  1. More on the ESPN cancellations. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/30197592/espn-scraps-plans-host-8-men-college-basketball-events-orlando-bubble
  2. More details on the blanket waiver https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/30175821/ncaa-grants-blanket-waiver-men-basketball-multi-team-events
  3. Watched part of the first half & it reminded me why I don't watch high school hoops.
  4. Nice interview with Trey McGowens in the OWH - not behind paywall. https://omaha.com/sports/huskers/mens-basketball/trey-mcgowens-wont-have-to-wait-to-show-his-talent-expects-really-good-year-for/article_8c83b619-bbee-5c56-b99b-b999c34275ca.html
  5. Penn State Nittany Lions men's basketball coach Pat Chambers resigns after internal investigation https://es.pn/37v5Ow0 via @ESPN App http://espn.com/app
  6. Agreed - I just thought one or two might put them a little higher.
  7. It doesn't appear the the CBS Sports team has much confidence in the Huskers. No one picked them above 13th. https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/big-ten-expert-picks-2020-21-preview-illinois-predicted-to-edge-iowa-and-luka-garza-for-conference-title/
  8. Wonder if coach Wade will make him a "strong a$$" offer.
  9. I think I saw somewhere that Indiana was trying to set one up - it would likely only be 8 teams. I know Louisville & Kentucky are each setting up something. K-State set up a 4 team tournament. There have been rumors of various schools trying to set up something to cut travel and/or reduce covid exposure. It sounds like the one Nebraska is trying to set up is more teams than most & less expensive to enter.
  10. I'm always excited for basketball season to start.
  11. Ultimately the B1G can decide to play conference only games which would scuttle this tournament and any other Non-con games.
  12. Oops - yes, this week... I suspect they know who they will be playing for the first game, but haven't released the bracket/brackets for the tournament. I wouldn't be surprised if they start the season with Cleveland State since they are rumored to be in the tournament and were supposed to be the first team they played before the season was adjusted.
  13. No updated schedule has been released yet. The NCAA has said basketball won't start until 11/25 (day before Thanksgiving) and teams can only play 27 games (instead of the usual 31). The Huskers are working on hosting a season opening tournament - a few teams have been leaked/confirmed. The B1G hasn't released anything about how many conference games will be played or when the game will start - it assumed that they will play 20 just like they would have anyway. ACC/B1G challenge is going to happen and it appears NU will host Boston College - again no dates have been announced. At this point it's all a big guessing game that will probably be resolved in the next couple of weeks. Practice starts week so there is some movement toward a season.
  14. Gregg Marshall at Wichita State will be looking for a new job before Thanksgiving. I can't read the article in The Athletic because it's behind a pay wall but the summaries on ESPN & CBS don't look good for him. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/30074157/wichita-state-investigating-coach-gregg-marshall-amid-misconduct-allegations https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/wichita-state-conducting-internal-investigation-into-conduct-of-coach-gregg-marshall/ https://theathletic.com/2123302/?source=twittered
  15. KSU probably not coming... https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/30078713/kansas-state-open-college-basketball-season-host-little-apple-classic
  16. Had the same thought about KSU & hadn't thought about two 8-team brackets.
  17. Creighton is unlikely - the last I heard they are planning to go to the MTE formerly known as The Battle for Atlantis. Missouri is unlikely since LSU will be here since there is usually only one team per conference in MTE's (yes, I know UNI & Illinois State are both in the Mo Valley). KSU would be a good get, Kansas may feel like a tournament in Lincoln is "beneath" them + they don't want to have to play UNI.
  18. Nebraska wasn't playing this year, so no big deal.
  19. OWH take on today's Zoom press conference. Not behind pay wall https://omaha.com/sports/huskers/mens-basketball/the-secret-sauce-of-success-chemistry-building-on-fred-hoibergs-second-husker-team/article_00e3224f-7ee1-5eb1-8c57-ec456bc54c20.html
  20. A little more detail on the NCAA's testing suggestions. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/29970677/ncaa-health-guidelines-suggest-testing-basketball-players-three-s-per-week-coronavirus
  21. ESPN on the difficulty of getting a schedule made in a short time. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/29937616/bubbles-buy-games-bid-worries-frenzy-save-college-basketball-nonconference-season
  22. The other issue is that there are no scholarships available unless someone bails before he enrolls.
  23. Louisville is planning a bubble. Nebraska/Creighton/UNO could do the same thing with games in PBA and CHI Center. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/29914626/louisville-hoops-planning-non-conference-bubble
  24. From what I saw earlier in the week, he is looking at graduating HS at the end of the first semester and enrolling in college in January. I don't remember the source.
