  1. sorry guys - just moved without thinking to unlock. its open now.
  2. Since this joke isn't Husker football related, and is obviously BS - how bout we move it to the Big Red Lounge/BS forum for people to do what they want with it there.
  3. You've probably noticed the new forum at the top called "Rumorville". Based on discussions amongst our mods and feedback from users, we've decided that it's necessary to dedicate a place to discuss this type of stuff - b/c the main forum is just getting overwhelmed, and it's not going away anytime soon. This will allow us to keep the main forum open for concrete Husker football discussion - which I'm sure we ALL would like to get back to sooner than later... well most of us anyway. So going fwd, please post any hiring or firing related topics in this forum. http://www.huskerboard.com/forums/index.php?showforum=101 Thanks for keeping this board first class.
  4. **These tickets do not belong to me -- they are from the University -- please see contact info below** I have just had 2 people back out of Texas tickets (1 group of 3 and 1 group of 2) and wanted to see if anyone was in need of these tickets. The price is $85.00 each ticket plus $10.00 Federal Express. This is first come first served but I would need to know no later then tomorrow (Oct. 25 at 4:30 p.m.) as they need to be mailed over-night to arrive on Friday. I also have only 7 more Kansas tickets left for Nov. 3rd game. The price on these tickets is $75.00 plus $10.00 Federal Express. This is also first come first served and I would need to know before next Weds. (Oct. 31) to get them mailed out. You can either email me or call me at 888-353-1874 for these tickets. 5. And did the coaches teacher him to drop a punt return and how to turn it over to A&M.....did the coaches teach him how to throw one hand up at a sure touchdown pass from Sam Keller in the second half? I hate to defend Callahan but this is a good point. That dropped punt was a major turning point in the game. There was fan sitting next to me at the game that yelled "Callahan you suck" after Swift dropped that catch. I was like WTF? We need to remember that when it comes down to it, the players just need to make plays sometimes. But when the score is 42-6, 45-14, 36-14 the last three games. There is more wrong here than the players executing. It is preparation. (Or the lack there of) I know you can't compare college to High School but my High School team were State runners up. We practiced balls to the wall full contact Monday through Wednesday and then had a walk through practice full speed with no pads, no contact on Thursday. If we werent practiceing in full pads I know games would have kicked my ass physically. I guess my point is that Callahan is a terrible coach for many reasons and I like the idea of burying him in the sandhills on that guys ranch but the players are still not making critical plays at times. Players always make mistakes. It is bound to happen. However, they didn't get 21 points off of a dropped punt. Teams that we play make mistakes, but there isn't a good enough plan to capitalize off of those mistakes. Swift has been awesome this season and has caught just about everything thrown to him. He's been a great clutch player who makes the plays he needs to. A mistake or two shouldn't cost the game and no team ever got more than 8 points off of a single turn over. Disagree, he's been average at best. Dropped way to many passes and making too many mental errors. I also figured the coaches should have caught those two interceptions that Mckeon and Bowman dropped yesterday. Both of them had two hands on it. One of them stops three points the other could have been taken to the house for 7. Ok, coaches obviously don't have a hand in the physical plays on gameday, but they sure as hell have a mental hand in it. And mental preparation and repetition leads to instinctive play on gameday. Case in point - do you remember Cory Mcknuckleheads personal foul when he shoved the guy 20 yds out of bounds. Sure this is the players fault, but I watched the coaches reaction after he went to the sidelines. NOT ONE COACH SAID WORD 1 TO HIM. Let alone got in his face, waved their arms around etc. C'mon. Is this the type of lessons these kids have been getting in their "half-asspads" practice as well?? That stinks. I think part of Glen's point was that coaching breeds success or failure. Look, these are many of the SAME players that were making BIG time plays last year - They clearly have the physical ability. do you truly think they just got LESS talented in the course of 1 yr? These are 18-23 yr old kids who can get in and out of grooves easily, in all walks of life. It is up to the COACHES to foster their abilities thru repetition in practice, more positive than negative reinforcement (falling on the sword themselves every now & then - see Cally's comments after the Big 12 Champ game, and how the team responded against Auburn) or other forms of motivation. This staff just does NOT seem to have the intangibles to get this done.
  6. I got him covered. Awesome gesture Travis... very cool. The T.O. in all of us is resurfacing!!! I think I'll even recycle next week.
  7. Would one of you CornCoast all-stars be so kind to hook a bro up with some fresh sig-paper? I feel kinda lame being an admin with a 2006 sig. Im thinking something with Osborne on one side and Devaney on the other, and a sweet image of memorial or something else vintage nebraska in the middle. Under Devaney "The Bobfather" and under Osborne "The Mighty Oz" and in the middle "Following the Footsteps T.O. Success" haddict, hguy, benny, thiems or any of the other legends have some time??? big ups
  8. Just perfect. Amazing how something so obviously critical yet so simple couldve been overlooked by the previous dictato.. i mean dic.
