  1. Can I be locker buddies with Cy? I ran about 4.7 40 and had 32 inch vertical, could catch. Now Corporate sell out to the man who likes to antagonize Cy with pure positive non-homer fan excitement.
  2. Would not want to disappoint CY. He may hate me, but I love him.
  3. Somehow I really doubt Freeman is better than the greatest QB of all time... Agreed. I loved the rationale --- that Freeman is more "ripped" than Montana. OK, so is Sylvester Stallone --- is Sly somehow then a better QB than Montana too? And that Jordy is bigger, faster, and more ripped than Rice. OK, so too have been 100's of NFL receivers --- and none topped Rice. As it were, Rice is really interesting. On paper --- or looking at his size and speed (or, really lack thereof) one would question whether he'd even be NFL stuff. Yet he was the best. Really amazing when you think about it --- Jerry Rice is the poster child for how measurables (size, 40 yard dash time, etc) are not the measure of the man on the field. There are tons of receivers in the NFL with poor size and speed who are just awesome anyway. Deion Branch comes to mind, as he isn't that quick and is extremely short but he's a super bowl MVP who racks up yards, receptions and TDs year after year. Steve Smith, arguably the best WR in the NFL right now, is fast but he's only 5'8" or something. Cy is always trying to expand things to include all of Kansas. Everyone knows that the "State" schools are the inferior models, don't be trying to distract people with your personal vendetta against my hawks. BTW, am I gonna get a picutre of you in a Jayhawk hat when you lose our bet, or just the apology...
  4. No way! Your spring game is better, maybe the best in the country Will that help with recruiting? Probably, I would think it would.... Here is what I think Bo will want to Discuss in comparing CU and NU... Buffs 65, Huskers 51, game that could have at least got a bowl last year for the Huskers, lost... Spring games are nice, but just like our world class Midnight madness at Kansas, it is just a recruiting edge in the grand scheme of things. I think CU would keep the win, concede the spring game. P.S. Ralphie owned that poor dude.
  5. Nebraska has a great freakin zoo! That is true. The SAC museum is pretty cool too. I am not thinkin many sports fans will be like, I NEED TO GO TO THE ZOO AGAIN, skip the on major sporting event since January (or December, sadly), but one never knows...
  6. Well, hope springs eternal... 7-5 mates, that is where it probably falling, but one never knows...
  7. I can agree with that, nine might be a little bit of a strech. But eight wins is very do-able. Here's an objective viewpoint.... Best case scenario. Could get better if MU, KU or CU suffers any significant injuries: Western Michigan Home Should win 1-0 San Jose State Home Should win 2-0 New Mexico State Home Should win 3-0 Virginia Tech Home Tough loss 3-1 Missouri Home No way 3-2 Texas Tech Road Unlikely 3-3 Iowa State Road Difficult win 4-3 Baylor Home Big win 5-3 Oklahoma Road No way 5-4 Kansas Home Difficult win 6-4 Kansas State Road Difficult win 7-4 Colorado Home Difficult win 8-4 Nebraska has a very favorable schedule this season. Only 4 games outside of Lincoln, most of the toughest in-conference foes are playing in Lincoln (MU, KU, CU). I don't see NU as a very good road team yet, but when you mostly eating home cooking.... if the Huskers get a few breaks, ya never know. I don't think NU will have ANY easy games after October 1, except maybe Baylor... but the way they improved in basketball, you should be very wary. Was the double post for emphasis? Just kidding. Anyway, I agree with most of what you're saying, except Va Tech has already suffered some big injuries and Nebraska is ALWAYS about 10x times better at home than on the road. They have a shot against MU at home so it's not "no way." The Tech and Okie games on the road are very unlikely to win though, I agree. Yeah, how is KU ? MU going from tough win for the Huskers to no way? Mizzou has a better shot maybe, but not THAT much better. PRetty good guess overall, Mizzou, and you are right on Injuries. A KU or MU loss of the the starter puts both programs down, hard to tell how much, but it could be considerable step back for both. KU at least has a better dense, but Mizzou is a little better team overall most likely, but I think someone's rival bias may be coming out a bit...
