  1. Dammit, I will not get sucked into that topic.
  2. Well, I am going to cancel my streaming service and save a little money until we do this all again for basketball season.
  3. I am not sure what the latest odds are on a kid ruining his heart from the virus. We probably don't even know if its long term. What about the long terms effects of multiple concussions? They let them play knowing that. What about other risks of contact football? Not to mention they can still catch COVID away from the game. I just walked through the local park last night and the number of cars and HS kids hanging out in the parking lot was pretty dang high. No masks, high fives, loud music and I am sure consumption of alcohol, pot and who knows what. And oh BTW, one of them was our future starting QB who is no longer practicing because they delayed football to the Spring.
  4. Nope. He just knows the Michigan board of regents are pansies.
  5. Now Ed McCaffrey To the University of Michigan and the College Athletic Community: In response to the current state of affairs surrounding the possible cancellation of the 2020 Big Ten college football season, we, the parents of a University of Michigan football player. are compelled to express our support for our child and for the Michigan Wolverines coaching staff and program. We can unequivocally state that Michigan football has taken every measure to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our child. Coach Harbaugh and his staff have maintained consistent communication with us. as well as with other parents. We are well versed in the protocols that have been established by the University of Michigan to reduce risk to our child and to other players and to maintain a safe environment. As such, we have complete trust in the coaching and the medical staff of the University of Michigan. More importantly. we have complete trust in our child and in his ability to determine what is best for him. Therefore, we overwhelmingly support his decision to play football this fall. We strongly believe that denying these players the opportunity to play football this season would jeopardize their fitness, their happiness and their futures. For those players that wish to play, they deserve the opportunity to play. They have spent the better part of their lives preparing for this time of their life and to rob them of the ability to play without assessing the sakty standards and protocols that have been established by a coaching and medical staff selected by the University of Michigan would have damaging long term effects. As football players, they understand risk. As young men, they understand the consequences of their decisions. They are able to balance potential risk with reward. For those players that elect to play. we stand by them and we support them. We believe that our child’s participation in Michigan football this fall is the best possible environment that he can be in during these uncertain times. Lisa and Ed McCaffrey
  6. Congrats on lots of quotes. This thread became a train wreck and people post here to bloviate. I am guilty as charged. The good news is that this thread will die if the Big Ten announces they are playing tomorrow. If the season gets cancelled I would take a break and come back in the Spring.
  7. They keep moving the goalposts. Some do it for medical reasons, others for political reasons. Our school district is half time remote. They sited the infection rate in the county and said it needed to be below 4 to go back full time. It has been dropping for two weeks now and is down to 3. If I point out to the school board that based on the infection rate we can go full time, I am sure they will move the goalposts again. If it were me, I would suggest we start school as planned half time on campus, half remote, and if the infection rate stays below 4 after 3 to 4 weeks of half time, we open up fully. I have no scientific basis for this suggestion. I am just using their criteria against them to prove they pulled it out of their a$$.
  8. No worries. Just pointing out there is a willingness to play from coaches and players. It also sounds like the program is doing everything they can to adhere to guidelines, much like wearing masks when required. I think he means to say they we have done what was asked of us and are succeeding. That’s a little different than being obstinate. I appreciate the civility on this board BTW. The Michigan board has devolved into chaos and everyone blaming everyone. Completely out of control over there right now. I also heard no vote was taken after all, but that might be wishful thinking. We need a statement from the Big Ten soon.
  9. Plea from coach Harbaugh. “We respect the challenge that the virus has presented, but we will not cower from it”
  10. Maybe there should be large mosh pits on each campus and get it over with in two weeks.
  11. Yup. I hope the SEC plays and makes us look bad. As you can tell, I am not taking this well. Let the kids and coaches who want to play, play and sign waivers.
  12. Players Union forming to try and play this fall? https://www.elevenwarriors.com/ohio-state-football/2020/08/115630/justin-fields-trevor-lawrence-lead-group-of-power-5-players-calling-for-college-football-players-association https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/29631327/college-football-stars-organize-hold-call-further-unite-issue-statement
  13. Trevor Lawrence’s opinion. “People are at just as much, if not more risk, if we don’t play. Players will all be sent home to their own communities where social distancing is highly unlikely and medical care and expenses will be placed on the families if they were to contract COVID-19,”Lawrence said on Twitter. “Not to mention the players coming from situations that are not good for them/ their future and having to go back to that. Football is a safe haven for so many people. We are more likely to get the virus in everyday life than playing football. Having a season also incentivizes players being safe and taking all of the right precautions to try to avoid contracting covid because the season/ teammates safety is on the line. Without the season, as we’ve seen already, people will not social distance or wear masks and take the proper precautions.”
  14. If players and coaches want to play, let them sign a waiver and play. Players who opt out can keep the scholarship and get a medical redshirt. For next years NFL player the redshirt won’t matter, and they will not play in the Spring anyway.
  15. I stopped watching pro sports a long time ago. I noticed Sunday’s freed up to do other things. I got used to it and don’t feel any desire to watch pro sports. I wonder if the same will happen for College football. More college football stars will opt out of the Spring season just like the High School kids are doing now...why risk the injury that close to next years combine. The MAC commish mentioned a vaccine. I am not even sure that will happen, so it seems like a cop out. I think the MAC made a choice on $ or lack thereof. Anyway we will find out soon, and I may have my Saturdays free too.
  16. Ohio State players release a statement to clarify that they do not align with #BigTenUnited. https://t.co/IL4Hman5Cv — RedditCFB (@RedditCFB) August 7, 2020 I guess when you are getting paid it makes playing a lot easier.
  17. This sound really dumb, and recipe for bad stats.
  18. I wonder who leaks stuff like this to ESPN. Either way this is great. Heats up the rivalry. We need more of that.
  19. Yeah but starters are familiar with the system and scheme. MSU has an all new system and coach lingo they are not familiar with. Plus a bunch of new starters.Spring would have been the time to install that.
  20. I forgot we all picked up another game. Is Iowa away? Wisky’s schedule is a joke, especially since they play Michigan.
  21. The complaints are because OSU drew Illinois, Purdue and Nebraska instead of Iowa, Wisconsin, and Minnesota.
  22. MSU is a gimme. New coach, lost good players no spring practice.
  23. They will all be immune by then, it’s their strategy. They will win games by virtue of being the only team with no cases during the season...win by forfeit.
