  1. Great post Krondoggie. Iowa hawkeyes are easily the biggest bandwagoner I have known. I have plenty friends from iowa, who all of a sudden have become huge iowa football fans in the last 3 or 4 years. But could even name you one player off the iowa team from 5 years ago.
  2. There is a big difference in talent and what type of players you need in the big 12 compared to the wac. You have to be able to know what players are big 12 caliber. I'm not talking about the 4 and 5 star guys, but the 2 and 3 star guys. The evaluation of talent in the big 12 is crucial. That is the only thing i would be worried about if i was a CU fan. That hawkins can get the right guys to win at CU not Boise.
  3. The one thing about pedersen is, he better hope callahan is successful, because them two are pretty much linked to each other. I am not really sure pedersen could fire callahan. How would he justify firing callahan since he was the one to fire solich for him. So if the fans are unhappy with the results on the field pedersen would be the first to go. All of his hard work to build nebraska athletics could be enjoyed by a different AD. If you think about it, firing solich was a pretty ballsy move, knowing your job depends on the new coach you hire.
  4. yeah traditon of late counts more than it did 70 years ago. Face it michigan has only one one national title in the last 55 years. and they shared it with a team that would have beat them. considering michigan beat a ryan leaf led wash st. barely and nebraska killed a peyton manning and jamal lewis led tenneessee team. I have always thought that michgan gets the top tradition tag way to easy considering there lack of a national title in the last 50 years compared to nebraska, oklahoma, miami, alabama, penn st, and usc.
  5. i was looking on some michigan football websites and they say that they have won 11 national championship's in football. Come to find out that 8 of the 11 titles were before 1936. Well there was no AP poll or any kind of poll before 1936 so what makes them the national champions in those 8 years? That is so lame and weak to state that you have won 11 titles to make you sound so prestigous and then to find out that 8 of them are not even in the modern era of football. and there has only been one since 1948 and they shared it with nebraska. i am sure nu basketball had some undefeated season when it first started playing way back in the day, like when they played the ymca team of omaha and what not, so why don't we go around and say nu basketball is the 4 time national champions. you get my point.
  6. here is the problem. I cannot state anything without someone making excuses for why nebraska imo is lacking in certain areas. It is always the 2nd year, or the, he does not have his players, excuse from everyone. Wow i'm sure notre dame fans do not say the same thing with a 1ST year coach. the problem I have had with billy c since day one is that he did not, and still may not realize that you run your team with what your personnel is, and not with what you want to implement. a good example is last year when we had a dual threat quarterback and a good running game and he still wanted to throw the ball out of the pocket 40 times a game. That is the difference from the pros to college, you do not have the luxury of free agents so you have to work with what you have. You can't bank on always having the players for your system, the same thing happened to solich, when we lost the good o-linemen and rb's to other schools all of a sudden the option was all of a sudden easy to stop. That is just the nature of college football today you cannot work with a set offensive system anymore. yes, you can count on the players ... it's called recruiting ... it takes time and hard work and salesmanship ... that's why FS failed ... that's why BC will succeed ... CFB is easier, at a school like nebraska, to consistently excel than pro football ... while there is much more parity lately, it pales in comparison to the NFL which is steeped in it .... is designed for it ... CFB has built in advantages for teams to stay on top ... you can't force the best players to go to the worst teams to even it up ... and the best players want to play for the best teams ... it's a good ol' boy society ... formerfan, free not to read your rantings .... considering you annoy so many, why not take one for the team and just quit ranting? or is this the only attention you get? ok, then i guess we can listen to you since no one else will ... sorry you are wrong, you can not count on recruiting to implement a system anymore. just ask tennessee fans who have no good qb but wanted to throw the ball 30 times a game. Oklahoma a few years ago with white and heupel was predomintatly a passing team, but now with a new qb and Adrian petersen, now or more of a running team. Like I said you cannot implement a specific offensive sytmem in division one anymore, there is to much parity you have to go with what works, callahan at time(especially last year) tends to be unwilling to do so.

  8. if NU fires the coaches it would take about 10 years to recover - SUPPORT THIS TEAM All these fans whining sound like those bitches on the colorado message board - It's gonna happen - Fans like you are the reason I don't even go to the watch sites in california - as soon as something goes wrong they ALL START POUTING - makes me wanna slap the sh#t out of them. SUPPORT THIS TEAM AND STAFF!!!!!!!!!! edited by DaveH for ridiculous name calling. Read what rawhide wrote. Also, read the board rules settle down a little will ya. I am just not sold yet that callahan and staff will get us back to prominece, I am willing to give a chance but, there are some definite question marks that have occured this year, such as the running game and pitiful performances against kansas and missouri, just do not expect me to do a 180 and tottaly support billy c after one nice win.
  9. my predicitons rose-texas vs usc cotton- texas tech vs alabama holiday- oklahoma vs oregon alamo- nebraska vs iowa ind.- colorado vs south carolina houston- isu vs tcu champs- missouri vs clemson fort worth- kansas vs tulsa
  10. I am still not convinced billy c is the right guy for the job. Face the facts, when your biggest win in two years is against a unranked colorado team that is 7-4 you can understand why is am still not sold yet. Start beating some ranked opponents to earn my respect.
  11. I know it is early but what are everyones opinions on how NU will do next year. I got a bad feeling it may not be good. This year I think we benefited from having an easy schedule, it looks like next year good be difficult, at ISU, at USC, at A&m, oklahoma st. will be better(just look at what they did to texas tech saturday), texas will still be talented. Pedersen better get some cupcakes for the non conference schedule so we can get to a bowl.
  12. do all the asst. coaches come back next year? I hope we get rid of elmassion, the db's have underacheived imo. Especially last year when we had j. bullocks and fabian washington, and ended up at the bottom of the big 12 in pass defense. Randy jordan might also be a possibility, ross had a worse year then last and lucky has not progressed much this year, i think. Wagner also may be in trouble, but i do not think it is entirely all his fault that the o-line play has been poor this year, we just don't have the talent and depth there right now, and I was suprised at how well the two frosh tackles played vs ksu.
  13. list your bowl projections for the big 12, here is mine Rose-texas vs usc cotton-oklahoma vs auburn holiday- colorado vs ucla alamo- texas tech vs minnesota independence- iowa st. vs tennessee champs sport- nebraska vs virginia houston- missouri vs southern miss I think there will only be 7 teams bowl eligible, a&m and kansas will proably lose and not become eligble
  14. Im with you. I know there won't be any one getting fired right after the game if they lose, but I will just be so pissed if the lose it would be the only thing to calm me down.
  15. If nebraska loses to ksu this saturday and when they lose to colorado(sorry they aint winning at cu this year). That would put them in last place in the big 12 north and 1-4 verses big 12 north opponents. This saturday is easily the most important game in callahans and pedersens tenure. Because there is no excuse to finish last place in the big 12 north, and if they lose someone better get fired, I don't care who, just someone, and I better hear about the firing when I am driving home after the game on the radio.
