former------does NU lead the nation in sacks? has NU topped the punt return yardage from last year? has the passing game improved? have we won more games than last year? did TT beat us 70-10 this year? did OU beat us 30-3 this year? did we beat KSU this year? are we bowl eligible? will we have a losing record this year? we lost to KU and Mizzu....teams that we did beat last year. our run game is worse this year. as i see it we improved 9 different ways from last year against 3 steps backward. that has to be progress. has this team better than last year? you have to say yes. will we be better next year? i dont know, only time will tell. and in the end if you still do not see progress this year then we can just agree to disagree.

first of all, the big twelve shares all of the bowl proceeds with all 12 teams. so when texas goes to the rose bowl and the pay out is 15-20 million guess what they get the same amount that baylor gets. the cost of the trip to the bowl game gets subtracted from the pay out and any left over gets divided equally. the year that notre dame denied a bowl request was because that it was a lower tier bowl game that the pay out was not going to be enough to cover the teams expenses. notre dame is an independent which means the proceeds or losses from a bowl game are thier shoulders allow not divided between 10-11 other teams. now if NU was an independent and the university was going to loose money then there is an argument for not going to a game. but when you are rebuilding a program and you can offset the cost with the bowl earnings from other schools then you have to reward your seniors and get the practice time for the younger players. even if we play a school that is better than us who cares. it is the experience that is important. who would you want to play in a bowl game Akron, how would that help you judge the ability of your team. how many schools turned down invites because they were going to play nebraska when we were on top? a bowl game win or lose will do nothing but help the program.

this offensive line is missing 5 players that were on the 2 deep last year. brandon k, and kurt m are the only returning starters. and i am not counting herian or incognito. i know incognito did not play last year but he would have been a definate plus for the line last year and this year. you add those guys in the mix and our running game this year is alot better. which inturn opens up the passing game more. how can you say that the defense has not improved this year????? dont they lead the nation in sacks, and have they not stopped the other teams enough this year for 6 wins????? dude put down the pipe cause crack kills.

When Devaney came in he went what 8-2 or 7-3 his first year, then went 6-4 his next year. He did not start the 9 win season streak until his 3 or 4th year. Right? People back then, up until he played for and won the NC, didnt like him and wanted him to be fired. People even wanted T.O. gone because he couldnt win the big game. He interview for the CU job in what 1978 and was offered the Huston Oiler job a few years later. It took Bob D. 7 years to win the NC, Tom O. took 20 years, Solich none. Yes he led the team to the NC game against Miami even though NU did not go to the Big 12 Championship, and got spanked by CU.....remember 62 to ????. No one believed that NU should have been in that game. Now we have a coach and guess what. Some people are not happy with Callahan. WOW imagine that. Yes Stoops is a snake, and the way they treated dillard after he had committed to NU it would not have suprized me at all. sorry i had forgotten that all together, i am glad now that Josh didnt go on the trip. To bad we dont play them again next year.

I thought that it was just a matter of time before Bowman got the starting position. All he needed to do was to get used to the speed of Div 1 football compared to JUCO. Green has not played defense since high school and just moved to corner this year. He still has a lot to learn but he will be an excellent DB in the coming years. Just needs a little more time.

If Coz stays away from the 3 man front I think Carricker, Moore, Adams, Smith, Turner, et al should get to Klatt and rattle his cage hopefully alot. I dont think that he can run like Smith and Aldridge so i dont think we have to worry about the QB keeper or QB draw but he does throw the ball alot better then Aldredge did against us. Lets just hope the defense comes out ready to play and shuts them down. 3 and out on the 1st series. GBR

Chicago---I agree with you completely. Anyone that cant see progress on this team isnt really looking at the team anyway. They are just looking at the W's and the L's. No on the record aspect there has not been alot of progress this year. BUT NU will have at least this year a non-losing season if we drop both the CU game and Bowl game. No we are not going BCS Bowling this year But the team will get 3-4 more weeks of practices this year were some teams will not like KSU, OSU, Baylor and maybe KU and Tex AM. (not sure of there records). That can only help the team for next year and that has to be considered improvement.