  8. INITIAL NOTE: Mark MAy is an Asshat, if you find this sort of thought disturbing, do not read on. Not saying we repeat last year, but ask OU about playing CU in Boulder, and not ONE other team beat A&M in college station, so not sure how that is a joke. We played you guys, so for what it is worth.... We also owned a lot of decent teams, and beat Oklahoma State in Stillwater, and they had only 1 other home loss, by 3 points to Texas (we beat em by 13, and it was not that close). MARK MAY backwards is Yam Kram, and I do not know the signifigance of it, but it may be how his brain got installed.... final quick note on your KU hating, I would not rule out Top 10, but I think that would be a very nice accomplishment and do not really expect it. 9-3 and losing a close race in the north to Mizzou is my expectation and should happen. Of course, many of you think KU fans all expect last year, which I only have seen 1 KU fan predict. I not ruling anything out, if things go really well it could be a repeat, but that is not what I see people saying that they expect. So, I am not sure who some of you are arguing with about KU in the national title game, not many people saying that anywhere I read, on this board or elsewhere. Mark May is the devil, except not nearly as smart. As this is the HUSKER board, I think a longer comment on Mark May is due. The guy is an idiot, if he is right about you guys or not. He dogged us all last year, no matter what we did or how well we did it, but that reminds me of a lot of you all , but he is well known for being wrong. He picked against us pretty much every weak, called us fake, said we be exposed... and then said the same thign the next week. You all will almost surely be better than 6-6, but he does not trouble himself with annoying research or looking through your schedule. He just reads some talking points, uses his preconceived ideas, and moves on. That said, the Huskers should be better than 6-6, although new staff can be tough, I think you all will do better than that. Not sure why you are picking on Kirk H... He a good guy and announcer, REPEAT, Mark MAy is an idiot, do not waste your brain cells considering him, it is time you will have stolen from you and you can never get it back...
  9. Cousin...wife. Potato...Potaato..... CY, the Arkansas thread was called something different....
  10. I was suprised by the fact that three different choices got a lot of votes. I see all them involve Nebraska getting better, but I would say that is a decent bet to make, I would. Cy even got his cousin to vote, so that was nice to see.
  11. I see Cy might have voted. I gave him his very own choice for all of the fine writing he does, I figured he earned it.
  12. Sorry, hard to have an answer for every option. I voted Free for all, I think Nebrsksa will be back, MU will stay good (especially next year), KU will stay good (Maybe not 1 loss, but 9-3 is good) and CU will get back and contend too... I think Prince's Juco plan won't work so well and Iowa State, while I like what their program is doing, may get boxed out by circumstances..
  13. If you could add 20,000 seats that sell for even $50 a pop, you gain a $1 Million a game. That about $7 million a year... I would think hat would be self funding, no Pickens needed, so break that ground...
  14. By Trev Alberts, link here... http://www.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/stories/040908aaj.html Is Kansas for real? Can they repeat what they did last season or will it be the same old Kansas? - Eric L., Missouri I don't think Kansas will ever be the "same old Kansas." I just don't. I think Mark Mangino has really changed the culture, changed the expectations there. I think if you watch those kids play now, they expect to win every week. And often times a program that has struggled for so long, that's the biggest hurdle you have to get over. Remember, Kansas was in the conversation at the end of the year for the national championship. Will they sneak up on anybody anymore? No. Everybody knows Kansas is for real. Last year, they worked, they were tough, they paid a price and they were hungry. The interesting thing is how does coach Mangino instill the confidence and hunger from last year. You still have some quality players around. There's talent and they'll continue to upgrade. I wouldn't necessarily pick them to win the Big 12 North, but I think they'll have a great year in 2008.
  15. I agree with the picks, except for the South Florida call. I think KU wins that one. Beating VT in the Orange Bowl should have dispelled the speed thing. And Texas wont shut anyone out this year. South Florida beat West Virginia, Auburn, Pitt and Louisville in 2007. They started 6-0 beating 2 ranked teams (Auburn and WVU). With the exception of their bowl game against Oregon, USF's losses were by a TD or less. They climbed to as high as #2 in the polls last year. Leavitt is a good coach. Don't discount USF. Kansas loses to USF this year. But wait...South Florida might have beaten some ranked teams but Kansas beat....uh...um....Florida International and...uh...Baylor, SE Louisiana and lots of the other college football elites.... And the year before (in 2006), when they went to a bowl and we were 6-6, we beat.... South Florida, and there was no Reesing then and you all are convinced we sucked (almost beat you all as well)
  16. I'm pretty sure theres a kid from my school going on a full ride to play baseball at kansas That kids looks pretty good to me. I think he may be a good ballplayer one day at the college level, but time will tell...
  17. Then why don't you have one? Dr. Tom not want the revenue? I am not trying to be a doubter, but if you would fill it every game with similar prices to now, they should be working on it right now...
  18. **North** Missouri 11-1 Kansas 9-3 Nebraska 7-5 Colorado 5-7 Kansas State 4-8 Iowa State 4-8 **South** Oklahoma 11-1 Texas Tech 10-2 Texas 10-2 Texas A&M 8-4 OK State 6-6 Baylor 1-11 **Big 12 Champ** Mizzou (Saddest prediction I have ever made )
  19. They are 644-439, NU is 817-333 <--- Point Big Red They have 11-22-3 Bowl record, NU is 22-22 <--- Point Big Red THey have won 13 Conf titles (7 outright), and the SEC west 3 times Big Red have 3 WIU, 12 missouri Valley, 29 Big 8 (24 outright), 2 Big 12 titles with 4 times the champs of the North <--- Not even close, point to Big Red Arkansas 1 National Title, NU 5 <---- Point Big Red IN fact, one could argure they were stronger in the 40's, 50's and 60 (se CFBDW), but that leaves 9 other decades in favor of the Huskers (Starting in the 1890s) I have no skin in the game, but it is not even comparable. People need to be ignorant. If one is arguing across the history of the two, there is no comparison. The fact that they would argue that point shows they have no credibility and should be ignored. THere is simply no basis in fact for their opinion... PS, KU is 2-0 life against them, so by their logic, we are better than them, of course 23-88 against the Big Red, so this sort of becomes a problem when this idiotic measure is called on to prove our historic greatness... KU is probably closer to Arkansas in Historic greatness than Arkansas is to Nebraska.... so their argument is very bad.
