  1. Its a group therapy thread. We all have Maryland /Rutgers buyer's remorse and need to talk about more interesting options for the futrue.
  2. Good picks. Once you hit 18, why not go for 20, with newbies in red. NU,OU,UT,KU,Mizzou Iowa, Wiscy, NW, Illini, Minn Purdue,IU,MSU,OSU,Mich PSU,Rutgers,Maryland,Virginia,GT They meet all the criteria (except OU=AAU), and many annual rivalries are back. I am just not sure that Nebraska can stomach being in the same pod as Texa$$. Would it be an awkward threesome?
  3. In terms of Kansas, their football stadium has a track around it. Football does not have much support. I listen to a bit of KC sports talk radio and KU basketball dominates the KC market. The radio shows consider KU basketball to be KC's NBA team, and KU has no academic issues. Oklahoma has the national football brand that the B1G needs in the next round of expansion, academics asside. I think the BIG12's GOR run until 2018, about 2 years before the ACC's. I could be wrong about that. Those are the 2 I would next on the radar. I believe the ACC GOR is until 2026. The Big12 isn't too far before that.
  4. Everyone needs to remember the Big Ten looks for AAU membership (unless your ND or a big time football program, OU,FSU), new markets, contiguous states, and land grant schools are a plus. All of these schools are behind GORs, but I would list Kansas, Texas, Missouri, Virginia, NC, GT and ND would still be welcome I am sure. OU and FSU if they have a good partner. I heard FSU is close to applying for AAU status. Outside of Texas imploding the Big12, I wouldn't look for much to happen for about 10 years.
  5. Pitt certainly would have wanted PSU. I wonder if MSU was the other? They have good hoops and think they get a lack of respect by the Big10. Anyway, it was one of the schools with good hoops I am sure. Seems like a silly lawsuit however.
  6. Don't forget....OSU might get FSU minus Winston if he is indicted for assault.
  7. Some of this was bogus. Mich rotates quite a few in on the D-line and Taco has played. Maybe not recently since Beyer is back on the line, but I have seen him in games. Other stuff seems feasible. Green thought he had the number 1 job wrapped up before he showed up, and then showed up overweight and out of shape. I can see Richardson leaving. An underclassmen from his high school is getting more PT. The rest I have no clue about.
  8. Any school left on the Big East Titantic would have gladly jumped into the Bug yacht. But that has not the reason they signed a non-disclosure agreement. Those are signed so people feel free to negotiate regardless of how many parties there are. I didn't state this well. Here is the quote. 'Delany agreed that the process wasn't ideal but said the conference had to move swiftly and quietly because several other institutions were seeking the same spot.' He was responding to the fact that the decision was made quickly and with late notice to the regents. THat makes more sense I think. But why does UCONN wanting in affect whether Maryland's BOR could debate the move? Was there a self-imposed deadline? If there was a time factor it was probably that the ACC's GOR was coming soon, effectively walling off those schools. It could have been the GOR timing that pushed it. Or The Big 10 really wanted Maryland, others wanted in, so the Big Ten pushed them with the high pressure sales approach. I guess I am wondering who the several other schools were. Buyers remorse I guess. :-) What could have been.

  10. http://articles.baltimoresun.com/2013-11-05/sports/bs-sp-maryland-big-ten-1106-20131105_1_big-ten-commissioner-jim-delany-university-president-wallace-loh Interesting comment by Delany. He mentions that Maryland had to keep the negotiation secret because several other schools were interested in their spot. I wonder if other ACC schools were ticked off Maryland got it and thus signed the GO R.
  11. He's not very good at playing dirty. Just doesn't have the Moxie. If he went to MSU, he would be better at it.
  12. Fun discussion. After Maryland and Rutgers were added, its obvious we all want a more traditional football power next. I read the posts at ShaggyBevo. Didn't seem like there was anything to them. Someone once again claiming to have insider info. I wouldn't trust anything coming from a Texas board, anyway. I would be shocked if they joined. I am also skeptical that the Big Ten is interested in OU (AAU issue), but think it would be awesome for Nebraska to play them on the Friday before Thanksgiving every year.
  13. If I pick one, OU....but would rather have... OU, Virginia (4x4 team pods to keep rivalries together as much as possible)
  14. Just thought I would repeat this again. Michigan loses 3-4 conf games. Could be anyone. They also can pull off what will now be deemed an upset.... over anyone since they will be the underdog.
  15. after this weekend....Northwestern has to be licking their chops. Probably gonna be an OSU vs NW final.
  16. Sounds like Silas Redd is having a tough go of it at USC. He did okay, but not great, last year at USC. Had 900 yards and nine TDs. Hasn't suited up yet this year due to injury. And his coach is one blowout loss away from getting canned. "Sometimes you eat the bar. And sometimes the bar eats you." —The Stranger Probably my favorite non-Husker stat from last year U$C: 7-6 Penn St.: 8-4 If those kids hadn't left, PSu would have easily been 9-3...just for having a great kicker in the Virginia game. They also would have beaten Ohio. 10-2.

Big will start playing in September. That will open later slots.
  18. It turned out better than last weekend...except for indiana. I will reserve judgement until after next weekend. Next up, NU and Wiscy need big wins. Bonus points if the Illini can pull an upset.

    Mich-ND

Well ND Joe, I for one will sincerely miss this game. Win or lose, it makes my September football. Playing Arkansas and VT in the future won't be the same. I hope UofM tries to pick up USC, UCLA or someone like that to replace ND and start a new rivalry. Or maybe ND and MIch will just make up and start playing this game again. The sooner the better.

Dig of the game: Michigan Stadium played “The Chicken Dance” following the win, which is a reference back to last May when Hoke said that Notre Dame was chickening out of the rivalry.

Game Day is in Ann Arbor this weekend....for a regional rivalry with no national interest. Actually, Kelly backed off his comments. http://espn.go.com/c...ichigan-rivalry It is now a 'great and historic rivalry'. Maybe he is just joking.

Yeah. Whatever helps you feel better Coach Kelly. http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=espn:9626908
