  1. Win meaningful games in the big 10 and that's how to change national perception. Right now, the nation saw you get curbstomped on both sides of the ball by Iowa, who you seemingly see as beneath you. That's a losing attitude. Iowa doesn't see Nebraska as a rival as much as Wisconsin. You are more of a beatable equal. I would give your coach a chance to recruit and develop. Run back to the big 12 and there will be an impact on national perception all right.
  2. The resources are there. There's no quick fix in the big 10. Humility, patience and hard work but also a coach who a potential recruit believes will still be there the end of his senior year. You fire this development oriented coach and you can count on being rivals with Purdue and Indiana, not Iowa and never Ohio state.
  3. Imho...you lost because your program is built around a few select star players. Iowa played you with our own banged up QB wearing a damn keg under his jersey and without our best receiver. We max out our 2 star utility players on both sides of the ball and your coach hasn't had time to do it yet. We r predictable. Riley doesn't have to be. That might be your key to a conference championship someday. Calling your Iowa loss unacceptable is an entitled losing attitude that I guarantee Michigan didn't adopt and you are no Michigan...yet. Was this not a good season for you?
  4. If you're embarrassed losing to Ohio state and Iowa and looking for a regime change to hurry up and be a national title contender you're screwed. Iowa maxes out our 2-3 star recruits on both sides of the ball but we are WAY to predictable. Ohio state follows a similar pattern with 4 stars recruits they get due to winning for so long and Meyer of course. You'll never get there in the big10 firing coaches and trying to build a hurry up dynasty around a couple high end recruits. I thought you had a good season? Don't pretend you're an Ohio state or Michigan - get behind your mid level blue collar kids through consistent development. Then maybe you'll have something. Your players were gassed in the 4th and I'm not sure why but maybe a better S.T. coach. Riley is a good coach. Probably has more trickeration than Ferentz too. Don't can the guy based on some delusion that's unearned AT THIS point.
  5. Iowa doesn't recruit well from the perspective of getting 4 star players and we never have. We develop middling recruits very well and many will go on to utility positions in the NFL. That's it. Not sexy. Wiscy is similar though their talent level is higher as of late. You have enough resources to recruit local kids from the tri-state area who would be thrilled to play for Nebby but most weren't alive in 95 or believe the Huskers are a blue blood program because those days are over. Build a solid line through development, hook a decent QB that is ok with screen passes or TE patterns rather than a 4 star heaver who only throws 40 yard bombs like BYU used to do. You got owned by us I believe because of our consistency and we max out our middling recruits on both sides of the ball. I think Nebraska builds it's program focusing around its higher end recruits. Ohio state trains for teams like that and imho, it's why you got destroyed. Maxing out motivated kids talents works. Iowa gets too predictable however and it leads to losses like ndsu. You have a good coach, some solid players and an opportunity to develop what you have. If he uses a program akin to Iowa and Wiscy and the balls to mix in pass patterns which we don't, that's a good recipe for dominance. Pining for what was and hurrying to make it happen is a recipe for disaster.
  6. Iowa is now tied with us 3-3 since we joined the conference, but their margin of victory is much higher than ours. It would be like... really nice, if Nebraska fans could actually swallow some humility and stop with the arrogant sh#t-talking of Iowa's program as some inferior little brother. We're living in the present, and Iowa is currently just as good if not better. Sucks to admit, but f'ing deal with it. We aren't anything scary or special. I'm an Iowa fan and I remember when the Huskers were special. They recruited a couple guys off my hs squad from nw Iowa so I followed them for a bit. That was a long time ago. I think it would help fans to not focus on where you "should" be but where you are and build from there. Getting a decent quarterback but focusing on building a stellar o-line and linebackers would be a good start. That does wonders in the BIG10. I saw a good receiver Corp too from you. An outstanding QB only goes so far.
