I am just happy that we have some consistency of coaching staff, consistency of Offensive and Defensive systems, etc. The coaching can move into another level when the system is constant. Kind of like a TO philosophy.

It seems as though we finally have some stability and an identity for our offense, after much experimentation over the last decade. I have two questions for the XnO guys on this board: 1. What exactly do we run? Is it a frankenstein offense with pieces from several places? How do we define it? 2. What nickname would you give it? I think the offense is stable and successful at the moment, and warrants a nickname.

Is he a douche because of the whining about Nebraska winning the "best team of the century" or whatever the heck it was poll? Maybe, but I think he had a valid arguement, and he felt passionate about it. Whatever. Is he a douche because he hates Nebraska? Nope. He doesn't. Is he a douche because he is bad at his job? Nope. He isn't. Is he a douche because he is an egotistical pretty boy? Sure. But many national personalities and celebrities are douches as well. It kind of goes with the territory. Its not like he went all Christian Bale on Pelini or something. In conclusion: Yes he is a douche in a sea of less-talented and less-informed douches. Why do we care, again?

I agree that it is silly to pick MSU to win the division, but Herbie is not the only one who has come to that same conclusion. Most people at this time of year simply look at what a team did last year, especially on the televised games. When the spotlight was on us, our defense crapped the bed. That is the image many have, and they will be surprised to see our defense dominate this year. Usually Herbie adds something to the discussion rather than just repeat what everyone else says. Not this time, though. I seriously doubt that he hates Nebraska.

He is just reiterating mostly what other opinionators have said about our chances to win the Legends division. No big surprise there. We will get talked about when we earn it with wins. Doesn't bother me any. I like being under the radar. I will be excited as hell when ol' Herbie is forced to acknowledge us AFTER we destroy all our opponents.

Hard to judge when the Purdue link is dead. Liked the Hoosiers one, tho. Bull bat is a common name for the Nighthawk (a bird, not a bat). Common bird in Nebraska in the Summer, active around dusk and dawn. Eats loads of flying insects, just like a bat. The call always makes me think of summer. Here's a vid with the call:

I agree with the above sentiments about talent being the major issue, and here are some more examples to chew on. Remember the 2003 season and how well our defense suddenly became? Craig Bohl was not a bad coach (b2b D1AA champs) but there is something about Bo's affect on the elite players that is just different. I remember some of the players saying that Bo kind of "freed them up" to just play instinctively and the results were great for guys like Super Demorrio, etc. Also remember Suh's progress under Bo, and how he said the previous staff had told him he was doing fine, but Bo pushed him to find his full potential? I think the collective potential of the defense was just a bit better in 2003 and 2009. JMO
