  1. Honest question. Will Husker fans actually fly to Vegas for this? Over/under 10 fans that show up on a plane, specifically for or inspired by his signing.
  2. Sharp and Benning right now debating if any of the receiver recruits are a "burner". They are pondering if McQuitty is the guy to take the lid off the defense. Isn't Lindsey a big time speed guy?
  3. The part that is hard to accept is that he called the new staff to confirm that he still had the scholarship after Diaco was fired and they confirmed. They should have let him know their plans at that time to give him the most possible time to find a school.
  4. Super slimy move by the new regime at UCONN, pulling linebacker Ryan Dickens' offer by no fault of his own. Dickens has offers from a list of great schools-Columbia, Princeton, Dartmouth- and chose UCONN for their business school. Was a Diaco recruit. I don't know if this is legal, but could he get an academic scholarship and walk on the team? Or does any scholarship become athletic once they make it? Feel really sorry for the kid and hope he lands somewhere he thrives. That wants him. http://www.app.com/story/sports/high-school/red-zone/2017/01/17/hs-football-raritans-dickens-scramble-mode-after-uconn-pulls-offer/96682558/
  5. I'm all for the hiring of the most Italian defense in college football
  6. Why would Tosh make a move here for anything that isn't DC?
  7. When a kid is this local and they take an official visit, what does the athletic department do, send an Uber???
  8. So are the huskers completely out on JC now???
  9. Wow Wow Wow McQuitty, KJJ, Lindsey..... Add Joseph Lewis and GOOD LUCK B1G!
  10. The Huskers just did what a major school does. A guy doesn't perform to the level of expectations, friend or not, you're gone. You are exactly right, if Riley and Banker were at Oregon State, he'd still be DC. Because that is OSU. This shows Riley gets it a little more than people give him credit for. Arkansas will hire in house (because they dragged their feet and Nebraska bigtimed them), Wisconsin will hire someone else who will be gone in two years for under or around $1 million The Huskers just showed some guts on a level they haven't since hiring a literal NFL gm to run the show. This is a good move that big time schools make. Feel good about it for a little, at least!!
  11. With his buyout from UConn, is he getting that on top of what the Huskers are paying? Or do they get let off the hook?
  12. and the fish cake stuff is some of the more mild mannered stuff he spewed when he was at UConn. The guy was praising our defense for making major improvements after we got blown out at ECU this year by 35 points. The guy is a certified looney toon What do you mean? He says some unique and eccentric things, sure. But there are highly regarded coaches in this sport who do actual bad things, like drive drunk multiple times, but Bob Diaco makes some bad analogies or says something off-center and break out the scarlet letter for him. He also said it was insane and ridiculous after the ECU game. I understand the passion, but UConn football woes start and end beyond Bob Diaco. I totally get how UConn fans hold him accountable, but did he hang those asinine "6th Borough"billboards in New York? Philly is closer to NYC than Storrs. That was dumber than any meaningless trophy
  13. Sure, it was super silly and contrived to the nth degree. But so is the American Athletic Conference. It's the waiting room to the P5. He's a coach at a major basketball school and he thought of something to "liven" up a game and it didn't work. He tried to engage a fanbase and motivate his team with a lame promotion. No harm in that. He also is a good defensive coach. Rag on him and blame him for the weakness of the "Civil Conflict" but don't doubt his ability or work ethic because of it. Same for the Nickelodeon idea He may deliver the Blackshirts by military drone or on the backs of tigers
  14. What about Erik Chinander from UCF?????
  15. He's so fun. He proposed a TV deal with Nickelodeon for the AAC.
  16. Any interest in Al Golden???? Is SE familiar with him from Miami??
  17. Oregon seems like an amazing trip. Just wish the weather was more agreeable.
  18. The way-too-early win predictor thread got me thinking of a kinda-too-early road game thread. Anyone already have plans to go to any games next season? Here on the East Coast, I'd love to get to Oregon but will probably get to PSU. Anyone ever been to Happy Valley? What's their reception to opposing fan tailgates??? GBR
  19. I didn't mean backup as in bench guy, that was my fault for being unclear. I was referring to RB not being a pressing need and being able to focus energy elsewhere this cycle. I hope he breaks every rushing record the Huskers have. His success bodes well for how HS players in the state are perceived. But I just think labelling a kid with speculative stars sets them up for inevitable failure.
  20. You'd take 2*s over 4*s? He's only a 2* because of academic issues. He's without a doubt the best player in the state and 24/7 doesn't even have him rated. Bradley is high 3*/ low 4* talent IMO. But he's not until he is. Anyone will acknowledge that his stats are bonkers, but if there is a player out there with the talent of a 4 star running back (which is rare, academics or not) the services will rate them. Just trying not to set the kid up for failure before he gets to school. He's good backup and a bridge between Bryant and what is hopefully TJ Pledger. Nothing wrong with that
  21. We're selling him on being the first Darnay Holmes at Nebraska.Which is great and all.. I get it.. He could become his own brand at NU but you don't get the exposure if you can't win big games. Now do I see him getting the exposure next year at USC that he would at Nebraska? No way. He has a plan of playing 3 years and being a 1st round draft pick. No matter what Nebraska says we don't do that as well as Ohio State or USC. I am sure it's the hope of all these top prospects-the NFL- but this isn't basketball. With each level, the game becomes less and less translatable to the next level. Even Sarrell isn't a lock to be good in the NFL. Just hard to imagine an 17 year old kid already aiming to be a first round pick in three years. Jabril Peppers isn't even a lock
