  1. I watched Adam Silver speak this morning and came to the realization I would rather him be running our country over 99% of the politicians I see on tv.
  2. Gotta love the combo Covid briefing/trump rally.
  3. Over time if you need it, I won’t let a fellow Husker go hungry, I ain’t buying you cheap booze though, I’ll save for myself if football gets cancelled.
  4. You live in Omaha? I’ll buy you some groceries.
  5. But do you need it....or would I be better off using it on local businesses like the order out BBQ tonight. You sound like someone who hoards TP.
  6. I mean if you really need it; I’ll send you it. My family is still eating, my wife and I are still working.
  7. You guys confuse me. Democrats signed on for this stimulus package, created the ideas implemented in this stimulus package, and some think this package isn’t enough. But Trump is the one pushing this and the Dems are “outflanked”? I’ll give credit to Trump for not stopping this, but I think both parties recognized something was needed. While also giving credit to Trump for doing the right thing now, I won’t ignore the many things he’s done to contribute to the situation.
  8. I mean he literally tried to take 700,000 people off food stamps during the coronavirus crisis before a federal judge had to step in, he’s vocally against any socialized medicine, and he called Bernie a communist a month ago. He’s literally just trying to save his own a$$, but I get it, people are dumb.
  9. Trump fudged up the coronavirus response from the start and is trying to pull a Hail Mary while staring down the biggest crisis since the Great Depression. You’re giving him far too much credit for trying to fix a problem he helped create. Also it ignores the fact that some democrats are calling for as much if not more assistance. These are great right wing talking points though.
  10. The answer is testing. @RedDenver thanks for the great link above. We're fighting an invisible opponent right now, to reveal that opponent we need mass testing - yesterday. Our shot at long term slowing this down is testing.
  11. I work in healthcare as I said before, my role had shifted to a more management position - just got the call I may be flexed back to patient care soon. Also word is Omaha area hospitals are clearing beds to prep for the coming wave. Be safe out there guys.
  12. Kentucky voters must be the dumbest people on the entire planet.
  13. I check in the hospital every morning and they ask if I have symptoms, the answer is always no, then they let me walk in. Everyday I wonder whose lying about symptoms or how many people I interact with could be asymptomatic. Hell I could be asymptomatic, I’m in my twenties and outside of an occasional cold, I never pick up anything. God knows how many people are walking around with it.
  14. The force choke memes are hilarious and I think both sides can agree on that.
  15. Their strategy was to let people get it, and let immunity kick in - well that's gonna happen everywhere - but in the mean time you'll overwhelm your hospitals and people will die because of it. Also makes me wonder when this will be back to "normal", it seems to me we have to wait for 60% to get it and develop immunity, or wait for a vaccine. Both prospects seem to be pretty far in the future, as long as we flatten the curve.
  16. If football gets cancelled this year, I’ll worry about my mental health.
  17. The biggest problem with testing currently is we’re missing the mild cases, these people are not quarantining and infecting multiple people. We’ve put our healthcare workers and infrastructure in a impossible position.
  18. No your right, at the start these were probably missed. But now, every doctor will request a test for patients that are showing aggressive symptoms.
  19. It’s definitely not adequate, but the severe cases are getting tested much, much more often than the non severe cases. If you are on deaths door with breathing problems and fever - you’re going to be tested. If you have a mild fever and a cough - chances are you won’t be tested.
  20. I haven’t really seen the effects post their ICU stay, but I’d imagine anyone who survives ARDS is going to to suffer long term effects. I’d guess the stiffening or fibrosis of the lungs never truly goes away, so they’d have reduced lung capacity and oxygen diffusion.
  21. Yeah the report said cases of re-infected, they believe the virus was dormant then symptoms returned, so not a case of true reinfection. I’ve worked with many ARDS patients, I haven’t read the studies but I would guess reduced lung capacity and oxygen diffusion would be common once you recovered. ARDS can be beat if you are younger and healthy, if you’re older if you do come back from it, I’d imagine it would greatly change your quality of life.
