  1. I don't know that Clouse is a super reliable source as of late. The vibe I took from Darnay's interviews lately is that he's putting us in consideration out of respect for how much/hard we've recruited him. I'd guess OSU or UCLA based off of everything. Hope I'm wrong, just doubt it.
  2. The consensus seems to be we get Calvin and I'd agree with that. I think Sarell might be our second best shot because he's been so quiet it's hard to really know where he's at, but what little he has said has been fairly encouraging. I don't think we get him, but I think he's the second best shot. Filiaga seems a hard Michigan lean. Holmes I'm just not sold on, I haven't seen anything solid to make me think we have a shot over OSU and UCLA. I really hope you guys with "inside sources" are right, I'm just not going to get my hopes up. Now if you can get Big Ern to say something like that, then we're cooking with gas. Overall, I think landing two on Saturday would be a huge success. Could be lessened if we don't get Lewis and Johnson on NSD.
  3. I think it has to do with the fact that Langsdorf (and even Riley) don't want to run the ball. The attitude and willingness to run the ball effectively comes from the top, and I don't see it from the guys designing the offense and calling the plays. I don't think it's that they purposely sabotage the run game because they secretly want to pass more, we just seem to bang our heads against a wall running into the same hole over and over again and we're behind so much by then that we're forced to pass. I've usually defended this staff, but our offensive strategy is pretty perplexing. Outside runs have always worked better for us this year, but it seems like every game it takes our play callers 3 quarters to figure that out.
  4. Isn't it a good thing that he at least recognizes the problem? You're right that it's kind of a no brainer, but at least he acknowledged it instead of saying some tired old line. The first step in solving a problem is identifying it.
  5. I like the emphasis on recruiting. Good to know the AD recognizes the importance of bringing in top talent. I wonder if he had a role in bringing D Williams in.
  6. I hope Wilbon gets some carries, I still think he's under-utilized running the ball. Look at what the bowl game last year did for Oz, would love for that to happen again for one of our backs and we should be able to run the ball against this D.
  7. I think it's a realistic expectation to win all of the games you should win (Purdue, Illinois, etc.) and then not get blown out on national television. I think a lot of people would be muuuch happier with this season if we didn't lose to Iowa and OSU the way we did. Nobody was that upset about the Wisconsin game, it was disappointing for sure, but at least a tough game. But losing in humiliating fashion on national tv has defined Nebraska football for a while now. I don't think we get over the hump until we stop that trend, nobody takes us seriously anymore because we get embarrassed on the big stage almost every year. Beat the bottom teams and play the top teams close, especially on prime time television. I don't think that's an unreasonable or inflated expectation for Nebraska football. If we had the same record and lose to Iowa by less than 7 and to OSU by less than 15, I think people would have a different view on this season. I would anyways.
  8. You guys are right but I didn't expect that in year 2. Did you? I did not, but I'm not sure it's a good thing that everybody's bar was so low that another 9-3 season is exceeding expectations. Who has said that? Based on the reality of the situation I think he met, but didn't exceed expectations this year. If we have the exact same season next year, then I think we may be in 9 win Bo purgatory again. I did not, but I'm not sure it's a good thing that everybody's bar was so low that another 9-3 season is exceeding meeting expectations. Fixed. Who is saying that?

  10. Top 4 at his position?! Graham, Holmes, Lewis, Sarrel, Johnson are all top 4 at their positions. 3 out of 5 ain't bad.

  12. I don't think anybody has seriously argued that he's not an awesome person. He was brought in to win a big ten title, and I don't really see us being any closer to that goal than before he was hired. I'm not saying fire him, he deserves a few more years, but time will tell the quality of the hire. I'm fairly happy with how he's handled his staff, but we'll see how this recruiting cycle closes because he's going to need some of these big names to get through that 2018 schedule successfully imho. Let's be real though, we just went 9-3 again and got blown out twice in conference play, let's not act like we've had this drastic improvement. Hopefully getting more of "his" guys in the program helps the psyche and performance of this team, we shall see.
  13. I'm not holding my breathe on this one. An Arizona insider doesn't inspire much confidence in me, especially since there's been no actual news other than that regarding Carr and Nebraska. Seems like a lot of speculation. I'm totally for the staff going after the flip, I don't think RB is a huge need in this class and we might as well swing for the fences.
  14. I think it was pretty clear that Iowa's fronts were more talented than ours, and I don't think there's this huge talent gap between us and Iowa. The only real position group I see that we were clearly more talented was WR, the rest I'd say Iowa probably has the advantage (DB's might be a toss up). Ohio State obviously blew us out of the stadium, the talent gap was overwhelming. So yeah, the talent level of Nebraska is a problem, especially up front. Not to minimize the importance of coaching, but imho good talent usually leads to good coaching, or at least the appearance of it.
  15. Talent. Coaching played its part, but talent covers up poor coaching (see Mack Brown).
  16. Clouse tends to make it a bigger deal than it is. Which his job is to sell subscriptions so good for him, he appears to be successful in the business. Seems this way to me. I feel like we would have heard something by now if it was as legit as he makes it sound. I'm much more optimistic on the other 4 star DB targets in SoCal.
