  1. This sound really dumb, and recipe for bad stats.
  2. I wonder who leaks stuff like this to ESPN. Either way this is great. Heats up the rivalry. We need more of that.
  3. Yeah but starters are familiar with the system and scheme. MSU has an all new system and coach lingo they are not familiar with. Plus a bunch of new starters.Spring would have been the time to install that.
  4. I forgot we all picked up another game. Is Iowa away? Wisky’s schedule is a joke, especially since they play Michigan.
  5. The complaints are because OSU drew Illinois, Purdue and Nebraska instead of Iowa, Wisconsin, and Minnesota.
  6. MSU is a gimme. New coach, lost good players no spring practice.
  7. They will all be immune by then, it’s their strategy. They will win games by virtue of being the only team with no cases during the season...win by forfeit.
  8. On the bright side, this thread topic can only live for a few more weeks.
  9. I was just thinking...why do I have this feeling Rutgers is going to cancel the season...maybe Maryland too. on the bright side that entire team may have antibodies to start the season.
  10. everyone should want MSU this year. They lost a ton and have a new coach that wasn't able to install a new system this Spring. Although NU gets them late in the season.
  11. So did Colorado. Feel bad for the kids. The coaches at my boys high school are very disappointed.
  12. Can those 26 players practice together in quarantine? If it’s the right mix they can even scrimmage. If all 85 on the roster test positive they can all practice in a COVID bubble and be ready to play the season recoverd from COVID.
  13. This is roughly what I heard. Since I frequent Michigan boards what I heard was that Harbaugh or others on the coaching staff made comments like the one above about the program in a meeting with players. One of the players was from Belleville and the comments got back to the HS coach. He was butt hurt and actively steers his players away from Michigan, not to mention he makes recruiting at the HS a bit adversarial. The story is told from the HS coach’s perspective, so of course he is not going to make himself look bad, and Michigan can’t talk about a recruit right now. Not sure if grades are an issue either. This recruit had Kentucky in his top group, which typically is a sign that grades might be lacking. Harbaugh/Michigan does a great job with parents. I gotta believe that they would end around the coach if their was genuine interest from the athlete.
  14. This morning....updated schedule?? https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.si.com/.amp-indiana/college/indiana/football/big-ten-release-football-schedule-tuesday
  15. So you are saying that the US farted and blamed it on Spain. That is not a qustion. No need to respond.
  16. Ha. No it is not well established and good luck tracing it in 1918. In the US, it supposedly started in the spring of 1918 in a military camp during WWI when troops had been deployed in Europe since June of 1917. What source do you have that says it is a well established fact of origin?
  17. Because no one knows the true origin, and Spain was like that little kid in class that got blamed for the fart.
  18. Yes players. They have asked players from other conferences to join them. I think this list was already posted. Sorry if it’s a repeat. From Maizenbrew: “The players come with some earth-shattering demands that are sure to have the NCAA and its conference concerned. Rightfully so, the top priority for these student-athletes is the “Health and Safety Protections” they wish to be put in place due to the coronavirus. PAC-12 players insist that they have the option to opt-out without losing scholarship or position on a team, and prohibit universities from forcing waivers that waive liability. Another command is that a third-party sets the standards for the COVID-19 protocols to avoid any bias towards either side. Next up is a biggie, and that is guaranteeing the protection of all sports enabled by universities. Cuts of athletic programs have been made by some of the most prolific institutions in the country including Stanford and the University of Cincinnati. The PAC-12 player cited Stanford’s cuts while the institution sits on “their $27.7 billion endowment (fund).” #WeAreUnited believes the school should dip into that fund to pay off the losses due to the coronavirus instead of defunding programs. They also call for “voluntary and drastically reduced excessive pay” from the coaches, administrators, and PAC-12 commissioner Larry Scott. Next is a call to “end racial injustice in college sports and society”. PAC-12 players request task forces to be made up of people of their choosing to “address outstanding issues such as racial injustice in college sports and in society.” They also command that 2% of conference revenue go to supporting low-income black students at these colleges and the surrounding community. #WeAreUnited claims that “unjust rules prevent the 98% of college football and basketball players who won’t go pro from capitalizing economically on what would otherwise be the most valuable years of our lives, including many Black players from low-income homes” This is why the players tag on the most polarizing conversation that has been had for eons between student-athletes and the NCAA, “economic freedom and equity”. Players demand medical insurance, the right to “earn money for name, image, likeness, and reputation”, and a right to “50% of each sport’s total conference revenue (be distributed) evenly among athletes in their respective sports.” PAC-12 players also demand that the conference eliminate “all policies and practices restricting or deterring our freedom of speech, our ability to fully participate in charitable work, and our freedom to participate in campus activities outside of mandatory athletics participation.” Going further, the players urge the conference to give more power to the players and where they want to play. This follows a similar note Jim Harbaugh wrote to the NCAA that would allow one time transfers without any repercussions and additional transfer privilege in abusive situations, and allow players the opportunity to return to their university after going undrafted within seven days of their respective drafts.”
  19. “Right now this sits only with the PAC-12 conference players and some who have shared the article on social media have already been dismissed from their teams. Theo Lawson reports that: “ @TheoLawson_SR Am told multiple other #WSU players who shared the "#WeAreUnited" graphics have been released from the team, as well. Theo Lawson @TheoLawson_SR I just got off the phone with John Woods, the father of #WSU WR Kassidy Woods, who says Kassidy was told to clean out his locker tomorrow. Woods is technically still on scholarship, but was "released" from the team yesterday, his father says. 3:36 PM · Aug 2, 2020
  20. If this takes off I would like to change my vote to. “There will NOT be a college football season.” The Big Ten has threatened to go to non scholarship sports if players get paid. Ivy League probably would go there in a hart beat. What if there were no athletic scholarships?
  21. I remember the first schedule you guys got when you joined the Big 10. The league really rolled out the welcome mat that year. I think this is what started the complaints. SATURDAY, OCT 1 at Wisconsin SATURDAY, OCT 8 Ohio State SATURDAY, OCT 22 at Minnesota SATURDAY, OCT 29 Michigan State SATURDAY, NOV 5 Northwestern SATURDAY, NOV 12 at Penn State SATURDAY, NOV 19 at Michigan FRIDAY, NOV 25 Iowa
  22. Starting off with some good games. Can't wait to see the Big10 schedule.