  20. Seems coaches are treating Kansas B-Ball kind of like a prostitute...use em until you get what you want and then go back home.... Williams goes back to NC Self will be heading back to OK State Next thing you know Bobby Knight will be sitting on the KU sideline, slinging chairs. I'm actually looking forward to that. CY, I am beginning to think your Jayhawk envy is good luck, so keep hatin baby....
  21. Not sure what funny abou an Orange Bowl ring? I am not at all trying to say KU has Nebraska's history, but we do have the same number of BCS wins... I am just hoping we can stay a competitive team and make a few more nice runs in coming years so all ur base will belong to us instead of losing good Kansas prospect every year to teams with bigger "tradition". I know it takes awhile and does not show up on a silver platter, but I do not have to like it...
  22. Yes... Yes you did. I noticed that. We do it in basketball, Iowa probably hates us thoroughly, but he seemed like a good kid and his brother is our 3rd string qb, so I had hoped... Such is life, best wishes to him.
  23. Since you are not using him much, send him back. Sounds like a bunch of the fans up here think the linebackers are no good, so send him back home to us please. He could have an orange bowl ring and we miss him.... I don't blame him for picking Nebraska, that is a quite a cool place to play and all. THe tradition, fans and environement are great. You would have thought the chance to win was there. Callahan was an asshat, so not figuring out that, maybe that is why it was a tough decision for him. Do you guys think he is going to be a factor for you next year?
  24. I went to Mines... Be nice :'( You make the baby Jesus cry with your taunting of my academically minded brethren... Very funny stuff Cy... Do they teach how to drill someone there or what...if so, I would think they would have a lot of good defensive football players or porn stars come out of there.... No, not really, it is full of engineers. I am sure they do discuss drilling, but it is more a place where you go to do hardcore science for people who thought normal science was soft. If you want to be a mining engineer, a petroleum engineer, a geologist or even a normal engineer, it is great. As it is about 85% male, not many porn stars coming out of there. With the nerd quotient a bit high, even gay man would probably find the pickings slim On the other hand, we produced lots of sports all americans of the academic sort.... Our best football player won the d-2 equivalent of the heisman here is the SI article excerpt on him Not too long ago, Chad Friehauf was a very good football player. In 2004, as quarterback for Colorado School of Mines, he set D-II season records for passing yards (4,213) and total offense (4,878) on his way to winning the Harlon Hill Trophy, given to the best D-II football player in the nation. In 2005, Friehauf was signed as a free agent by the Denver Broncos and played in one preseason game before being released. So what's the 6-foot-7 quarterback doing now that he's off the football field? He's back at his old college, on the basketball court. Two years after graduating, Friehauf has returned to Mines to pursue another degree and take full advantage of his remaining three years of basketball eligibility. Lucky guy. He gets to go through college twice, once as a football star and once as a basketball player. I wonder if the cheerleaders still remember him. Mines usually takes 5 years to get an undergrad degree, even for good students. Would not surprise me if he needed 7 years to get through and get a master's degree. Not many other great football players there (by Nebraska Standards, but a lot of Nebraskans go there, 7 on the team) , hard to find a whole team of these guys who can get it done on and off the field, ask MIT and CalTech why they don't even try . They try though, they are decent and under Friehauf they went 12-1, but he was GOOD..... I am afraid the Cyclones could take em.... Just...
  25. 8-4 or better and I'll admit that I was wrong...but I'm never wrong. I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.... Yeah, thats safe. My prediction for KU is 7-5 More like 6-6...unless parity strikes gold for them again.... I got a nebraska cap too I can get you a photo of me in if you are also willing to take the offer I gave Cy then.... I am happy to post about how wrong I am at 6-6 or worse, I am also ready to hear from you if we are 8-4 or better. You will each get your own posts, about how wrong I am if you are right. I would need to have you make your own thread when I win though, it will be double special i'll take that bet, and if you lose can you take a picture of you standing in front of the math wing of the library on the KU campus...aw hell just take a picture of that and the dorm for wealthy babcock(if i remember right the math wing of the library is named of my great aunt and i haven't been to lawrence in 15 years...) THat is a lot of work to o to a certain sit as well. I will wear a ISU or NU hat, with pick and make a post for weach person who wins to say they were right, I was wrong. I just ask for your post in retun, when we win game 8... I hope that suffices, otherwise, if reesing gets hurt and all goes south, I am like the Expedia (or is it Travelocity) gnome or something...
