  1. Love listening to coaching greats talk about things they look for besides the tangibles. Not to harp on this too much but I think we've really started to see a cultural shift on this Husker team under Coach Riley and Geno touches on the importance of buying in together and maintaining positive body language in the below clip. Definitely worth a listen and something to keep an eye on as we bring in kids for the spring game and beyond in the recruiting world, and a lesson for those as to why some kids even despite having all the talent in the world, never achieve the level of successes they should:
  2. its completely fair to take shots at the team you like when they seem committed to running a JV organization like this AD seems to be doing in regards to Nebrasketball. Illinois just hired Brad Underwood today, would you rather have him or Tim Miles leading this team into next year?
  3. thank God we didn't fire Miles, remember the exodus of transfers we were going to face if we fired him?
  4. >> Running back Mikale Wilbon is making a move, according to running backs coach Reggie Davis. “He’s been most focused that I’ve seen him,” Davis said. “He has the least amount of mental errors of anyone in our room.” That’s good news to folks who have liked watching Wilbon run in practice. “You see all the stuff you knew he had,” Davis said. “You’re seeing the quickness, you’re seeing the speed, you’re seeing his ability to even pick up guys in protection and block.” http://www.omaha.com/huskers/practice-report-march-on-final-practice-before-spring-break-dbs/article_f800191e-0aa5-11e7-80f2-07aa554e2d6d.html
  5. Take out McVeigh's first 5 games of the season and he is a 40% shooter from downtown. Take away his first 5 games and he's 36/110 = 32.7% don't let facts get in the way of yet another mindless inaccurate tangent Matty. Love watching this happen.
  6. I posted this in the Daum thread but based off of this I don't know that I would classify anyone on this team as a "sniper" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- McVeigh, Jack: 71-192 (37%) from the field, 45-135 (33.3%) from 3 Horne, Jeriah: 46-112 (41.1%) from the field, 21-63 (33.3%) from 3 Roby, Isaiah: 37-91 (40.7%) from the field, 4-19 (21.1%) from 3 Gill, Anton: 16-59 (27.1%) from the field, 8-29 (27.6%) from 3 Taylor, Evan: 58-144 (40.3%) from the field, 4-22 (18.2%) from 3 Jacobson, Michael: 70-178 (39.3%) from the field, 4-23 (17.4%) from 3 http://www.huskers.c...ID=100#TEAM.OCF There is no doubt that offensively, Nebraska is about as effective as a sack of pubic hair laying at midcourt. I mean the fact that our starting Power Forward shoots 39.3% from the floor should probably tell you everything you need to know about how terrible Nebraska is at scoring the basketball. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Amazes me we let Evan Taylor even sniff the floor shooting that poorly from 3 as a 2 guard.
  7. this obviously all sounds great and everything but I don't really pay much attention to this. Bob is absolutely masterful with his words, could sell ice to eskimos at 5x face value. The one thing I will listen to him on is when he praises a player. At UConn he continuously offered the highest of praise for Byron Jones, calling him the best CB in the country and Obi Melifonwu, calling him the "best and most athletic safety he's ever coached". BJ ended up being a first rounder and starts for the Cowboys and Obi just absolutely tore up the combine. Bob also heaped praise on our #1 corner Jamar Summers who is an absolute beast. A lot of this other talk is just Bob being Bob but if he singles out individuals as having elite talent or skills then listen to him because he isn't just juicing the guys up for no reason.
  8. In all seriousness the fact that Horne didn't get more minutes and had a much stricter leash than McVeigh is a travesty. McVeigh is a defensive liability and during various game threads I repeatedly pointed this out. I also would've rather had Horne at the 3 than any minutes from Evan Taylor at the 3. Taylor brings NOTHING offensively that scares anyone. Driving midrange pull up from the elbow. Thats it. Horne had a much higher ceiling than both these kids. You can't use "youth" as an excuse when you're playing the wrong guys. Best of luck to Jeriah.
  9. especially with guys who can do the thing we lack the most on this team- SHOOT THE BASKETBALL Also doesn't help that we don't run an offense. Our lack of ball movement and lack of floor spacing is hilarious most of the time
  10. https://nebraska.rivals.com/news/freshman-guard-horne-to-transfer-from-nebraska "After junior forward Nick Fuller announced he was leaving on Sunday night, freshman guard Jeriah Horne has asked for his scholarship release and will look for a new school next season, per Rivals.com national basketball recruiting analyst Eric Bossi. Horne played in 29 games this season but averaged just 4.3 points and 1.9 rebounds while playing only 11.8 minutes per game. A former three-star Rivals150 recruit out of Overland Park, Kan., Horne’s playing time was certainly off and on all year long. He had some major bright spots and scored in double figures five times in 2016-17, including leading NU with 18 points in 18 minutes of action in a win over Southern. Maybe his best game as a Husker came in the upset over No. 20 Purdue, when he dropped 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting and hauled in a season-high seven rebounds in 24 minutes."
  11. been mentioned in other threads but probably deserves its own. Best of luck, Jeriah:
  12. sounds like this kid might want to become a little more familiar with UAB
  13. we have a ton of Nebraska kids on the roster they're just walk ons and we have recruited higher rated talent than them. Someone from the OWH pointed this out the other day and I think its true- just like Wisconsin has had success with WI walk-ons taking over spots in the ILB/OLB roles of their 3-4 I think you will see more Nebraska kids thrive in this defensive system based off what the players are asked to do. Chris Webber is a pure 3-4 ILB as an example.
  14. if Olaijah is coming to the game that is MAJOR. Guy is a serious serious talent.
  15. In all honesty I'm more worried about Temple than Rutgers. Think he's ours if we want him if not I think he'll wind up at TU
  16. 7:30 CT on ESPNU. No chance because we are under .500 which is a requirement for the NIT. Could accept CIT or CBI
