  1. Good morning! It is a happy Monday, though hopefully not as happy as NEXT Monday, in comparison. Reading the tea leaves, Sipple's latest column is toeing the universities interests in making the case (to the general public) that paying the next coach "in accordance with expectations" is good for the university and the state, as a whole. http://journalstar.com/sports/huskers/sipple/steven-m-sipple-nebraska-should-pay-next-coach-a-salary/article_8149473d-2ae2-58d6-9e82-2e485d7be25f.html It is happening!
  2. I'm sure you are being sarcastic, but it could be a bummer if some of these lower tier schools went after CFU assistants as their HC.
  3. My grandpa always said "Grass don't grow on a busy street" and "God only made so many perfect heads... the rest he covered with hair."
  4. My feeling is that Chip Kelly would prefer UCLA (word is that he wants a west coast job PLUS he understands the lay of the land in the Pac 12). I still feel that Frost and Company are going to be most interested in NU. The only question is what the final numbers will be and the leaked numbers are probably just the Opening Bid.
  5. Florida vetting Chip Kelly over his NCAA recruiting violations. "There are serious concerns". UCLA fires Mora and shows interest in Chip Kelly. Florida: "No concerns!" (Hands Chip Kelly a contract to sign.)
  6. I think it is HARSH, but also pretty darn funny and I have to admire the mind that came up with it.
  7. A clear-eyed analysis of this game says: Penn. St. 63 NU 13.
  8. Box Score of Memphis St. vs SMU today: http://www.espn.com/college-football/boxscore?gameId=400941847 Box Score of UCF vs SMU last weekend: http://www.espn.com/college-football/game?gameId=400941836 Box Score UCF vs Memphis St. from Sept. 30: http://www.espn.com/college-football/game?gameId=400985406 Assuming UCF beats So. Florida on next Friday, the American championship game will be a rematch of UCF vs Memphis St. Next week:
  9. Yes. Frankly there is a huge difference between the professional courtesy shown to a coach who is still employed and one that is so clearly "Dead Man Walking".
  10. I feel that, in the interests of accuracy, a bronze of Jerry Sandusky rogering Joe Paterno's bronze from behind should be added to this installation.
  11. I seriously think that Nebraskans will show more loyalty to a native Nebraskan head coach, that is likable and shows that he knows how to coach. By that I mean: Develop players, motivate them to show up on Game Days, understand clock management, (for example: run the ball when everybody in Memorial Stadium knows that you want to keep the clock moving or force the other side to use time outs), and represent the State of Nebraska well on the sideline and in the recruits living rooms. We know what wandering in the wilderness is about and we've seen what a poorly coached and motivated team looks like. It's not fun to watch. I guarantee you that Scott Frost Husker teams are going to be fun to watch again. May we never feel like we do about our prospects on Game Day again, as we feel today.
  12. Riley is paid by the University of Nebraska through the end of his contract, regardless of whether we hire his replacement before he is told he is fired or not. Moos clearly understands this. Contractually, there is no need to fire him before hiring his replacement.
  13. Veteran Oregon Ducks aren't surprised Scott Frost is now one of the country's most coveted coaches
  14. I was thinking this, as well. From SF's standpoint, more success in this season just makes it easier for him to say he has kept his word: "A lot of coaches are in a hurry to take the next step," Frost says. "I think you get yourself in trouble when you take a step before you're ready or before the time is right. I'm committed to making this place [UCF] a really good football program that can win and win consistently in our league. I'm not planning on looking for a job until we get to that point." (SF in Dec. 2016). Nobody can't say that he hasn't done that already, but going out truly on Top of the conference and ranked (possibly even with a Jan. 1 bowl in his pocket?) would be the icing on his cake and another nice line on his resume. That being said "the time is right" RIGHT NOW for him to take his stated #1 Goal of the NU Head Coaching position. And the longer things go on, the more one gets worried about something coming along that throws a wrench in the proceedings (such as a headline of an unwanted sexual advance from decades ago, etc.). I tend to expect the unexpected and know that college football can often be a game of dirty pool. I'd sign him sooner rather than later, even if it means letting him stay to coach a Jan. 1 bowl game.
  15. Was looking ahead at Friday after Thanksgiving's schedule. Will be nice to be able to see Scott Frost's UCF/So. Fla game on ABC. (That is a sentence I never thought I would write regarding a Husker Game Day.) I thought it was funny, on the graphic attached, that the UCF game has the highest ticket prices (by a long shot). NU/IA is 3rd, in that category. Technically, the Memorial Stadium game is still a sellout (correct?) but I'm a little worried about how full the stands are going to look that day. (First time I can ever remember having that thought run through my mind).
  16. Has this been linked to? Not specifically about Frost, but the process from an insider. "How a *normal* college football coaching hire goes down, explained by an agent" https://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2017/11/16/16648940/how-college-football-coach-hires-work
  17. I should have added "if he said it". I'm not the person who originally put the quote out there. I'm only saying that IF he said it, it doesn't necessarily reflect reality.
  18. Matt Davison is doing his friend a solid when it comes to negotiating a bigger offer, by saying he doesn't think he's coming.
  19. I have not read every post, so apologies if this question has come up before: How do you think a hire of Scott Frost (and Company) would affect this year's recruiting class. Don't you think that almost **anybody** previously looking at Nebraska would see Scott Frost as an even better reason to come here? In other words, would we lose anybody (unless Frost's team didn't think they were a good fit). On the flip side, are there any good recruits that Frost & Co. might convince to leave Florida and come with them from their list of recruits, that were not on Nebraska's radar?
  20. His buyout is also pretty substantial, especially since he signed a big extension this year.
