  1. I definitely think Harbaugh will be their top choice... this may also be their year to finally lure another Michigan guy (Les Miles) from LSU, since LSU fans want him gone.
  2. My point is, if you have a top-notch coach, you can lure top 4- and 5-star recruits from no matter where they live.
  3. I can't believe you actually believe that. I wouldn't say that losing 2 or 3 more this season is out of the realm of possibility. NW, PSU, Wisky, and a bowl opponent could all knock us off. I don't expect it, but if we do lose 2 or 3 more it certainly wouldn't surprise me.
  4. I don't buy it. The SEC schools and tOSU lure kids from all over.
  5. As for the "geography" theory, that's just another excuse. You get a coach who top prospects want to play for, and they don't care where it's located, they'll go there. I guarantee there is nothing special about Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
  6. I understand what you are saying but Teach is right. They get thousands of tips about kids all the time and 99% of them don't pan out. Your kid sounds legitimately good I hope they can still get in on him Sadly, probably too late now. Here are his stats, as a sophomore, through 6 games. 110/180 1620 yds. 16 TD/3INT 79 carries/663 yards/7 TD And say what you want, but other teams apparently took the time to check into it... All they would have had to do is watch the tape and they'd have seen.
  7. I'm not someone that is in to gambling for money, but I'll make a friendly bet with you. He will definitely make it to New York. OK, it's a bet... although I'm still willing to bet any other brave fan 100 on it.
  8. I'm going to say this one more time. At the HS where I teach, there's a kid named Lowell Narcisse who is currently a sophomore. He is currently ranked as the #3 dual-threat QB for the 2017 class. About 10 years ago his first cousin, Chad Jasmin, played for us and was the #1 RB in the nation and Nebraska recruited him hard, but he ended up choosing Clemson and eventually played for the Seahawks. Anyway, I've known this kid since 7th grade and since I taught him, he knows all about Nebraska football. My classroom is filled with Nebraska football memorabilia and ever since I've known him I've been drilling Nebraska football into his head. During his 8th grade year his career took off and I knew the kid was going to be something special. I immediately contacted their coaching staff (Aaryn Kearney, to be specific) and told them about him. They asked me to send video, highlights, etc. and I did. Then, last year, he became our varsity starter as a freshman. The prior year we didn't win a single game. With him at the helm -- as a freshman -- we went to the state quarterfinals where we lost by 1 TD to the eventual state champions. Once again, all during his freshman campaign I emailed the staff, sent his stats, highlights, etc. and told them they needed to get on him immediately because he is difference-maker. Once again I was told that they'd "keep and eye out for him" and made no efforts to contact him, none whatsoever. Then, over the summer he attended the LSU and Mississippi State camps, and apparently performed extremely well. Illinois immediately made him a full-ride offer without ever even seeing him play. Les Miles and Frank Wilson from LSU came to our school to check him out. Once again I contacted the staff and asked what was up. I was suddenly told that they were "extremely interested" and would make contact. Unfortunately, by that time every other team in the SEC and elsewhere was extremely interested, too. Finally a couple weeks back he came to me and said, "Hey coach, I finally received something from Nebraska." He sounded really disappointed, especially after everything I'd been telling him about the program. So of course this season, as expected, he's been lighting things up, averaging over 400 all-purpose yards per game. He's scored at least 4 TDs in all six games this season. I basically gave the coaches a goldmine of a present, and they dropped the ball. This is why we can never catch up to the big boys, and never get ahead, because we don't do the little things that other teams are willing to do to give them an edge. I doubt they ever even looked at the film I sent, or any of the other stuff. I'm sure they just brushed it off and waited for the recruiting services to mention his name. It's a damn shame.
  9. Because they're the defending champs, that's why. And until someone can knock them off their throne, they deserve to be there.
  10. Whom are you addressing? I never bashed Bo. All I wondered is why Fyfe went in instead of Stanton. If you're telling me that most college coaches would have Ryker Fyfe ahead of Johnny Stanton on their depth charts, well, that's just plain silly.
  11. I'll put $100 on the line with anyone who says he's going to make it to NY. Any takers?
  12. The writing is on the wall. http://www.sportingnews.com/nfl/story/2014-10-05/nfl-jim-harbaugh-49ers-report-leaving-end-of-season-fox-sunday-jay-glazer
  13. I suggest you scroll back and read the post history -- I don't become defensive until someone lashes out at me first. Telling me that "Alonzo Moore sucks" and to "shut up about Stanton" isn't going to be tolerated by this guy.
  14. Here's a closer look at some of the linemen...
  15. I learned that the vultures were predictably waiting in the weeds through 5 wins to jump on the first loss of the season, regardless of how close of a loss it was. It's like the first five games were against really really bad teams or something. ....or something. Go ahead, fire Pelini. Keep an eye on Ann arbor..... .....you'll look back fondly on the Pelini era. I'm not behind the whole "Fire Pelini" movement, but all I'm saying is, fear of the unknown should not be a reason to retain a coach. Last year when the team was struggling, my Top 3 replacement choices were Chris Petersen, Jim Tressel, and Rich Rodriguez. "Petersen will never leave Boise," they said. "Tressel would never come here," they said. "Rich Rod failed at Michigan," they said. Um, yeah.
  16. Just gotta remain positive, and believe that we can run the table and have a strong showing in the CCG, both of which are reasonable and attainable goals. A lot of football to be played between now and then; we still have a chance at a special season. The game against NW in 2 weeks will be the key game in determining whether this season is going to be a success or a failure.
  17. Well, like I said, if Mississippi State keeps winning, Dak Prescott will undoubtedly be there. It'll be a duel for stats between two top RBs when Nebraska plays Wisconsin.
  18. OK, well scroll up. I received two upvotes on my post regarding abuse of power, so apparently there are at least two other people who agree with my sentiments regarding that.. As for Stanton, my point is that he should be backup, not 3rd string.
  19. Winston has off field issues so he should be a no-show and was banned from one game Mariota is QB on an Oregon team that just lost to an unranked Arizona team Gurley is on a Georgia team with one loss and wins that really aren't that impressive. Hunley just lost to an unranked Utah team Why shouldn't AA still be in the mix? Sorry. I just don't see it happening. Guess we'll see. I think Mariota and Gurley are pretty much guarantees to be there.
  20. Look we lost to a better team. My biggest complaint is with the Oline. Talk about smoke a mirrors. Does MSU have a great D? Absolutely. If I was our oline coaches, Id start making some changes. That was atrocious. The question is, do we have the personnel to MAKE changes? Sadly, those may be the best linemen we have.
  21. A wise man told me, unless you're ranked in the Top 4, rankings don't mean sh#t. All we can hope for at this point is to run the table and win the CCG, both of which I feel are realistic, attainable goals. Lose to Northwestern, and we might as well pack it in.
