  1. Sounds like A FL-ST lean right now, but likes Ron Brown a lot. Article in Husker Extra , I need to learn to post links, not good on computers..lol
  2. Im going to be spending some time in Deerfield beach this summer, should I find this guy and get in his ear?....I know, I know...against the rules right? Must be pretty damn good with that LSU offer
  3. Holy crap , that was almost the junior wold record. Which is 10.01. This kid could be an Olympian in track.
  4. The other thing is 1 rep maxing is not how these guys are training. More in the body building range of 8 to 12 reps. I bet Suh can rep 450 for several reps. But he doesnt need to . On his last set he probably slaps on 4 wagon wheels a side and reps out at least 8- 10. Why risk tearing a pec and push 500. Thats not going to help him with the endurance to push around the big boys for a whole game. Maliek probably has long arms at 6'2, like myself. I'm much stronger with dumbells, have done reps with 120 pounders, but I have maxed out with 335 only a couple of years ago on the flat barbell bench press. No reason to worry, this dude is going to be a stud. Oh, and I have seen high school kids pushing some big weight, while it looks like they are trying to hump the ceiling ..lol
  5. So you hope the SEC sodomizes Kentucky this season? Thats a little extreme dont you think. Every time a kentucky player gets tackle's the opposing SEC player says " thats right squeal like a pig boy" I was thinking Kentucky would just get the Ned Beatty treatment in the figurative rather than literal sense. Literal would be kinda icky. They are totally looking to raid Ohio and we'll be going head-to-head for a lot of guys. Last thing we need is that program getting any momentum. I hear ya. We need those Ohio guys they are getting. Why didn't we hire Marrow. Just no positions available? Either way. We have what, 3 Ohio guys on our staff, and Marrow is out recruiting them all? We have to step it up. I would like to see us get 5 guys from Ohio every year. Just dont understand why they would want to go to a cellar dweller program over us. I dont care if its the SEC , they still suck.
  6. Im sure he is very unhappy with that time. He said all along he liked the 200 better and wanted the state record badly, which was 21.1. I think he got the state meet record, but not the state record. He is so competitive , that I know he is very pissed right now. And I'm sure he was not happy with the 10.6 either. I'm happy with both. Thier are not many 6'2 220 pound sprinters any where in the world. This guy is going to be a super star for us, I just know it
  7. They will get his bench up to 400 in no time. He comes from a little high school with im sure sub par facilities, and not strength coach i bet. Also the training table we have will help him build his strength. I doubt his diet is where it need to be also. Food is more anabolic than the juice. His is an 18 year old give him a minute

  9. Where did he camp? I dont remember where it was at but there were some high level prospects at the camp. Rivals rated him as the second biggest disappointment of the camp. Maybe others will back off a little and the Huskers will "settle" for a lower-rated in-state prospect. Yeah that would be awesome
  10. Never one time did I claim he was a bad football player. Nice try though. What if he doesn't grow????? It will not be a huge loss if he leaves the state for football. My only problem with the whole what if he doesn't grow or pan out is, what if he burns our corners and safeties for three or four years while at say Wisconsin? He'd have to get off of a jam from a corner that has 2 inches and 20 pounds on him first. As Paul mentioned as well he doesn't get good separation at his current level. We are going to have a corner that is 6'3" 210. Wowsers! I didn't know we had another SJB waiting in the wings I think some people think Cotton is a small kid or something. He is 6'1 190...thats a good size corner, or reciever. I know his dad never paned out even though he was great athlete., I have a feeling this kid is going to prove the doubters wrong
  11. Hand-held times have .24 added to match electronic times. So Gerry ran a 10.52 electronic equivilant. He also weighs 40 lbs more, and is a football player as was said before. Kenzo is not a football player. Really , he doesnt play football in high school. Thats crazy that Wisky and K-Sucks would offer a guy who doesnt play football...
  12. I dont get it. Does each letter say a different thing ? What a waste of paper. Any way what are peoples thought on this kid? He kicks ass at camp and he is N it sounds like. 3* in state kid, I hope he gets it.
  13. Not as fast as 2013 Husker signee Nathan Gerry, who set the 100m state record for South Dakota last month at 10.3 (actually 10.28), but still would be fun to watch if they ever went head-to-head. That was hand held, Cotton's time is electronic. Speed kills, we for sure need this guy in pads. A lot of the SEC guys run track. Of course in the Big 12 both Jamal Charles and RG3 both ran at least one season in college. People will say, what about Robert Rands, think that was his name right? Well he was a long jumper only , and did not have 10.4 100 meter speed. Would love to see Gerry match that or better it next week.
  14. You should have found Mark Gilman to interview. I was a P.E major and became good friends with him during that time, as we were in all the same classes. As you know he was lifter of the year one year, and he was a real character. A very funny outgoing guy. He was 6'3 190 coming out of h.s, and ended up being a major factor in the Huskers winning the Orange bowl. He caught the first touchdown pass to put us on the board from Berringer. I would love to reconnect with him. I was a skinny guy back then and he wrote me out a workout plan, that I used to bulk up over the years. He was always doing Arnold Schwarzenegger impressions , which always cracked us up. Aww...the glory days. To be a student and have a buddy on that great team Mark Gilman was my insurance agent for a couple years here in Hastings. He also spent a lot of time up at the Y in weight room when I was doing the same during that same period. A character to say the least yet very fun to be around. Do you know where he is now? I should find him on facebook. We had a class where we had to do very sport you could imagine, including gymnastics. It was funny watching him at 240 pounds have to do the all that stuff. We even had to do a running hand spring off the the vault . We also had LB Doug Coleman in class, and one day , I cant remember what sport it was, but ultra competitive Mark ruffed up Doug, and just walked away, like thats what you get defensive boy. we were taught by the kids who took the class the year before us. Guess who our badminton teacher was? Olympic Gold medalist Rulon Gardner

  16. Is it just the camera angle or what, but his arms look short compared to the rest of his body. He has a lot of work to do in the weight room as well. I know he is only 17 and will be a project
  17. Do we know for sure that was hand held? That 21.5 200 time was electronic. Of course that was a bigger meet. Just saw video of a 17 year old Japanese kid running a junior world record time of 10.01, maybe we should recruit him
  18. I'll give it a try and use examples. Not every good player in college is a good fit for pro football. Example 1. Ed Steward, and Troy Dumas were starting LBs on NU's 1994 National Championship team. Steward was an 1st team AA and a Butkus award finalist. He never to my knowledge played a down in the NFL. Example 2. Doug Coleman was an LB on that also and even started about half the games that year until he was over taken by Phil Ellis who started the rest of the year and all the next year at MLB. Ellis never played a down in the NFL but Coleman played 5-6 years in the NFL. Example 3. Jay Forman played LB on from 95' to 98' he then played 7-8 years of pro ball. He started at Will LB as a RSFr, but then was moved to being a backup at MLB behind Jon Hesse. Why wasn't he playing in front of Hesse who I believe was originally a walk-on. I can go on and on with examples like this, but what the use, you refuse to listen to arguments that state otherwise. Hi, lurking for a while, and had to join so I could respond to this reply. We were family friends with the Hesse's, and Jon was not a walk on. He was a scholarship player for sure. The kid was athlete of the year his senior year in the state out of Lincoln Southeast. He was pretty damn good. He really made his way up the ladder on special teams. He would absolutely blow people up on kick offs and punt returns.
