  1. I sort of agree with this, I don't think Oregon was all that impressive last week. So Utah was a pretty bad team. Some stupid mistakes before half time gave them two TDs. That just can't happen against anyone. So yea Nebraska and Oregon had typical first game rust to work off. It's rarely a fine tune team taking the field the first week of the season.
  2. Not that it's relevant, it's not, but Oregon is a little familiar with Arkansas St, we played them in 2012. The half time score was 50-10. I don't think Arkansas St would beat Oregon as I highly doubt they've improved that much in the last few years.
  3. Yea, yesterday about 5 Pm I could make out the outline of the sun for the first time in several days.
  4. I know that route well. Be careful on those roads, 58 is famous for some bad accidents especially around mile post 20 and near the railroad tressel (about mile post 17). Both 97 and 58 have quite a few trucks, so pay attention and be safe.
  5. Notre Dame is in North Bend, Indiana. Someone earlier posted about how well Nebraska traveled to Notre Dame. I was just saying that's basically a relatively short drive compared to traveling to Eugene.
  6. It should have left Monday... This isn't a "day trip" like going to North Bend, IN.
  7. Yea we're hearing that some areas are going to get a little rain and that the wind is coming from the south. The real question mark is whether the thunder clouds and lightening start more fires along the way. So yea looks like the air is clearing a bit but it's still "iffy" as to whether we're out of the woods for Saturday.
  8. Fun story about "Car Nee" my mother was (from my understanding) the first woman manager in the Safeway grocery store chain. One day at the store she was working at someone came in and wanted to cash a check from K EAR nee Nebraska. She told them she'd need to get a second person to approve the check and she went in her office and called the police. She kept them waiting till the police arrived and the busted the guy.
  9. Yes we're very aware of that type of purchase. It's not a new tactic. I saw one post that someone in Lincoln bought 104 Duck season tickets just to get the Nebraska game. They'll probably sell the remaining tickets and make a profit.
  10. So you're in the Roseburg area. Say I think Steamboat changed owners a while back. I use to go there a couple times a year for the food and fishing. Sharon Van Loan did a great job there. Do you know if it's up to Sharon's standards? I think it's time to go back for a visit if it is.
  11. LOL I get what you're saying............. That would be tough conditions.
  12. Good question and the answer is I don't know. I'd say 2000 is a pretty normal allotment. Maybe 5000 for a big time program. I am just guessing. I did find one sight that said 2000 was the standard allotment when school is in session.
  13. So what's "Central Nebraska? I was born in Burwell. And yes it would have been a great pic. Never thought of Lincoln as having tough running conditions other than some heat and humidity on occasions.
  14. LOL I feel for you. When I lived in PDX a few years ago, I use to get a couple guys to share the cost of a small plane to fly us to Eugene for a game or two. We had a pilot who was a Duck fan and so we could split costs and save. It worked pretty well especially not having to deal with traffic when the Beavs and the Univ of Oregon had home games on the same day.
  15. You guys run a pretty cool site. Thanks for letting me share my thoughts on the up coming game.

      Mavric

No problem.  We appreciate you stopping by.

Hope they can get those fires under control.

  16. LOL yea we both love that course. Played there a couple times this summer. Beautiful setting. And the wide fairways play well with my game....LOL
  17. McKenzie Bridge area. I know the evacuated Belnap Springs. Hate to see that place taken to the ground. Can't imagine what it's like at Toketee Golf Course
  18. We're hanging in there. I just got back from the grocery store. Just saw a guy on the on exit ramp with a cardboard sign... you know the guys.... Only this guy was wearing a paper face mask and he had it pulled down under his chin while he was smoking a cig..... Funny yes, sad yes, just don't know what to say after that.
  19. On the tourism side of things, and this is assuming you are curious or of a mind to partake the "hippy herb" is legal here. Just look for the places with a Green Cross out front. I'm guessing there are around 20 dispensaries in Eugene.
  20. This pic reminds me of the fire near my house in the mountains two years ago. This is a very real and very chilling picture. I had embers landing on my roof, I was running my sprinkler system constantly just to keep plants around the house wet and prevent and fires from starting. Don't ask about the water bill it was four figures. But worth it.
  21. LOL yea, just for the fun of it, I did a google maps driving directions from Lincoln, NE to Eugene, OR. It said 25 hours driving time. Well that's without fires or game day traffic. If someone is planning on coming via Hwy 126.......... good luck with that. You'll be heading right into the fires. They evacuated part of that area last night. Very possible that they won't let traffic through. Plus, if they do, add several hours to your driving time. Next best option is via Portland and I-84 of course part of that was closed due to fires yesterday. So add another couple hours, plus if you are driving I-5 between Portland on "Game Day" for BOTH Oregon State AND the Univ of Oregon. So add a few more hours. Other option might be via Klamath Falls. That could be your best bet. If you leave right now and average about 9 hours driving time a day you might make kick off.
  22. I'll update when I have something. This smoke has been absolutely the worst. When you go outside it smells like you walked into a giant barbecue. Even the inside of the house, clothes etc are starting to smell like smoke. I've changed air filters twice on the HVAC system. Went to Home Depot and virtually everyone was coming out carrying air filters for their homes. I guess global warming doesn't exist............