Yes his mother confirmed that on Sunday or Monday. She said that they told OU officals that Josh was committed to NU and that he was enrolling in January but if they wanted to waste their money and fly them down there so Josh could watch a game then go ahead. Josh decided not to attend the game because he didnt want any of the coaching staff to get the wrong signal from it. Hey if I am a high school senior and colleges all over the country want to fly me in after I have decided to go to a different school I would do it. That is just 1 less Official visit for that school and might hurt thier recruiting. Anything to get the edge on the compitition.

being patient is a virtue. how many new recruits will play next year? this is a work in progress and will take a little more time. next year will be better and next year better again. how much better? i dont know. 1 game a year maybe but we have to play the games. experience makes better teams and players. gbr

i would really love to see the look on adam carricker, jay moore, le kevin smith, or titus adam's face when you tell them that they dont deserve to go to a bowl. the team played the schedule that was given to them and have become bowl eligible. now that they have gotten the 6th win they will be more relaxed and will come out with their A game against CU. i dont know if it will be enough to win but i think that it will be a good game. even if it is the blue field bowl in idaho 4 more weeks of practices. it cant do anything but help the program in the future. quit complaining and start cheering for the huskers gbr

we cant blame those losses on smith and nunn. yes the fumbles that happened sure happened at a bad time in the game. there were plenty of other things during those games that you could throw the blame on. the tt game was lost when coz went to a 3 man front and and played not to lose and that is exactly what happened. with no pressure on the qb he had enough time to make the throws that brought them to the winning touchdown. that is my opinion for what it is worth.

You can argue this point both ways. Even though Dailey was a Soph how much playing time did he actually get behind Lord? So actually he was a freshman option quarterback trying to learn the WCO. Would he do any better this year. I think he would have but we will never know now. One of the other posts said that Dailey has not been lighting it up out in North Carolina. Well that is because he has red shirted and is sitting out this season. I dont want to sound like I am a Dailey supporter and think that he was run out of NU, he could have been a good option quarter back, but not in this system. He would have been better this year than last but he would not have been better then Taylor. By burning Becks redshirt barring injury this should be the Qb rotation for the next few years. Next Year 1 Taylor 2 Beck 3 Ganz Freeman RS 07 & 08 1 Beck 2 Freeman next qb stud recruit RS I was not real happy about burning the red shirt saturday but had this explained to me and now it makes sense. Couldn't see jack unless I was standing on my chair to look at the Big Screen but it was awesome. Yes the game had it bad points but right now a win is a win and I will take it. During the game Beck and Ganz were sitting on the table where the red phone is that Zac would talk to who ever is on the other end, probably Norvell, and one of the female soldiers gave them her email address. Niether was really into the game while the defense was on the field until one of the coaches came over and to get their "F---ing heads into the game". Not 10 minutes later is when Taylor gets hurt. I thought it was pretty funny at first but then started thinking what would have happened if that coach had not come over there. Beau Davis???? Jordan Adams???? Scary thought. Back to Taylors mom, she invited me to go stand outside of the locker room and wait for Zac, because he always comes out and talks to everyone. Great family, Great upbringing even from people from Oklahoma. I am still amazed

After the game I was standing by the fence behind the players next to a very nice lady who was waiting for her son to come over. I asked who her son was and she said Zac Taylor. I told her that Zac has a million fans in this state and we were all hoping that he was o.k. I asked her what happened and she said that he had a concussion. Zac came over and hugged his mom and told her that he was ok, it was a special moment between mother and son, I could not interupt. After he was done I tapped Zac on the shoulder and told him to get well soon, and he looked at me and said thanks. His eyes were a little glassey as you could see during the interview in the locker room, but he seemed fine. I read in the paper that his father was quoted saying that their family had dinner after the game and breakfast sunday morning and he was doing fine. I do believe that Zac's parents are a true class act. I think Zac will start against CU and will have his best game to date. I hope Coz does not ruin it by over planning the defensive scheme and the Blackshirts get after it and shut down Klatt GBR
