There were several periods in the game when playcalling was excellent! But there were a couple real bonehead series too. Almost had another case of saving the time for Minnesota. Three incompletes in the 4th when we could have run another couple minutes off. Yes, we needed a first down but throw complete passes (short ones please!) to work like the run plays.

Yes, I agree with your sentiments Redux! I felt this game was the critical 'watershed' game of the season. If we blew this one, we had to punt the rest of them and play the young guys for experience, etc. Now, we can play next week. Assuming we play our very best game, we can win that one as well. Suddenly we are back to even and still have some hopes for a 'winning' season record and maybe a bowl game near Christmas time in a warm place. That gives us a bunch more practice time and the chance to build for the future. We also can keep the recruits and fish for a few more. The future can be quickly restored and optimism flows from there. But, there remains many very tough games left. Wins are going to be hard to come by - but this team did not fold and remained confident enough and played with more focus and effort than we have seen really. We didn't have a total 'waste' of a quarter of the game today. A couple 5 minute spells were crappy but we are shortening those spells. A good sign. If we can play 4 quarters complete next week, we have a chance to finish the season on a very positive note and with some momentum for 2016. We can avoid a blow out and finish just about 15 points from being undefeated on the score board. Now we all know we have a LONG way to go to get to where we want to go, but I think the kids will get more faith that Riley can get it done. We MUST make dramatic improvement in pass defense immediately. We need a dime package or something. Maybe play a couple LBs on the DE spots and play our fastest DTs up front and bring more safeties out there. We must get better coverage of the 10 or `15 yard passes.

Michigan State might pull it out.

Connor Cook is going to throw for 600 on us Michigan held opponents scoreless for 11 consecutive quarters, and Cook is 16/32 for 296 yards. Cook may get 3000 yards against us. Not a typo three thousand, not three hundred I am going to be interested to see how good that Mechicken defense is next year as they are starting 8 Sr's this year. With Banker I am happy when we hold an opponent scoreless for 11 consecutive plays. Yes, any time we get a defensive stop or even hold the opponent to just a longer field goal, it is like winning a game almost. So sad but really it is almost a miracle when we get a defensive stop (3 & out).

Wow! Even on the 'clincher' pick 6, we almost blew it. Had a block in the back on the play. guess we would have retained the ball but still had to run the clock out.

LOL riley should try the onside kick! Nobody would look for that. That would ice the game if we got it and we wouldn't have to suffer through about eight more 'hail mary' throws, and three pass interference first downs and a 50 yard TD play. Or, god forbid.

You kick the field goal in order to keep possession by getting the onside kick. they only need a couple TDs to win without any two point conversion.

Just mind boggling. If we had 15 DBs out there, they would still complete 80% !

If we give up a score on this drive, I am afraid for the lives of the coaches upon returning to Lincoln (if they do return!). It is just incredible - the worst pass defense even when we know what they want to do. We almost gave up a 70 yard run because we are so focused on the pass and still we all know we won't stop a pass completion.

Now we can throw on first down if he wants to. Play action would work well. but not deep.

Here we go folks! Take an extra heart pill and perhaps go outside and watch the cars go by and listen to some soothing music. You might just live to next week! Do you really think we will run the ball and try to use clock or throw about 6 or 8 incomplete passes and take a couple sacks along with two short punts in the remaining time as they come roaring back and win on the final play! LOL

This just makes me sick. Every time we start to do something a little better, then we do this. Ugly drive. This game is not over guys. We have a nation leading ability to let the other team win despite all odds!

Well, this is one of the best teams we have played this year and we are actually playing well on about 4 out of every 5 plays now! We have played two good quarters and one mediocre. We need to dominate the 4th quarter as well. No mercy, no let up!

Yup! "Finish 'em!" Now. No mercy. Stomp on their throats. Sack and intercept now!

We have played like this before in prior games and turn around and lay a big fat turd so let's don't mention a bowl game until we are out of the toilet bowl!

Another crappy special teams play. We have to get the guts to field punts. Beautiful weather. No excuses. Just wanted to run the clock out. So why hand the ball off on the last play of the half. Take a knee! Risk a fumble when you have no (zer0) interest in trying to move the ball down field. It was obvious. If you had any hopes, run something that has a good chance of breaking for some good yards and then out of bounds. or JUST DOWN THE BALL. They told DPE to let it go and avoid a turnover then risked a fumble inside our own ten. ?

Do you guys think the coaches are realizing what everybody has been saying about using the running game more ? this is so much more like what we have been saying. Far from perfect but getting better! Play calling up to a B- / B+ or so. Couple bum series but much better. Like the run calls mostly. dump the jet sweep - it didn 't work there. There may be times but it is not a fundamental or regular run. Change up at the right times only.

We have to be very careful here on offense. Dont' get cute and throw a pick or something as you give Minne a chance to take the lead. We have 'won' the first half but could easily give this game away again!

We are making Minnesota's crappy offense look good. Gonna get school records. As I said. How can we just be so lost?

Sad. They just chewed us up. Our defense was rested and should have been ready. Nowhere to be found. Come on guys! Get your heads in the game.

Minnesota with the worst passing offense in the country is gutting us in the passing game! LOL
