to point out one of these balanced teams that has been consistent over the last 5 to 10 years? Before you say Alabama I'll stop you and point out that they are not a balanced offense. They are a power running team first and foremost. If you don't think so watch Sabin chew Kiffins a$$ every time he try's getting cute.
  14. Would pretty much be identical to Callahan's second year. So I gotta say no. For me it's going to be 4 years of consistent winning with a championship of some sort. Otherwise minus the abrasive personality he wouldn't have accomplished anything Pelini hasn't done.
  15. This is the kind of thinking that leads to games like Purdue.
  16. no it's taking advantage of the defense.
  17. My problem with taking what the defense gives you is that it is playing into the hands of the defense.
  18. Maybe a more telling stat. Excluding the drive to score before half when we had to throw the ball to save clock only our first scoring drive featured more passes than runs. 3 runs/5passes. The next two after half were 6runs/1pass, 7runs/3passes and the game winning drive which was 9 runs and 2 passes. Anybody else notice a pattern here?
  19. Your post about the closet navy fan. That wasn't a dig at me? If you want to talk smack don't cry when somebody fires back at you.
  20. You put the shot across my bow first Elf. I didn't make a personnel attack toward you. Just made a comment about how bad your posts are.

  22. I learned that no matter how many times Elf posts they don't get and smarter.
  23. I was hoping someone would bring this up. The point is that if Mike Riley couldn't consistently recruit the players he needed to run his system at Oregon State why was he running it? This should be good
  24. Yeah, go to Navy football recruiting. Last year 87. And the two years before that 120's.
  25. He's a fun project since we want to nitpick what Navy's done. Why don't we look at the recruiting rankings of all the teams we lost to last year. That should be educational.