  9. Glad you like em ... and thanks for the support! www.huskerts.com
  10. Hahah, irony is ironic. Thanks for the order man.
  11. A couple pretty cool T.O. shirts I just added to the Huskerboard store. Also you'll notice at the bottom a certain shirt that will be debuting in a couple wks... it's a Huskerboard exclusive. hope you guys like em. http://www.huskerboard.com/shirts/
  12. ALTHOUGH IT WAS WORTH THE FIFTEEN BUCKS TO HAVE A PLACE TO CRASH FOR AN HOUR OR TWO. Thanks to all who have ordered passes. My thought with only charging $10 this time was b/c people will only have about 2 hrs before gametime, and during the USC party we had 6+ hrs... so there was a little more BBQ for your buck.

  16. Just wanted to provide some clarification to the newer members, who may be confused about why a post of theirs may seem to disappear. Our mods try to keep the board as organized as possible, and as you've noticed over the past few days, everyone basically wants to talk about the same few topics. So our mods are "merging" topics together, and/or moving them to the appropriate forum. This isn't to say we don't allow multiple threads about the same subject, as long as your context provides a somewhat different slant on things. This isn't personal, it's simply to prevent the board from getting buried with threads about the same subject - we just want to diversify things. So the best tip is to take a quick look around the forum for a title that sounds similar to what you're thinking, and simply post your comments within that thread. Thanks for everyones help. and thanks to our mods for doing a helluva job over the past several days. u rock teh huse.
  17. Discovered this post via a link from a member on here earlier... thought it was worth sharing w/everyone. Its very well thought out and hard to argue with no matter where your allegiance is... and if anyone knows the author, you need to recruit him over here! very talented writer. --------- member: mauxdeverite - from sportsline.com forum Tom Osborne's program at Nebraska was not "one of the best" in the nation. It was the best, period. The talking heads and teleprompter readers love to rattle off names like Michigan, Ohio State, and USC. Looking back at the last quarter of a century, nobody dominated college football like Nebraska. Osborne won three national titles in four seasons, and came within a single play of winning four straight. His Husker dynasty was without peer, and peaked with the absolute annihilation of Florida by a score of 62-14 in the national championship game. It remains the single most lopsided championship game in modern history. That Husker team is arguably the greatest of all time. Of course all the media stooges picked Florida and laughed about how the Gator speed would befuddle those hicks from Nebraska. Yes, speed was the difference in the game. Nebraska showed Florida speed that they could not have imagined. It was Osborne who fathered the concept of moving safeties to linebacker, and linebackers to the defensive line to achieve more team speed on defense. It was Osborne who developed an offensive playbook that dwarfed most of the so called "offensive" schools. Yes, Nebraska ran the ball, but they did it one hundred different ways, from a myriad of formations. The Nebraska running game was a beautiful thing to behold. It was under Osborne that Nebraska pioneered weight training and took it to the highest level possible. Their offensive linemen were magnificent. Many Nebraska players did not fare well in the NFL, in that there was little room for improvement or growth by the time they left. Osborne literally maxed out his players potentials, almost to the level of burnout. They were that good. It was Osborne who had the courage to go for two in a national championship game instead of settling for a tie. Osborne had another national title stolen from him at State College, PA in 1982, when an official connected to the Penn State program allowed a completion to a tight end who was three yards out of bounds. It remains one of the worst calls in history, second only to Colorado's five downs against Missouri. Under Osborne, players learned to tackle properly. His defenses in the mid 90's were suffocating and punishing. Today, no program has fallen further than Nebraska, not even Notre Dame. This program went from being the very best, to among the very worst, all in about five seasons. Bill Callahan was never right for Nebraska, but neither was Frank Solich. The truth is that there is no way to replace Tom Osborne. Nobody else at any other school ever had anything close to what Tom had. Nobody understood how to run the option like Osborne, and option football is what Nebraska is about. The Huskers made their reputation on recruiting a ton of in state players, maximizing their skills, and sprinkling in some skill players from around the nation as needed. This meant they didn't recruit with only a stopwatch. They recruited heart and desire, which offset pure athleticism. Considering their recruiting base, Nebraska isn't geared to be a west coast, passing offense. They had something that was unique, and threw it away to be just another cookie cutter PAC-10 team that can't tackle nor has any stomach for toughness. Nebraska will never reach the level of absolute dominance of the Osborne era ever again. The eighty five man rule changed football forever. We will no longer see one hundred Huskers dressed for a home game like in bygone days. We won't see Nebraska teams with dozens of redshirts and fifth year seniors. Those days are gone. Where do they go from here? Who knows? One thing is certain. Bill Callahan isn't the answer, and has to follow Pederson out the door. Nebraska has lost their identity. Michigan, for all of their failures and ineptitude since 1948, has at least retained their identity as a slow, plodding, predictable team that can't stop a pass. It's who they are. Give them credit for being consistent. Nebraska doesn't have any idea who they are, and their first step is to reconnect with their past, and reclaim their identity. Losing in Lincoln should never happen, ever. Finally, let's set the record straight on Osborne's "criminal" players. The media bashed Nebraska unmercifully for twenty years because they didn't fit their idea of what a college football team should be. They were a fanatical red state. They were conservative. They were disciplined. They were the left's worst nightmare, and nobody wanted them to win. Phillips and Peter became poster children for the media. In all of Osborne's tenure, if a handful of miscreants is all you can come up with, considering the hundreds who have passed through the program, it's pretty frigging good. Meanwhile the media conveniently looked the other way at Florida State, Miami, Tennessee, when they had scores of players outside the law. Yes, the media loved to hate on those crew cut, corn fed Nebraska players, and many still do.
  18. We've had a large # of new members join over the past few days, so 1st I just wanted to apologize to you guys and our long timers about the board problems we've had recently. I can assure you it's being fixed as we speak, and the board will be better than ever before long. So besides the board issues, Im curious to hear what you guys think of our site -- good, bad, whatever - we strongly believe in this being a member-owned site, as many will tell you it's gotten to where it is b/c of the hard work of many people - so we're always open to feedback for improving this place. Welcome aboard, thanks for your contributions, and we hope to see you guys around on a regular basis.
  19. I know it's virtually TOs job if he wants it, but lets still see how many sigs we can get. If you're in support of TO 4 AD, please sign the petition: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/hire-Osborne-for-AD
  20. I'd be ok with that... or Rimington or TO.
  21. Yes feel free to check it out when the site is lagging. We're working to get everything fixed. http://www.huskerboard.com/chat Thanks for the patience.
  22. Sorry for all the probs guys -- we truly are working diligently to get it fixed. But yes until then, feel free to try the chat-room: http://www.huskerboard.com/chat/ Thanks for the patience!
  23. Who knew e-petitions had so much POWER!!! The board of regents must've received the Hireosborne.com shirts I overnighted them on Sat, and received some nice compliments at their Sun brunch so decided to go with it. Now time for my hirepancakebunny4headcoachandBananaLama4DC.com shirts..... its all coming together nicely..
  24. First I should say I can't take credit for that Pederson timeline. I received it via an email fwd so the creator is anonymous until someone steps fwd. And yes, you should take those with a grain - they are obviously slanted towards knocking the Ped down, but afterall the dood makes it pretty easy. 2) If anyone wants to help me put together a short list of tangible reasons why you think TO would make a great AD, I'll list those on the site as well to make it more positive. 3) I hear what you guys are saying about TO not wanting the gig b/c of spending more time with fam etc. - but think about it this way - if he had it his way he would currently still be in politics, which is a lot more demanding than an AD job. Nebraska is his passion & livelihood. If he were asked to help restore something he loves nearly as much as his family, I think he would be all N, with some conditions. One would probably be that he has an associate AD that he grooms for the job, like a couple others suggested. I think he would be all for this approach - it's the best of both worlds - we get TOs knowledge and "iconic figurehead" benefits, and he gets to do something he loves and stay near family. And dont forget he would be following in the footsteps of his mentor, a one BOBFATHER...
  25. **Update --- I realize the job is pretty much Ozzy's if he wants it, but lets still show him how much we support him by signing this petition. I'll still be sending it to Harvey P & Mike Osborne (son) to send to Tom.** http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/hire-Osborne-for-AD --------------------------- Lets help make this a reality. Its the only answer at this point. HireOsborne.com I'm usually not a big fan of "firebomb-everyone-andletgod-sortemout.com" sites --- which is why this site focuses on a positive thing -- hiring TO 4 AD. Steve-o just happens to be caught in the cross-hairs, and afterall he did enlist as the Minister of Information - so he understood the liability. I know TO isn't known for being a big rah-rah guy or a very dynamic speaker, but IMO that isn't necessary to be an effective AD. It simply requires an ethical & savvy person, who commands respect & also connects with "the shareholders" - which in this case are the people of Nebraska. He would instantly inject the Athletic Dept with a new energy & passion, and I can guarantee donations would increase instantly. And if he was able to handle the limelight that comes with being a head coach at NU, at this point in his career I think he would absolutely thrive in a role which is more behind the scenes. Especially with his political background - he could use that experience to help him - b/c everyone knows being an AD involves a large amt of politicking. I also believe he would work to hire the right staff, and not just one that only runs The Option -- whether that involves Coach Callahan or not, I have faith he'd make the right decision. If you feel the same, please take a moment to sign the petition. We WILL be back on top guys. and it will taste sweeter than ever.
